Actually laughing out loud here. Yeah, Netflix makes me order everything because it's a flat monthly rate. I'm out of control.

To be honest, I couldn't get through it because it was so gory and had that sadistic violence. It's an hour and a half long, but I quit after almost an hour. It's directed by Rob Zombie (some rocker?), and it's merciless....teens being kidnapped and tortured....someone gets scalped. It was too disturbing for me, and I like horror movies.

Stephen King's latest video release, Dreamcatcher, is very good if you like horror movies. It has terrific special effects.

Doesn't sound very pleasant..I like horror movies, but not the overly gory ones that try too hard to "push the limits". My friend is always trying to get us to watch it, but we never want to b/c it is a rob zombie film:lol:

I'll check out Dreamcatcher..i haven't seen a good horror movie in a while. Thanks.

I know what you mean. House of 1000 Corpses has that raw brutal horror seen in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Last House on The Left or Strangeland.
Now Strangeland was scary....Dee Snider's movie about how he poses as a teen and lures other teens to his torture chamber basement, via the internet. Once captured, among other things, he sews their eyes and mouths shut.

The last movie I watched was The Picture of Dorian Gray, starring George Sanders and Hurd Hatfield playing the title role. It was excellent. In this film, a man named Dorian Gray unintentionally sells his soul and, as a result, remains young while his painting grotesquely (sp?) ages. It is filmed entirely in black and white except for a few shots in Technicolor of the painting (one of them startling me with the sudden change in color and the ugliness of the protrait). This movie just has to be seen to be believed. I cannot wait to read the novel of which the film is based on, written by Oscar Wilde. A little bit of useless trivia: this was Angela Lansbury's third film and second Academy Award nomination.

3 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Ed Norton I don't consider..but he bad mouthed the movie and said he was forced into it(hes just bitter). I do consider Mark Wahlberg to be a B actor, because he's not the greatest actor, and has only done maybe 2 good films(Three Kings and The Italian Job). Have you seen the Charade remake? Most of his films tank. Hes not exactly in high demand for movies. Charlize, is the hottest actress next to Angelina. But most people don't even know who she is. Seth Green was also a main star, need I say more. and that guy(the one who gets all the girls, whats his real name?), hes not very well known.

Janice

Gotta disagree with you Nirvana. I think Mark Wahlberg is considered an A List actor. He did get 10 million for Planet of The Apes.
B Actors don't get paid that sort of money.
He was good in The Perfect Storm too. Actually, he's got a decent resume, according to imdb.
Edward Norton is at the top of his game now.

He barley got 5 million(that sounds funny. i'd kill for that kind of money:lol: ) for TIJ. After POTA and The Perfect Storm didn't get the numbers they wanted he hasn't been getting what he used to...I don't know, i think hes good at the physco roles(fear ect) but the drama roles(boogie nights, excuse me while i go hurl, another failure but the critics actually liked it) he sucks at. He doesn't have much range. When I think A list male actor I think someone like Densel Washington. Not him.

Random thought: Its so sad all those hot girls are always in his movies:( (Julianne Moore, Christina Applegate, Charlize x2...)

According to this, he received 10 million for POTA. Even if it's incorrect, B List actors don't even get 5 million.
With all due respect, the fact that you don't like him doesn't mean he's not a star. He's a box office draw, not as big as Densel, Cruise, Travolta, Hanks, etc, but a big name nonetheless.
I love the Boston guy. ;)

I'm actually glad to see a Stepford Wives remake- I think Nicole and Bette will be great in it. They've changed some of the character names a little in the new one.

I thought Revenge of The Stepford Wives was very entertaining- even though the plot is very different. I knew while watching the film that I recognised Julie Kavner- then I went on to imdb and saw she does some voices for the simpsons! She sounds exactly like Selma in real life!
I'm trying to get the Stepford Children on video soon- it's meant to be good (rated 15- Revenge is PG)- The Stepford Husbands is meant to be just like a typical tv 'young and the restless' kinda film.

Earlier today I saw "Out of Time" starring Denzel Washington. I must say, I was really drawn into it. In this film, a police chief played by Denzel Washington has an affair which causes one thing to lead to another and pretty soon, he finds himself framed for arson, murder, and insurance fraud. It doesn't help his case that one of the victims named the police chief the beneficiary of her will, a $1 million claim. Scrambling to defend himself before everyone else finds out all of this, he looks to find out who killed his girl whom he had an affair with. What follows is a series of events in the vein of "The Fugitive" as well as a plot twist that very few viewers can see coming a mile away. 3/4 stars.

A few nights ago, I watched Bullitt starring the late and great Steve McQueen, who happens to be my favorite actor of all-time. In this film, he plays Lt. Frank Bullitt, who is assigned to protect a star witness who is being pursued by "the organization." Unfortunately, the witness is killed off and Bullitt looks to find the killers at all costs. One of the best car-chase scenes takes place in the middle of the film. A rather bit of useless trivia but this film holds the distinction of being the first movie to use the phrase "bull****." Of course, that is not why I like it. I liked it because of its great cast (McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Simon Oakland, Norman Fell, among others) and great plotline. Good action scenes, too. 3 1/2 / 4 stars

OMG..... We just rented that too. That was a freaky movie. It wasn't that long either. I wonder if that movie will go down as a "B" movie in the hall of fame. The killers in that movie were soooooo gross. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was pretty good as far as keeping you on the edge of your seat.

I rented the dvd through netflix, let a friend borrow it before I checked it out. When he gave it back to me, he said he could only get through a few minutes because it was so bad. So I watched it, hoping to tell him that he should have stuck with it because it wasn't bad. BUT IT WAS!!! Ridiculously overblown stunts, everyone was unappealing. It was just all over the place. Jaclyn Smith was the best thing in the movie.

I believe it was only fourth at the box office in its first week...behind Kill Bill, Chainsaw Massacre III and Runaway Jury. I haven't seen Kill Bill but probably will eventually, have already saw Runaway Jury and have no desire to see CM3. I can't imagine how any of those movies could match up to Mystic River. Tim Robbins was amazing in his role and I don't even care for him all that much.

I know the first week it had a limited release so maybe that has something to do with it. Tim Robbins was terrific, and I've never been a big fan of his either.

You probably already know this but the movie is based on Dennis Lehane's book of the same name. I haven't read it but last night I just started reading Darkness, Take My Hand by Lehane. He has written 7 books and is from Dorchester, Mass. Looking forward to reading all his books.

Yep, the one by Lorna Luft  I can't stand her. I made it halfway through the book and then threw it against a wall. She is so irritating... the section of the book on her mom is really interesting, but her mom died when she was 16 - the rest of the book is just full of her complaints. She's so jealous of Liza it's actually kind of sad. My dad put it into one sentence: "Lorna's claim to fame is that she appeared in Grease 2. Her sister won an Oscar for Best Actress in Cabaret." Liza's definately the one that got the talent in that family ;)

Read the other biography that just came out, "Get Happy." That's a fantastic book :)
