Lee Daniels' The Butler (2013) via Showtime-on-Demand

The film is based on the life of White House butler Eugene Allen who served from 1952-1986. It shows him serving the various U.S. Presidents through the changing race relations of the country.

Robin Williams has a very small part as President Eisenhower.

I saw The Butler when it was first out in the Theatre. Great movie, very heart touching! That was the last role I saw Robin Williams play. :( I was too young to remember Ike Eisenhower , I only remember him from pictures, people older than myself that saw the movie said Robin did a pretty good portrayal of him. ;) Oprah and all the other actors were really good too!;)

Tokyo Decadence (1992) on VHS

A Japanese pink film (Adult Film) about a young female escort who caters to wealthy Japanese men. She is very unhappy w/ what she does and she "goes through the motions" in order to deal w/ the sadness of her lover marrying someone else.

There's something in here for everyone: we have women dominating men, men dominating women, erotic asphyxiation, necrophilia fantasies, lesbian action...

* The film is rated NC-17 for its graphic sexual content and is reportedly banned in South Korea and Australia.

It was directed by filmmaker/novelist Ryū Murakami who's also known for writing the novel Audition.

The film's star, Miho Nikaido, would later appear in another S/M centered film, 2004's Going Under.

Disclosure (1994) on VHS

The film explores the double standards of sexual harassment in the work force between men and women. A successful computer expert is expecting a promotion, but the new job goes to a former lover of his. She calls him up to her office one night for "a meeting", but pretty much throws herself all over him.

He rejects her moves on him and she retaliates by claiming that he violated her. He then decides to file sexual harassment charges against her and faces personal and professional scrutiny when people believe he's the one who violated her.

* Based on the Michael Critchton novel.

Okay TMC...

The link here says the City Of Bones got negative reviews, but they are not forfeiting the sequel:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mortal_Instruments:_City_of_Bones#Sequels

They started planning the City Of Ashes back in July 2014 and right now, they are produce it along the way. It will take some time to finish it and more likely it get finished by early 2015 and then get aired in movies by late 2015.

We know there was a partial financial collapsing incident on teen marketing recently and that's why it got negative reviews, even if it is continuing its sequel. But now, they are fixing the incident one step at a time, so that's should not be a problem.

All Hallows' Eve '13  (While watching two children on Halloween night, a babysitter finds an old VHS tape in the kids' trick or treat bag. The tape features three tales of terror, all linked together by a murderous clown. As the night goes on strange things begin to occur in the house. It isn't long before the babysitter learns the horrifying truth... the maniacal clown is slowly working his way into her reality.

Finally, a clown on film that actually managed to creep me out, that's the main reason the film gets a thumbs up from me.)

The picture and sound are fantastic. The best I've ever seen the film look. Also listened to the audio commentary with actresses Lynne Griffin, Lesleh Donaldson- very informative and entertaining. With the film's troubled production, re writes, recasting, re shoots- which is why the film to 3 years took get released, it's amazing it turned out as good as it did.)

Willow Creek '13  (Okay, I enjoyed the film, but I was still disappointed, maybe because I was expecting more from writer/director Bobcat Goldthwait who has directed some excellent films including World's Greatest Dad and God Bless America. Maybe because I get my hopes up a little too high when it comes to bringing bigfoot and found footage together. Or maybe because it's yet another lost in the woods found footage film that borrows heavily from The Blair Witch Project. Granted when you're making a found footage set in the woods, the first film to come to mind will be Blair Witch, but that doesn't mean you have to use the found footage cliche tropes created by Blair Witch: character gets angry at other character for always filming. Characters get lost in woods pass the same fallen over tree.

Still though, did have some creepy moments, the lead couple were likable. And I liked the idea of them wanting to find the spot where Patterson and Gimlin shot their infamous bigfoot footage.)

A scientist is working on using virtual reality and drugs to enhance the intelligence of chimps. His project is funded by a military training group who want to use the research for warfare and he constantly clashes w/ them due to his pacifist nature.

When something goes wrong, he realizes that the best thing to do is to work on a human experiment and he chooses the local mentally handicapped gardener. The scientist's good intentions backfire as the gardener grows more disillusioned w/ the world.

* Stephen King sued to have his name taken off the film due to the screenplay being nothing like his short story.

Made in Oregon by an all local to Oregon cast and crew. Majority of it was filmed at the Pittock Mansion in Portland, OR. Though I do like the movie despite some of the very questionable acting, I think it would have been long forgotten if it hadn't been one of the films to become part of the Video Nasties back in the 80's.

There's a local news show interview included on the DVD from before the film was released. Maybe it was just nerves but the writer/director couldn't seem to give a straight answer, fortunately one of the cast members was there and she at least knew about the movie she was appearing in.)

I purchased the dvd from amazon.com. It is an import. Terrible grainy picture. The original tv mini-series was around 6 hours long(or more) . Due to the butchering of the film the plot gets terribly disjointed and confusing if one has never seen the original. But right now it's better than nothing. Why this masterpiece has never been commercially distributed is a mystery. Bette Davis is at her best here! By the way the child screaming in the photo is a young Tracey Gold:)

The Watcher In The Woods (1980)- Bette Davis, Carroll Baker, David McCallum, Lynn-Holly Johnson, Kyle Richards

Carroll Baker had an interesting career. For nearly a decade, from the late 1960's, to the late 1970's, she starred in a ton of Italian films of the Giallo and Horror genres.

I'd imagine that even now, she still has a loyal and devoted cult following as an Italian B-Movie queen.

Superstition '82  (A family moves into a long-condemned New England household with a big pond out back that everybody loves to swim in. Soon, however, they find that the pond was the site of the execution- by-drowning of a witch three hundred years before, and she's back to revenge herself on anybody nearby.)

