It is so cheesy, Sonny. The acting's alright but I love it and have watched it a million times just because of him, and because I like Ted McGinley and Joan Collins. Ted McGinley has some goofy lines: "Heeey, go get 'em Cowboy!"

 If I could get my hands on that tv guide! Don't throw it away.

It really isn't that big. They were talking about him possibly joining the cast of Dynasty and that he starred with JC in that movie. I think they dated but I'm not sure. I'll go find it one of these days and type it up in here. I think it was in one of the grapevine articles.

For years I've heard rumors that they dated, which I think might be true. Didn't last for long. He also dated Emma Samms for a little while, but his longest relationship seemed to be with Elizabeth Daly from Valley Girl.

If you ever run across it and decide to type it up, that'd be really great Sonny. :)

No problem. I know where the 1983-84 and 1984-85 editions are. Some of the others are in different places so it would take time to find them. I think maybe this summer I'll do some invetory of them and see how many issues I got. I haven't done one in about 10 years. I might find some more Jon-Erik articles. I know I got the fall preview issue with Cover Up in it.

It makes me wish I'd kept all of those old tv guides because I remember when that issue came out, yet I never even thought about it when it got tossed. Pretty sad considering how much I loved him then and still do. Mine are tucked away in Rubbermaid tubs and shoe boxes, so it'd take some time to find the ones I've kept over the years.

Now that I have a new box of sandwich bags, I'm going to be putting all of mine in there! When I went through them a long while back I just had them on top of each other. They're not in bad shape but I'd like to keep them in good shape for as long as possible. Last time I went through they brought back so many memories. I kept laughing at the schedules and ads.

Sonny! I got home in time to catch the TV Land Awards (missed the first 20 though). All in all, it was really good and I loved seeing Bea Arthur and the other ladies doing Sex in the City with Abe Vigoda.

I wish the Hulk had won, and the tribute to John Ritter should've been much longer. Next time I see it on I'll be sure to catch it all the way through so I can see Brandon Cruz and the Freddie Prinze tribute.

I actually have 2 tv guides from 1982-83. I have the fall preview edition and I have an 1983 tv guide that I picked up because it was the week that MASH aired its final episode. I really didn't start collecting though until the following fall. I used to go through them all the time but then I got so many that I stopped.I'm sure when I do again it will bring back memories. That Welcome Back Kotter TV Guide from 1976 that I showed you awhile back is a SC edition. I got that when me and my family was on vacation in Myrtle Beach. I have no Idea why I still got that one but I'm glad I do.

I'm glad you got to see most of it. The Freddie Prinze tribute was real good. George Lopez did that one too. I agree about John Ritter. I wish the cast would have gone onstage together but the only cast member I saw was Don Knotts and he didn't look good.

Even though I wasn't really serious about collecting until 1986 or so, there were quite a few I realized I'd kept from 3 years before just because nobody ever bothered to throw them away. Can't even remember what they are anymore. My grandmother made sure to keep the one that came out the week of that final episode.

Wow. Good thing you never let it go! And not just because it's a special collector's item.

Yeah, it was good to see it after missing it earlier this week. It's so nice that they gave one to Freddie Prinze.. really looking forward to that and seeing his son up there recieving the award.

You must have missed the part where Sherman and Isabel won an award. He had his arm around her's like he was propping her up and then when she said something into the microphone I really couldn't understand her. Yea its sad seeing them like that. They both were really a big part of my childhood.

No, I didn't get to see that part. It sounds like she might've had one if that was the case.. that's basically how I felt when ET ran Bill Bixby's last interview. It broke my heart seeing him that way.

Michael Landon was going to star in a new show called Us. I think CBS aired that movie as that was the only thing filmed. I thought NBC were a bunch of hypocrites. Michael Landon wanted the show on NBC because thats were all his shows had aired but NBC thought his shows were to old fashioned so he went to CBS. Then when he died NBC had a big tribute special to him like nothing had happened. I'm glad they did it but they were hypocrites.

The fact that he wanted it to air on NBC after having all of his others on that network is something I remember very well, and I remember them turning right back around and paying that tribute to him. It's complete B.S. if you ask me, and I don't blame you for thinking them hypocrites. I don't understand why they had to crap all over him, so to speak. And blaming the fact that his shows were 'too old fashioned' is a crock.

I have to hand it to ABC. they at least treated John Ritter right. That was a great tribute and they seem to want 8 Simple Rules to succeed.
Most networks don't care about people. Only ratings.I remember Della Reese blasting CBS after Redd Foxx died and she thought that all they carred about was the future of the Royal Family.

ABC is handling the show and everything that's happened since his death very well, and with class. NBC could've very well done the same thing.

No, you're right about that. It's upsetting to see shows that deserve a chance and are obviously loved by so many fans get the axe because of what one network executive says or does. ohno: Yeah, that was pathetic.

I remember watching Game 6 of the 1980 World Series on ESPN Classic a few years ago. I saw the end where the late Tug McGraw struck out Willie Wilson to end the Series. Wilson struck out 12 times in that series.

Every now and then I'll flip it over to ESPN Classic. This afternoon they had a Rockets and.. forget who they were playing (only had it on a minute or two) game from '83. They're fun to watch.

I haven't read the through the thread, but I saw it when it showed up in the newest posts. Doesn't make any sense to me. If you're going to release episodes, you'd think they would leave them alone to be enjoyed the way they meant to be.

After reading everyone's posts that's exactly what I was thinking. Why in the world would you edit out one scene like that? Sounds like it'll do well and they'll still go out and buy season 2, but still.. it's going to piss off a lot of fans.

