Hope Springs (A pretty good romantic comedy with Colin Firth and Heather Graham. I laughed alot. The guy who played Fisher stole every scene he was in!)

The Mystery of Natalie Wood (only part 2- missed part 1)- I liked the film, but really- the actors playing Christopher Walken and Marilyn Monroe were awful (I laughed thru marilyn monroe's scene- so awful it's funny)- as well as the child actress playing Natalie's daughter Natasha.

I actually liked the woman they got to play Marilyn - she looked exactly like Marilyn did in the early part (but if you missed part 1 I guess you didn't see that). I totally agree, the guy playing Chris Walken was terrible. It's so strange that the writers decided to make it look like Natalie was definately having an affair with Walken, but her affair with Warren Beatty never happened  Everyone knows it was the other way around... Oh, but whatever. It was a pretty good miniseries, I thought.

What was Marilyn doing in the first part? The way Natalie was talking after Marilyn's suicide, I thought they'd only ever met once. I think it was great that the actress looked alot like Marilyn- but I think the acting was sort of silly. I'm not very familiar with Natalie Wood's life- I've seen a few things about it, so I'm not well informed about her and walken and beatty. The problem I had with the guy playing Walken was he changed the way he played him sometimes.

Natalie met her once when she was still a little girl and Marilyn was just starting out. I really liked that scene - because the girl they got to play Marilyn really had the uncertainty down. The guy that played Walken was just a bad actor, he also looks nothing like Chris Walken  I've read a few books on her and I've seen a bunch of documentaries about her life. It was a pretty sensational divorce case when Natalie and Robert Wagner split up the first time, everyone knew it was because of Beatty (kind of like the Meg Ryan/Russell Crowe thing). It just seems so ridiculous that they tried to make it look like it was just Wagner's imagination. Oh well, they can believe that if they want to ;)

The Passion of the Christ: Great film!!! The acting was superb, the music was beautiful, and the cinematography was gorgeous. The only two things I was a bit disappointed about, was number one, that it wasn't longer. I think it would have benefited the film greatly had they done more flashback scenes involving Jesus' Ministry. The flasbacks that they did show were each only about 30 seconds to a minute long. I had hoped that they would be longer, and that there would be more of them. I believe there were only about 5 or 6 flashback scenes altogether. I think that more scenes involving Christs' acts, and words, would have been good too, because it would have taught people who don't have much Biblical knowledge, a little more about Jesus the man, and why the Jewish leaders were so threatened by him. The movie was a little over two hours long, but I think three hours would have been better, with an hour and a half dedicated to Jesus' words and Ministry, and the other half focusing on his suffering.

I also wish the resurrection scene would have been longer. I was expecting the two Mary's to go visit the tomb Jesus was in, and for Jesus to ask Peter 3 times if he loved him, (as he does in the Bible), but there was very little involving his resurrection in the movie. Infact, that part of the film was only about 15 seconds long, and none of his Disciples were with him. Hopefully though they'll have some extras, like deleted scenes and stuff on the DVD when it comes out. Overall, I thought the film was very good, and I highly recommend it!!

Dogville- I thought it was great. Von Trier did a great job with it, especially with building up the cruelty of the residents of dogville. Also, the minimalist approach- using only props that are neccessary, and chalk outlines- is easy to get used to (though I think the mime work and sound effects when opening an invisible door were a bit too much). It does get quite slow at some parts- but still, a very artistic film. Also, it has one of the most satisfying film endings I've ever seen.

But- one comic quote from it all: Ma Ginger (Lauren Bacall): I'll hoe as I damn well please

Same here. IMO, it's a bad movie. Just to show you how bad of a movie it was, I stopped it about 1/3 way into the movie and put it back in its DVD case. Oh my God, that movie is so stupid. And I NEVER NEVER EVER stop the movie halfway through...That should tell ya something.

That was the last movie I watched - the last TV show I've been watching on DVD is "Freaks and Geeks" - I just finished the first episode on the 2nd disc. I'm watching one per day (or when I can). :D

Yeah, it definitely was. I really thought I was going to like it. I usually love independent films like that, and I read many good reviews. I also really like Maggie Gyllenhaal. The acting was really good, but the movie as a whole, wasn't.

