Tomb Raider 2..... it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't amazingly good. This is my second time seeing it. I was sorta bored. Not a movie I could watch over and over, but it was worth seeing.

I watched parts of Swordfish last time. It was on TBS. Hugh Jackman...mmmmmmmm

I saw Identity last night and I must say it was the most incomprehensible movie I have ever seen. It started out pretty good with the people meeting at the hotel but it stops right there. I had no idea what was going on in the movie. It was extremely confusing. Luckily one of my sister's friends had seen the movie and she explained what happened throughout the film that we couldn't understand. It was like playing a game trying to figure out the plot and that's not what movies are made for. If I watch it again I might understand it better. If it weren't for the great suspense, I would give it just 2 out of 4 stars.

It gets 2 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Miracle on 34th Street.

The Beautician and the Beast- I taped this- it must've been fate! It was on at 1:10- i would be at school! Then it was announced yesterday (when I watched it) would be a half day! Anyway- I liked this film, I'm a fan of The Nanny and wanted to see Fran in more roles (only other thing I've seen her in was Spinal Tap). One of those films that, if you don't catch it on tv you'll probably never heard of it- I can't remember it's release (it was direct to video in the UK apparently). good fun movie- timothy dalton was funny in it.

Last night I saw Monsters Inc. for the first time in English (before then, the only time I saw it was in my Spanish class). I really loved it and Pixar did good on this film but I think that there are better Disney Pixar films out there today. Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome movie but I liked some of their other computer animated films (Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo) better. It was funny, touching, and cool at the same time. I really liked it. After watching this I have one more Disney Pixar film to watch: A Bug's Life.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

I just came back from watching The Sting and I must say that it was one of the best 2 hours and eight minutes I've ever spent watching a movie. I'm not exagerrating in the least bit. Paul Newman and Robert Redford were great as a team. It was awesome seeing a movie where con men get revenge on a mobster who killed a fellow con man. The music was excellent, too. I just loved that ragtime music. I was told it won the Oscar for Best Music. If that is true, I won't be the least bit surprised. I don't know if any ending to any other movie will match the one in The Sting. I, of course, won't give it away. You'll have to see it for yourself. :p

I love that movie. I saw it at the theater. Newman and Redford made a very good team. If you haven't already, you should check out, Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. Another classic.

Spaceballs- Mel Brooks is a comedy genius! I was in fits laughing at the alien dancing on the bar! Rick Moranis was great as dark helmet- and 'combing the desert'- taking things too literally!

Ripley's Game

It's a crime that Ripley's Game wasn't given a wide release. I've never seen The Talented Mr Ripley- but Ripley's Game is brilliant. Malkovich gives a great performance as Tom Ripley. I didn't expect to ever see this film- it was on DVD in the video store- but it was worth watching. Very unpredictable and full of suspense.

The House of Yes

Freaky Friday (original version)- I liked this movie, I haven't seen the Jamie Lee Curtis remake, but I hope to see it soon. The latest remake looks to be better though- the basic plot of the remake is the same, but everything else is different. The footage I've seen of the remake looks funnier- but this one is still very good. The end drags out a bit though.

There were some great action scenes, and very impressive special effects, but there were numerous reports during filming about fights between Sean Connery and the director, and many complaints from insiders that there was no script to work with, and it showed. Too bad.

I also rented "Pirates Of The Carribean," and I loved it.
Johnny Depp was a riot. Great action film.

Last night I viewed Monty Python's Life of Brian and I have to say it is pretty funny. However, to me it doesn't match the greatness that is Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Some parts really made me laugh. I think my most favorite part of the movie is the scene with Pontious Pilate and his guards who can barely contain their snickering when the name "Biggus D***us" is mentioned. Unlike Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this movie is not for kids to view as the film has full frontal nudity, bad language, and adult humor.

I liked this film, but I can understand why many people wouldn't like it at all. The main reason I watched this is because I'm a fan of Bette Midler's films. I thought she gave a great performance- but the characters needed to be deeper, and some of the story explained more. The film needed to be longer- they should've just done 2 two-hour parts to show as a TV movie instead of having the film be so short. However, there were some funny bits in the film- and the ending was very very sad.

The Uninvited (1996) (TV version)

Pretty lame but I did find out that it is a remake from a 1944 version starring Ray Milland who is one of my favorite actors.

I never get tired of watching this film. A few weeks back I watched 'Return to Oz' which I also like. Holiday film lineups are great- Willy Wonka is on almost everyday this week, so is The Wizard of Oz and there was about 4 versions of 'A Christmas Carol' on today (I tried to watch the musical, but forgot). Hallmark shows a lot of films- Santa Jr, Miracle on 34th Street- lots of Christmas tv movies as well. Also- 'Some Like It Hot' is on tomorrow- I've never seen it before but I've been told it's great. And 'My Fair Lady' is on- which I also haven't seen.

I have some catching up to do here. On Christmas Eve my father ordered The Santa Clause 2 on In Demand. I must say I really liked it. I think it may have been better than the first but only by a small margin. It is a very enjoyable Christmas flick that was set up well by the first Santa Clause movie. Several cast members from the first film make another appearance in this movie. I recommend it to Tim Allens fans and for those who want to see a very good Christmas movie

I saw LOTR: Return of the King. I think that ranks as one of the best sequels, if not THE best sequel, of all time. A helluvalot of action. The makeup was great, too. Good score, good acting, good script, everything all came together perfectly. It is an extremely long movie at 3 hours and 30 minutes but trust me, it is worth every single minute.

4/4 stars.