After Bernie Mack gets canceled I'll only have 3 shows on Fox I watch, 24, Malcolm in the middle and that 70's show. I'll never watch a new show on that network again. Its a good think I stopped watching Boston Public when it moved to Friday or I'd be mad at that too.

Cancelling Bernie Mack will be one of the dumbest moves Fox has ever made. I am so tired of seeing the good stuff get canned, I really am. All three of those shows are some of the best on tv.

Moving them around without any notice is another stupid thing. There was a time when Fox was one of my favorite networks, that time has come and gone.

On titus's last show, he ended up in the nuthouse. That was a critical favorite that wasn't given a chance. And they want me to sample Arrested Development. No Way. I remember Tracey Ullman but by the time I got FOX that show was almost over. I saw a few shows when it was on Lifetime. Speaking of old shows on Fox did you see a sitcom called Whoops? Me, neither. It's sad because there's gotta be someone out there who has the guts to scare the hell out of horror audiences again, rather than "Oh wait, here's a movie that did well. Let's REMAKE IT!" What gets me is that the movie is only 15 or 16 years old. A whole bunch of us went to see it and had a blast.

Yeah, I caught it on HBO. Didn't impress me all that much, and no offense to Vince Vaughn, but he was no Anthony Perkins. There was tension in the original and he (Anthony) put his own little quirks into the character of Norman. He was Norman Bates through and through. The only thing that creeped me out about the remake was the trailor, that's it.

Awesomeness. I have pics, I'll post 'em when I get home.

It's Beatles galore down here. I got an Abbey Road sticker. Go me. :p

Hey everyone I changed my Screen name (AGAIN) and now that I realize that it is very closely resembles that of the infamous Dorothy's old screen name..But oh well...there is a meaning behind the new one...Undercover is actually a name of a local band here in San Diego that I love and Undercover Angel is a name of a old 1970's song that was stuck in my head at the time

There's noone else I could ever picture as Annie. Kathy Bates scared the hell out of me and brought so much to that character. I'd heard about that, which wouldn't have worked at all if you ask me.

 Whoa.. Yeah, if it wasn't for that one local there wouldn't be much of anything on. They gathered up a lot of the really good shows and put them all together. Every weekend they have the McCloud mystery movies, and if you miss Alfred Hitchcock you can see it again at 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoons.

When I first moved up here one of our locals used to air Ozzie And Harriet. Now all that channel aires are informercials.
I love McCloud. I used to watch that Columbo and McMillan and Wife. I haven't seen it in a long time.

Those stupid informercials are enough to drive me up a wall. How many times do we have to see the same ones over and over? The days when cable and local channels had movies and tv shows going all night need to come back very, very soon. On the weekends especially.

Me, too. McMillan and Wife is a great show and I think Hallmark still has it.

Do you remember when the old CBN had classic shows at midnight? I think I Married Joan, My Little Margie, Life Of Riley and Jack Benny used to air and I haven't seen them since.

Been a while but I do remember that. Yeah, I haven't seen any of those shows since then either. If they were smart they'd start showing them again like that. :(

Yea I think it was in the early 80's. I think Love That Bob was on it too. Then on weekends they had westerns like Wyatt Earp and The Cisco Kid.

The Cisco Kid is definately one I haven't seen in forever! When you uploaded pictures for it in the gallery, I suddenly remembered watching it when I was a kid.

When it was the Family Channel, I watched it. But it's of no interest to me now, not with all the new stuff. They keep changing things around, trying to make it more "hip" or whatever. :ohno

Ok, I don't know why but I have a scene from Sixteen Candles in my head..where Anthony Michael Hall's friend is at the bathroom door asking guys what grade they're in and stuff.

"How old are you?" 29

"Have you ever watched a reality show?" ....yes.

"Hmm, did you like it?" Not really.

"Uhhh, sorry. We can't allow you in. You're not hip!!"

I'm glad to report I'm feeling better now...*SNIFFLE* but now my nose's running. :p

I got to go see Abbey Road! :woohoo: And I brought a huge-ass Abbey Road street sign (from their gift shop, of course) that has a group pic of the Beatles on it. I saw a Penny Lane road sign and I wanted to get it and mail it to Marlene (Penny Lane) soooo badly...oh well!

Kate. Here is that Jon-Erik Hexum article I promised you. It isn't long(only a paragraph). If I find more I'll print them too. This was from the tv guide of September 24-30 1983 and it was in the grapevine section.
Did Alexis Hex Hexum?
Dynasty recently tested four Hollywood hunks for the role of a new series regular named Dex, son of a Denver Carrington board member, who gets embroiled with the clan. The number of contenders was soon narrowed to two: Jon-Erik Hexum(Voyagers) and Michael Nader(Bare Essence). What's intriguing here is that Hexum has been dating Joan Collins, who plays Alexis on Dynasty and first met Hexum when the couple co-starred in "The Look," an ABC movie scheduled for Oct.9. Although Collins lobbied for her beau backstage, Dynasty insiders say there was worry aplenty that if Hexum were hired and his amour with Collins later fizzled, there might be more soap opera on the set than in the script. Last week, Nader was picked to play Dex, but Collins needn't pout. "Hexum is a hot actor right now," notes Esther Shapiro, the show's co-executive producer, " and he might work in another role with us."

This is great, Sonny. Thanks for taking the time to post it for me! Sure would've been different had he been chosen over Michael Nader.

It's sad that less than a month later, he would be dead. I think he could've gone a long way.

Your welcome Kate. It sure would have been different. Actually that article was about a year before he died but if he was cast in Dynasty than he wouldn't have been cast in Cover Up and maybe that terrible accident wouldn't have happened.:( I think he could have been a star too.