Head of State (Silly little political farce. Could have been better if it was more serious. I'd get rid of Robin Givens and the sight gags and do more about Rock's character in Office rather than him just running for President)

A Pyromaniac's Love Story (Eh. It was sort of like "A Wedding for Bella; The Bread, My Sweet" only without Scott Baio but it has Billy Baldwin and he's a worse actor and it has bad music too)

I didn't like it the first time I saw it so I put it on my shelf for about three years. I just watched it again today (to give it a second chance). Yeah, I think I'll put it up for auction on ebay or something. I don't get that movie.

You remind me of my mom. Iv'e been trying to get her to watch Schindler's List for 8 years now, but because of the violence, she refuses to. I tried watching Saving Private Ryan with her once, but shortly into the film, she started crying, and ran out of the room. Some people just don't handle that kind of violence in movies all that well, and since "The Passion" is easily the most violent film Iv'e ever seen, there's alot of people who probably shouldn't watch it.

Iv'e always been able to handle violent movies pretty well myself. I try not to watch too many of them, but the ones I have seen, Iv'e been able to make it through without getting freaked out. In real life, I'm about the most squeemish guy on the planet. I nearly faint when I step on a bug. But I don't really have that problem with movies, because I know that the blood and violence is fake.

If you do think that you'll be able to handle it by the time it comes out on DVD Janice, you should definitely check it out. It's one of the most touching movies Iv'e ever seen, and I think you might like it.

I think I'm the same as your Mom. I like violence when it's fantasy like as in Batman, Spider-Man, etc but when it's realistic, graphic gritty stuff like Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, Passion of Christ etc, I just CAN'T watch those kind of movies. I know they would upset and depress me SO much that I just stay well clear of that kind of genre.

The Uncanny- proving once again my warped sense of humour, I just couldn't stop laughing at some of the cat attack scenes! Though I did find the film interesting (I've always been suspicious of cats kinda)- and the 'special' effects between the 2 inch high girl, the sharp stick and the cat are so bad they're funny!

Elvis (Bruce Campbell) and John F. Kennedy (Ossie Davis) battle a cowboy boot wearing Mummy who is draining the souls of the elderly residents of a Texas nursing home.

I swear to God this is a movie. And a pretty good one. A must for Bruce Campbell fans.

The DVD audio commentary is hilarious. Campball riffs on the film (and tons of other stuff) as Elvis.

Somebody Has to Shoot the Picture was on HBO originally and not released in the theaters. I'm a big Bonnie Bedelia fan, and so I try to get as many of her movies as I can.

The last movie I saw was Monster. I think I would have liked it more, if they hadn't just focused on the relationship between Aileen and Selby. I mean yes it was important. What I wanted to know was why she went off on most of those men and did it. I guess she just went nuts. Other than that it was okay.

Supposed to be a classic and maybe it is but I just thought it was a hokey movie. Probably because it's dated but I know that awhile back I saw Double Indemnity from 1944 and that was a terriffic movie. Also, Body and Soul from 1947 was one of the best movies I have ever seen.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: It was ok, I guess better than the other two (the characters are more human, there's a bit more comedy), BUT, it gets very very muddled through the last half hour or so, the very end scene is terrible, and the whole 'it's soooo much darker' thing the media has been using is overly-hyped. Yes, it is darker, but not as much as it's being made out to be. Also, what's started to annoy me about the Harry Potter films is they're becoming like Bond films- in the way each bond film has to have a new gagdet etc, only with HP it's a new spell, a new teacher etc, and it kind of wears thin.

Apart from the last half hour, and some other things, it was good- the actors are better (but for some reason, it felt like Hermione was left out of much of it- even though she was almost always onscreen)- Emma Thompson's small role is funny, as well as Dawn French. I thought David Thewlis as Professor Lupin was better than Gary Oldman's Sirius Black (who actually got on my nerves- though he isn't in it as long as I thought he'd have been).

OT: This is kind of creepy, but in this film, David Thewlis looks alot like Gary Oldman when he did the guest appearance on Friends

Monster - Sharon Gless...I mean, Charlize Theron was really great in this movie. So was Christina Ricci; underrated performance from her.

Does Sharon Gless look like Charlize Theron? I've only seen Gless in revenge of the stepford wives so I'm not sure..
