The Girl Next Door '07  (A fictionalized account of the shocking ordeal endured by Sylvia Likens -- an innocent Indiana teen who was systematically tortured, raped, and murdered by a suburban divorcée and a group of neighborhood children in 1965.)

I agree, I like that one better too, partly because it's based on the actual events where Girl Next Door was fictionalized and changed things including people and locations. The book is much better and more effective.

Tusk '14 :thumbsdow (I guess The Human Centipede has started a subgenre: Madman kidnaps and surgically turns people into animals.
Bad accents, bad wigs, bad fake beards, bad Johnny Depp, I'm not sure what he was doing, but I can see why he didn't use his real name. Normally I like Michael Parks, but he was just plain annoying in this.)

Punishment Park '71  (With the war in Vietnam escalating, there is massive public protest in the United States and elsewhere. President Nixon declares a state of national emergency and the Federal authorities are given the power to detain persons judged to be a risk to internal security. In a desert zone in southwest California, a civilian tribunal passes sentence on groups of dissidents and gives them the option of participating in law enforcement training exercises in the Bear Mountain National Punishment Park. In an atmosphere of aggression and intimidation and in soaring temperatures, the prisoners have to fight for their lives as they are hunted down by the forces of law and order. )

Real Life '79  (A pushy, narcissistic filmmaker persuades a Phoenix family to let him and his crew film their everyday lives, in the manner of the ground-breaking PBS series "An American Family". However, instead of remaining unobtrusive and letting the family be themselves, he can't keep himself from trying to control every facet of their lives "for the good of the show". )

After a series of mishaps Mother, the ships computer, can no longer persuade Bomb not to detonate. Even the dead captain is of little help in arguing with Bomb who is bound to do his duty. )

The Haunting in Connecticut (2009) on Blu-ray

The film is based on the alleged paranormal experiences of the Snedeker family from the late 1980s. Their eldest son was sick w/ cancer and they decided to temp. move to a home closer to the hospital for his treatments.

The house that they moved into used to be a funeral home and the mortician was into the occult and holding seances inside. The family experienced strange things shortly after moving in and they later wrote a book about it.

At the same time this was being filmed, right across the lake the original Friday The 13th was also being filmed.

The Blu Ray looks amazing.
Very entertaining commentary with writer/director Charles Kaufman and P.A. Rex Piano. Fun interview with Eli Roth. There's also a behind the scenes narrated by Kaufman. Still haven't watched the interview between Darren Lynn Bousman who directed the remake, and Kaufman.)

Pulse '88  (An intelligent pulse of electricity is moving from house to house. It terrorizes the occupants by taking control of the appliances, either killing them or causing them to wreck the house in an effort to destroy it. Then it travels along the power lines to the next house, and the terror restarts. Having thus wrecked one household in a quiet neighbourhood, the pulse finds itself in the home of a boy's divorced father whom he is visiting. It gradually takes control of everything, badly injures the stepmother, and traps father and son, who must fight their way out. )

Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns growing from his head and soon realizes their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses–an effective tool in his quest to discover what happened to his girlfriend and exact revenge on her killer.

AMERICAN SNIPER

The story of CHRIS KYLE Navy Seal who had Four Tours of Duty in Iraq. It is said that he has 255 kills with the Pentagon recognizing 160.

Controversy surrounding his "kills", but was greatly respected by fellow SEALS with 160 "TRIDENTS" (which are Gold Navy Seal Wing Pins) that they slapped and pounded into his coffin (He died Feb 2 2013). It is considered a high honor and respect given by SEALS to a "Fallen Seal."

I'm a fan of 80's teen sex comedies, but this one was painful. Surprisingly it's from the same director who gave us Our Winning Season, The Stepfather, The Good Son, Dreamscape, and the fun 70's teen sex comedy The Pom Pom Girls. And features many familiar TV and movie faces including Dennis Quaid, Fran Drescher, Michael Lembeck, David Huddleston, Lou Wagner, Rosanna Arquette, Bill Kirchenbauer, and Otis Day of Animal House, which this film copies along with Meatballs.)

