Hey Tara

Did you get your DVD's?
It was sad, I was so excited about the next day that I could not sleep; and once morning arrived. I literally jumped out of my bed, skipped eating breakfast, taking a shower of even brushing my hair or my teeth. Jumped into my car. Sped to Frys. Immediately (RAN) to pick up both the Good Times and What's Happening DVDs. Paid for the DVDs. Then I ran to Wal*Mart and bought the Emergency DVD (because it was on sale there)...then I came home and cuddled with my new DVDs like they were my newly adopted babies...

What's Happening!! Season 3 - it contains the Bubblin' Brown Sugar episode lol

Good Times Season 5 - The "Penny gets beat by her mother with a curling iron" 4-parter, 'nuff said lol

Emergency! Season 1 - I once went to a friend's house and Kevin Tighe was in my friend's living room lol This is a true story, I still got his autograph from that day.

My favorite episode is when them kids get stuck on the ferris wheel and Dr. Brackett gets into a car wreck on his way to the carnival to help out  I always thought the black surgeon at the hospital was cool. He was in about every episode and had more lines than some of the stars, but he never got any credit lol

Auntie got on my nerves last week. She responded to me in a Don Knotts thread where he was real sick by saying he's old and he's not one of her favorites on Three's Company anyway. Why even say that in a thread were the posters were trying to wish Don good health?

I probably wouldn't have responded in that particular thread for the same reason but she really doesn't have much excuse to complain.

Everyplace I ever lived didn't really have bus service. The one here only went up the street and catered mostly to the senior citizens. We never had one in NC but they sure needed one.

We had something like that in Hicksville, a transit bus for the senior citizens/disabled people. The bus system here also caters to senior citizens and disabled people as well, but mainly it's a public bus system. You pay a one-time fee, depending on your age (kids 4 & under are free, K-12 students, senior citizens and disabled people pay 50 cents and adults pay $1 to board... if they're transferring buses, they need a transfer pass from the first bus driver). They implemented this system shortly before I moved down here in 2003. :D

Yup, I won't be surprised if it's considered a classic 10 - 20 years from now. :biglove: I seriously have not watched 3rd Rock in so long. I did on and off, when they used to rerun it about 2-3 years ago but it was never a regular thing for me [watching the reruns]. Now that I have the first season, I can watch 'em all. :D

Joseph Gordon-Levitt looked like a BABY in the pilot, which was filmed in 1995, according to the copyright in the closing credits. It's hard to believe he's only about 2-3 years older than me, he looked like he was about 10 years old.

Its the longest running alien sitcom. :D It was syndicated on a local channel a few years ago and thats the last time I watched it. I used to watch it regularly when it was on NBC but usually I taped it and watched it on a certain day. NBC changed its timeslot every year.

I used to love when Dick would look in the mirror and proclaim he was beautiful. I know he was very young when the show started. The DVD doesn't have James Earl Jone's voice before the opening credits, does it?

From the review for 3rd Rock S1:

I did notice something that gives me pause: The theme uses the shortened intro (doesn’t have the James Earl Jones “this is the story of four such explorers/they had an extra seat” voiceover – it goes straight into the music). – shortened intros are usually a sign on syndication cuts, but the episodes run 22:00; which seems about right for a show from 1996. Unfortunately, I never recorded the show in original broadcast or syndication, so I have nothing for comparison. It’s also possible that James didn’t clear his voiceover at the start of the show.

That's why I never got to watch 3rd Rock regularly when it was still on- NBC was evil to it.

EDIT: I just looked at Joe's IMDb profile, and he's 4 1/2 years older than me. Huh. That means he was 14 when they shot the pilot.

I thought that said that James didn't clear his voice at the start of the show.

Yea. It was my favorite NBC sitcom of the late 90's but all NBC cared about was promoting Friends. 3rd Rock should have been put on Thursday and so should have Newsradio. Then they wouldn't have had those dud sitcoms at 8:30 and 9:30.

Is it wrong that I get jealous every time I'm at my dad's, catch a Richard Dawson rerun of FF and get jealous when he kisses all the females? Especially when he does it to the same lady AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. :cuss:

(and I don't even have a crush on Richard!)
^ I shouldn't have said that last night. I ended up having a slightly explicit dream that involved a male (I'll let you draw your own conclusions. We were both fully clothed throughout the dream). No, Richard was NOT in it. Dammit...it was one of those dreams where you wake up grinning and then you realize it was a dream and you get all pissed off.

Yup, NBC started going seriously downhill around the time Seinfeld went off the air. :( I have basically no memory of what the NBC primetime scheds were like in the late 90's because it changed all the time.
