Gender of Everyday Items

If you're like most people, common everyday items look inert to you.
But what you may not know is that many of them have a gender.

For example:
1. Ziploc Bags -- Male, because they hold everything in but you can see right through them.
2. Copier -- Female, because once turned off, it takes awhile to
warm up. It's an effective reproductive device if the right buttons
are pushed, can wreak havoc if the wrong buttons are pushed.
3. Tire -- Male, because it goes bald and sometimes it's over
nflated.
4. Hot Air Balloon -- Male, because to get it to go anywhere you
have to light a fire under it, and of course, there's the hot air part.
5. Sponges -- Female, because they're soft and squeezable and
retain water.
6. Subway -- Male, because it uses the same old lines to pick people up.
7. Hourglass -- Female, because over time, the weight shifts to the bottom.
8. Hammer -- Male, because it hasn't changed much over the
last 5,000 years, but it's handy to have around.
9. Remote Control -- Female . . Ha! You thought it'd be male. But
consider this -- it keeps a man happy, he'd be lost without it, and
while he doesn't always know the right buttons to push, he keeps trying.

Grrrrr.

I *THINK* somebody tried to hack me earlier this morning. I am WAY too familiar with getting hacked...I got hacked a few times in 1998 and 1999, and not much has changed since then. Traditionally, they somehow send you a popup message that says you are being hacked... Well, since I remember it too vividly, I immediately logged off and shut down my computer (hackers can't hack you if your computer is shut off). I had to pull out my modem so I could get back on and do some other things...I turned my comp back on and I didn't have any problems...I burned two photo CD's, then shut down my comp again to plug the modem back in...

Then I immediately downloaded ZoneAlarm (it is THE thing to download if you have cable or whatever) and I've been doing fine so far. I really need to buy a virus scanner/firewall. :o

I stopped associating with hackers a long time ago...they're most rampant in chatrooms...And I don't go to any websites that encourage hacking....Ew. So I am still wondering how the hell they tried to hack me....Ugggg, this sucks. But I should be OK now :)

The answer I give casual acquaintances is, "Oh, just great!"

The honest answer? I'm tired. They're started me doing document determination: where one document ends and the next begins. There's new rules every second, and you could ask somebody a question about it and get up to three different answers. So yeah, I slowly going bezerk.

Hope you're doing better than I am...

Since we're on the subject of cats, my mother hopes that we can get a female cat or kitten soon. Oscar probably wants a cat to play with (he is really interested in my older cat) but Louise is not very playful. The only cat she has ever tolerated was the cat we got with her and they were probably littermates.

I think Ron and the black hooker f.ucked; she was in another episode in the 4th season and they couldnt get their eyes off each other..and what a cute couple! Because by then she also had a HUGE afro:lol:

Yeah, I was noticing a little sparkage there...

But, you're right, the first season was definitely ... missing something. Not to sound prejudiced -- even though I am:winkgrin -- but things didn't really pick up until D.D. came around, IMVHO.

Since we're on the subject of cats, my mother hopes that we can get a female cat or kitten soon. Oscar probably wants a cat to play with (he is really interested in my older cat) but Louise is not very playful. The only cat she has ever tolerated was the cat we got with her and they were probably littermates.

Hey!

I'm wishing you the best of luck on that one. :)

BTW that sister is expecting. She is due on the 15th. A week after the baby is born, my mother is going over to Colorado to stay with her for a little bit and then come back. That is when she hopes to get one. I just hope my father is keen on the idea. My mother has hinted this to him and he hasn't said no or anything. But I won't hold my breath.

What a great Cold Case episode. It had Amber Benson from Buffy the Vampire Slayer in it. Among the music

Volunteers - Jefferson Airplane
Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
White Rabbit - Jefferson Airplane
Let it Show - The Troggs
A Whiter Shade of Pale - (I forget the artist)
Let's Get Together - The Youngbloods (no better way to end an episode like this.)

There was also another song but I didn't recognize it.

Ahh, no wonder they got lost. It'd be great if one of your relatives was able to find your clothes, or anything for that matter. "Hey, look at this!" My great-grandmother had some odds and ends, no telling how she got a hold of them. A few years back when I was visiting her, she surprised me with pictures that I hadn't seen in a long time.

I don't know if you'd like it...it bombed in theaters, tho.

Here's a little something not many people know about the Car 54 movie...This movie was actually made in 1990, but the company that was backing the movie (Orion) went bankrupt as soon as they had finished making the movie, so they had to shelve it for a while...That "while" turned into 4 years...it wasn't until 1994 that Orion finally got themselves straightened out...They got it ready to be shown in theaters after 4 years... But as it turns out, they picked a bad weekend for its theaterical release...It opened opposite the first Ace Ventura movie, so it bombed the big one. :o

So, if you watch it, Rosie has really long, curly hair (a lot like the mullet thing she had going in the late 80's when she was a VJ for VH1) but if you watch "A League of Their Own", she has shorter and straight hair...Interesting, huh?

(OK, I should shut up now.. )