It was OK, could have been better I thought. First half was kind of boring, than it got better. How cool!!! I'm jealous Marlene!! I want that!!! I LOVE Petticoat Junction!!!

It's available on amazon.com.Aside from a full-length documentary on the history of Petticoat Junction, It is jam packed with great stuff! Even has old commercials for Tide and Ivory soap with the cast in them. And there are clips of Bea and Linda appearing as guests on different programs at the time. There's also the 1965 Christmas episode. If you're a P J fan it's a must! And it's only $10.00!

Knightriders '81  (A medieval reenactment troupe find it increasingly difficult to keep their family-like group together, with pressure from local law enforcement, interest from entertainment agents and a growing sense of delusion from their leader.

Stephen King and his wife make a cameo as audience members. At the time of filming Romero and King were working on the screenplay for Creepshow.

This is one of my favorite films.)

Religulous (2008) on DVD

Bill Maher travels to various religious holy sites and interviews religious leaders and "regular folk" in order to find out why intelligent and rational people have all of these irrational beliefs when it comes to religion.

Maher says that believing in any religion is a neurological disorder and it's very bad for the world.

Heaven's Prisoners (1996) on DVD

An ex-homicide detective and his wife witness a small plane accident while out fishing. They manage to save a young girl inside and later find out that the plane was occupied by a drug smuggler who also transported illegal aliens on the side.

He then tries to find out who took the plane down, since it was an organized hit, and this puts himself and his family in danger.

* The film was completed in 1994, but it was shelved for two years due to Savoy Pictures folding. New Line then picked it up for Spring 1996.

It is based on the 1988 novel of the same name by James Lee Burke, the 2nd in his Dave Robicheaux series.

Vamp '86  (Two fraternity pledges go to a sleazy bar looking for strippers to entertain their college friends. They have problems with transportation, Biker gangs, and worst of all, the staff of the bar, all of whom seem to be vampires.

One of my favorite horror comedies. Great quirky characters and atmosphere. Like After Hours with vampires...ha, just noticed one of the reviewers on IMDB said the same! Well, according to the director that's what he was going for.
The DVD commentary with writer/director Richard Wenk, and actors Chris Makepeace, Dedee Pfeiffer, and Gedde Watanabe is hilarious.)

Saw Inherent Vice in the theatre this afternoon!

Entertaining , but confusing and long! Joachin Phoenix was good as he always is. Played a stoner hippie/detective. Took place in 1970 which was cool! Joachin is sexy, beautiful eyes, although he was kind of grungy in this movie! LOL!!! Also Reese Witherspoon ,liked seeing them together in a movie since Walk the Line! Owen Wilson and Josh Brolin were good in this too!

In the Electric Mist (2009) on DVD

The film is a sequel to Heaven's Prisoners w/ Tommy Lee Jones playing an older Dave Robicheaux. It takes place in post-Katrina New Orleans where he's investigating a serial murderer of hookers.

At the same time, the body of a murdered black man from 35 years prior is discovered. This haunts Robicheaux since he witnessed the murder as a teen.

* The film was released straight-to-DVD in the U.S., but was theatrical overseas.

Based on the James Lee Burke novel In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead, the 6th book in his Dave Robicheaux series.

The last movie I saw was “American Sniper” a movie that is causing uproar recently. I can totally relate to this as I am a Navy wife. Soldiers don't always agree with the government or the wars but they do it to protect the ones they love and to give others a peaceful life which others always take for granted.

Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace.

The beginning is kind of too weak to start, but the information is almost precise as they began to form as a team.

I can't believe Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley are both fraternal twin beauties in this movie.

I know Natalie is from Israel who speaks pure American and I know Keira is from England who speaks pure British in a low strict toned voice.