The Rage; Carrie 2

I actually liked this film. It was probably made as an excuse to make money of the 'Carrie' movie, but I still thought it was great.

I hate it when I see the remake THEN the original, cos I always end up liking the one I see first (usually)- and everyone else is saying they like the original better. You see, I saw the Carrie remake (I was disappointed with the ending- even though I didn't like the book's ending- directors should still stick to the story) before I saw DePalma's version. I thought DePalma's was a bit slow in some parts, it was great though (Piper Laurie was brilliant) but the new one concentrates more on the telekinesis and when Carrie destroys the town it's much better. The interview scenes were good- but I still wanna see a 100% faithful version- with everything in the books ending happening (there's an electrocution scene downtown in it- not in either film).

Still- I liked Carrie 2.

Trading Mooses- is May any good? It sounds interesting- I only heard of it after watching the 'Carrie' remake recently. Angela Bettis was brilliant in that- just as good a Spacek in the original- I was searching for the Carrie remake and found out angela bettis got the part of Carrie after casting directors saw an advanced screening of 'may'.

Janice, I've seen it twice and I agree! And that opening scene? I still can't get over it. Tops what the original had in store for us by a long shot. :eek: Not to knock the first Final Destination, but still.

What happened with me is that I rented FD 2 first. I figured it wouldn't matter. With some horror movies, it doesn't really matter, you know?
I was blown away by the movie....again, that opener has to be one of the most intense and frightening scenes on film.
So, I rented the original, and to be honest, I was disappointed. I think this was a case of they had a good concept and improved on it the second time around.
When watching FD 2, I realized how important it was to see the original first. The plots interweave strongly.
All said, it's a very good series. I'd like to see another installment.

I just watched Finding Nemo for the first time last night. Considering the fact that I never read a bad review of this movie, I wasn't at all surprised that I enjoyed it. It sort of reminded me of 1986's An American Tail, although I didn't like it quite as much as that. The animation in finding Nemo was incredible, and the story was even better.

My only two complaints about this movie was that number one, their wasn't enough music in it. Most classic Disney movies such as: The Little Mermaid, Snow White, The Lion King, etc., all had great music to go along with it's great story. I didn't notice a whole lot of music in Finding Nemo. If the movie would have had more music, I probably would have given it three and a half, or four stars, but since it didn't, I gave it three. The other small complaint I have is, at the end of the movie when Nemo said I love you to his dad, I was hoping he'd also say that to the fish voiced by Ellen Degeneres as well. Since he lost his mother before he was born, I thought that would have been a nice little way to end the movie, by having him accept her as his mother. I was actually expecting that to happen, and was pretty surprised when it didn't.

Overall though, I thought this was a very good movie, and deserves all the praise it has gotten. I wonder if Pixar will ever make a bad movie?

Thanks for the compliment.:) I'm not that big on animation either. I use to love animated movies when I was a kid, but now I find myself falling asleep, or turning the movie off halfway through most of them. I guess the fantasy is just no longer there for me anymore.:( Hopefully though more animated films like Finding Nemo will come out in the future that both children, and adults can enjoy.

I didn't think they could beat the first one, but like you, I was pretty blown away as well. That scene (both the opening and ending) had me on the edge of my seat!

Yeah, I can understand why you might be after seeing the second one first. :lol: This is one of those rare instances where I'd also like to seen another installment.

Big Fish- Fantastic! This is the best film I've seen so far this year- hopefully it'll get a Best Picture nomination. I liked it although it's not my type of movie. My husband likes the slasher ones. If you liked the Freddy and Jason movies, this won't disappoint.

It's very bloody....the usual teens getting picked off one by one. It has a good showdown between the two freaks as a finale.

I think it's worth renting.

I don't like many horror movies, but I thought this one was decent. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I also think it is worth renting.

"Monster" with Charlize Theron about executed serial killer Aileen Wournos. It was really good. Could barely recognize Charlize. An amazing transformation.

Charlize Theron was on 20/20 last week, and they showed what went into making her look like Aileen. She had to gain 30 pounds, they put stuff in her cheeks, and sprayed her face with this stuff to give her a grainy complexion. They looked identical....showed them on a split screen and could barely tell them apart.
The story itself is fascinating....Aileen's terrible childhood, the rape (they showed that clip).
Historically, there are very few female serial killers as opposed to men.
Monster is only in limited release here now, but I do want to see it. Charlize is nominated for a Golden Globe, and there's lots of Oscar buzz surrounding her performance. She's one gorgeous woman.
Her mother killed her abusive, alcoholic father when Charlize was 15. They are from South Africa. Her mother was freed because it was self-defense.

Susan Sarandon's Mimi is a great character- funny and evil. Russel the 'painter who doesn't paint' has the best and funniest lines in the film:

Freddy Vs. Jason -i thought this movie was dumb. Horrible movie.

OMG, I remember that movie! Wow, I'm having a major 80s flashback... I was so in love with Fred Savage way-back-when, and watched all of his movies. Don't ask me why ;)

It was actually pretty good. I was glad they didn't make it an orgy-fest like some moron directors do when they make a movie about vampires or werewolves. The super-monster at the end was kind of a let-down though.

The Italian Job

I really liked it. At first I thought it was gonna be like a 2nd verison of Oceans 11 but I really really liked this. It was a bit different and kept you on your toes.

The Great Escape- I've had it recommended to me tonnes of times, read the great reviews, how everyone loves it. This was the first time I've seen it, and it is great. It reminds me of another good film, 'Escape from Alcatraz' with Clint Eastwood.

Plan 9 From Outer Space- a very bad/ funny movie.