Also, Natalie is four years older than Keira and Keira plays a strict queen and Natalie plays an assistant.

In this movie, Natalie was only 16 or 18 and Keira was only 12 or 14.

Yeah, too bad Qui-Gon got killed in this movie and it was very sad scene when they exposed his dead body during the funeral pyre with fire.

I was wondering if I did not have the the caption on, I would have thought that young Obi-Wan would have to fight being a jedi alone without his master Qui-Gon. But now since I have the cpation on, he is the new master jedi for young Anakin.

A Life in Dirty Movies (2013) via Showtime-on-Demand

The documentary follows 60s sexploitation film director Joe Sarno and his devoted wife Peggy for one year. Joe Sarno was known in the 60s for his soft-core filmwork and he was pretty much put out of business by the rise of hardcore porn in the 70s.

Joe Sarno wasn't interested in just showing sex, he wanted to show raw human emotion. He begrudgingly released a few hardcore movies to stay afloat but he later fell into obscurity.

His work later had a resurgence in the 2000s when arthouse film lovers and indie executives re-released his work and invited him to speak at events. This later sparked his interest in releasing "one more movie" and the docu. follows him and his wife in their attempts at getting it off the ground while talking about "the business" in years past.

Sadly, Joe Sarno died while filming the docu. at 89 of natural causes. His wife said that he was proud of getting the recognition that he had dreamed of; even though it had to happen so late in life.

Crypt Of Dark Secrets '76  (Army Ranger Ted Watkins, returning from his last tour of duty in Vietnam, decides to abandon society and take up residence in a remote corner of the Louisiana swamps. Thinking Watkins has a stash of loot hidden away in his cabin, three thieves sneak into his cabin and murder the man in cold blood. Before they can get away, however, a swamp witch named Damballa performs a voodoo rite to bring Watkins' body back to life and take revenge on the men who killed him.

There was no crypt, and I didn't notice any dark secrets. Love these low budget regional horror flicks, especially when shot on locations like the Louisiana swamps. The actress that played Damballa was stunning, even when she had clothes on, she reminded me of Laura Gemser.)

SpongeBob movie Sponge out of water

I just saw this yesterday. I tagged along with my friend and her Granddaughter. I'm a big time SpongeBob fan from my sons! It was cute. Not rolling on the floor funny, like some of the TV eps are even funnier. But it was funny enough and very cute. All the usual Bikini bottom gang, and they introduced a cool new character, a dolphin named Bubbles. Antonio Banderes played a human part as the pirate "Burger beard' . He was really good. And there were adorable singing Seaguls !

Star Wars III: Revenge Of The Sith

We already know that last time Anakin's mind got badly affected by his divorced parents (Shmi and Cliegg) and they both were too poorly unsuccessful in their lives. This really cause Anakin to become intense.

Right now in this film, we already know that Chancellor Palpatine is the sith lord, plain and simple. He was the one who was behind this and he meddled Anakin by analyzing Anakin's mental weakness completely.

The ending was the saddest when Anakin's wife died in childbirth. Whatever on the dark side entered into Anakin's mind from the dark lord may have entered in Padme when Anakin forced choked her right in front of Obi-Wan. After Anakin was completely put into the Darth Vader suit, then that was the time that the dark side completely killed Padme's mind at the same time after childbirth.

The funeral march was the worst and saddest scene to watch when they expose Padme's dead body in front of everyone in Naboo. Whenever you see all those flowers, ribbons and confetti scattered all over her hair, then you can tell that Padme is completely beautiful.

Finally, the reason why Leia remembers Padme and Luke doesn't is because Leia was completely separated from the Skywalker family in order not to risk herself becoming a Jedi and get killed automatically afterwards.

Stephen King was upset that it was broadcast opposite "American Idol" and blamed that move for Desperation's low ratings.

When they arrive the husband is away and they find themselves trapped in a house while the preserve is overrun by large cats including lions, tigers, leopards, and panthers.

Really the plot doesn't matter. It was filmed on location at the Shambala Preserve in California founded by Tippi Hedren. The film stars Hedren [who also wrote and produced alongside her then husband Noel Marshall], Noel Marshall plays the husband, and directed. Melanie Griffith and 2 of her stepbrothers play the children. The film was in production for 11 years, part of the delay was a flooding at the preserve in the 70's. All of the large cats were rescued animals, the cats were untrained, many of the cast and crew were injured during production including Melanie Griffith and Noel Marshall. The amazing thing about watching the film is seeing humans and the cats interacting with each other- no trick photography, no special effects, no stunt doubles.)

Star Wars VI: Return Of The Jedi

Okay, just finished with this entire saga.

Luke wasn't too familiar about the emperor and its unanswered measured powers on the dark side of the Force.

Anakin/Vader has a mental weakness, which is worser than Luke's physical weakness. Anakin has love problems, when he himself as Vader, recognizes that Luke has a twin sister. Few seconds, Anakin/Vader grew mental love weakness when he notices that Luke's twin sister got wounded recently as revealed. That's when Luke became more mentally powerful than physically powerful.

After Anakin/Vader's arm got severed again, the emperor was the only one left as evil until Anakin/Vader killed the emperor by throwing him into the main reactor.

Anakin is back where he left and used to be: a new chancellor, even already dead, as a young man.

Luke does not have to worry about his physical weakness too much because he knows how to act like real jedi without getting distracted with too much mental weakness on love.

I know Luke never remembers Padme, but Leia also never remembers Anakin at the same time.

Now to look forward on the 7th one.

Dead Snow 2: Red VS Dead '14  (Martin hasn't had the best vacation. He accidentally killed his girlfriend with an axe. He cut his own arm off with a chainsaw. And his friends STILL got devoured by a battalion of Nazi Zombies. This morning, he woke up in a hospital bed with a new arm - but it's a super-powered Zombie arm that wants to kill him, and anyone else it can reach. With the help of his new Zombie Squad pals he's gonna deliver some payback to Colonel Herzog and his precious Nazi gold - by raising an undead army of his own.

I liked this more than the original.)

The Expendables 3.

Good movie, but wrong level rating.

Here are the reasons why:

1.) Entered #3, but failed to hit #1 afterwards.
2.) Too much build-up shooting deaths in the US west coast and some small-towns in the rest of this country.

You all think that PG-13 rating will work and Stallone with you all?

You're all wrong, even Stallone also!

There is nothing wrong gaining an audience with an R-rating!

You should have thought about this phrase that I had to non-stoppingly argue about this repeatedly:

"SAFETY in order to gain both more money and audience AT THE SAME TIME!"

I've WON the argument all over you all and I also Stallone LOST the fight against me! HA!

If you have a chance to change Expendables 3's rating from "PG-13" to "R" in less than a second, then would be completely EXCELLENT!"

I have a feeling that Pierce Brosnan, Jean Claude Van Damme, Steven Seagal, Mark Wahlberg, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, Christian Bale, Sam O'Neill, Robert De Niro and Aaron Eckert should be include in the fourth one.

Shallow Grave '87  (Passing through a small Georgia town on their way to Florida, four young college girls witness the local sheriff murder a woman. They try to escape before he murders them, too.

This was a pleasant surprise. Though I think it's been mislabeled as horror, and some reviewers even describe it as a slasher. Which it's not. Definitely a straight up thriller.)

Crash! '77  (After a woman buys a strange idol at a swap meet she ends up in the hospital after her jealous husband causes her to crash her car. Possessed by the idol, the woman sends her car on a driver-less rampage.

Released the same year as another evil car film The Car. Features Sue Lyon as the woman, whose most famous role was as the title character in 1962's Lolita.
This is the second film directed by Charles Band.)