The Phantom of the Opera (1998) on VHS

This is Dario Argento's take on the classic novel and he does change a lot of things around.

Julian Sands' "Phantom" was abandoned as a child and raised by rats in the catacombs way before the opera house was built. He is not grotesquely disfigured and doesn't wear a mask (despite the cover featuring one).

He also has a little bit of supernatural powers as people feel "coldness" whenever he is nearby and he gets into people's thoughts.

Asia Argento, who regularly appears in her father's movies, plays Christine Daaé.

Comedy and horror. It's a rare horror movie that's both cheesy and actually creepy. Diller is great as Miss Poopinplatz. This is one of the few times she appears on screen without wearing a wig. On the commentary the director said she invited him over to her house to visit her wig room so he could help her pick out the wig to wear for the movie, he asked her if she'd be willing to not wear a wig and she agreed.

The cross and the switchblade from 1970 starring Pat Boone and Eric Estrada ! OMG, what an intense film!!! The true story of a country preacher and a street gang leader , David Wilkerson and Nicky Cruz. The preacher came to the really bad ghettos of NY city to preach religion. And how the toughest guy , Nicky found God! This movie showed the really bad side of NY city back in the day. Very gritty, poverty, street gang war and heroin addiction. I was in tears it was so deep! A must see for those who are early 70's movie fans and those who like true life stories! Not to mention. Erik Estrada was about 20 or 21 years old in this and one of his first roles, and he was really good! He didn't have his teeth capped yet, and he was still so young and cute, , but played a street thug with so much raw emotion!!!

And Also Chupacabra vs. the Alamo from 2013!

Dead Of Night '77  (This anthology tells three stories: a man buys a car that takes him back and forth through time; a tale of vampires; and a distraught mother asks for her drowned son to come back to life and gets more than she bargained for.

Enjoyable made-for-TV anthology. Directed by Dan Curtis, and penned by Richard Matheson. The first and third stories are my favorites. Ed Begley Jr stars in the first story.)

The Last Riders!!!

I'm on my Erik Estrada kick! He played an outlaw biker, turned good guy, turned vigilante. This was on the lines of a Charles Bronson movie. More of a guys movie. (my hubby liked it) IDK if I would have liked it so much if Erik wasn't starring in it or another hot guy.

It was from the early 90's. He was already over 40 but still WAY HOT!!!!;) A lot of the movie his hair was curly and wild and he had a beard and was unkempt but sexy!!! And OMG it showed him kissing and in bed with a lady. Actually in love with a lady. ( Romantic, my heart going pitter-patter) OMG she is one lucky lady!!;) And he kissed another girl in it too! I have to watch it again alone so I can drool over him!!!:D

And I'm so used to seeing him as nice, wholesome Ponch. It's weird seeing him cussing, drinking beer and shooting people!!!! Just like in the Cross and the Switchblade seeing him all "bad boy' is really sexy. But I still love him as a nice sweet highway cop too of course !!! :happyface

I recommend it!!!

Was Gone Girl good? I want to see it! ;)

Apart from the end scene of Gone Girl, which I thought was weak and too abrupt, the rest of the movie is absolutely brilliant, and borders on classic... so, yes, it's very good, and definitely worth watching...

Audrey Rose (1977) on VHS

A man believes that the young daughter of a wealthy NYC couple is the reincarnation of his deceased child who died in a car accident.

* Audrey Rose novel author Frank De Felitta wrote the film's screenplay.

I was reading that people (mainly critics) at the time dismissed Audrey Rose as an "Exorcist clone", but it really isn't.

Reg. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, I still haven't gotten around to the 2010 Guillermo del Toro produced remake. How was that?

I liked it, not as creepy as the original, but still a decent film. Bailee Madison is one of the rare non-annoying child actresses.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown '14  (After the annual showing of the 1976 film The Town That Dreaded Sundown, residents of Texarkana are soon in fear for their lives as a new phantom killer is copycatting the death scenes from the film, and may have a connection to the real Moonlight Murders from the 1940's.

If it wasn't going to be a docudrama about the real incident, I'm glad this wasn't just a remake, but a reboot/sequel whatever you call it.
Charles B. Pierce Jr. [son of the original film's director] appears as a character. And the real life Charles B. Pierce Jr. makes a cameo.
Also Danielle Harris makes a cameo, but I missed her. Will have to watch again.)

Columbo; "Prescription Murder"(1968) - Peter Falk, Gene Barry, Katherine Justice

this was a 2 hour pilot episode. There was a second pilot episode (1971) that led to Columbo being part of the rotating NBC Mystery Movie which also included" McCloud" and "McMillan And Wife".

Jaws was one of the biggest hits of 1975, and naturally, everybody wanted a piece of the action.

Perhaps the most well-known film to ride off of the success of Jaws, was 1977's Orca: The Killer Whale. A film that, according to its star Richard Harris, was unfairly labeled "A Jaws Ripoff".

I love most of the Jaws rip offs that came out back then- Piranha, Alligator, the two bear-themed ones Grizzly and Claws. Not to forget all of the non-American ones like Tintorera: Killer Shark, and Devil Fish (about a shark-octopus hybrid which predates SyFy Channel's Sharktopus by decades.)

There's also the Jaws spoof Trees that's almost a scene for scene parody except the great white shark is a great white pine.

And there's also Blades, which is Jaws on a golf course with a giant lawnmower instead of a shark, the tagline: "Just When You Thought It Was Safe To Putt."

I love the tagline for 1980's Blood Beach, which plays on the Jaws tagline: Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water - you can't get to it.

I've seen at least part of Tintorera. Easily one of the most badly-dubbed films I had ever seen. Susan George and Fiona Lewis are British, but are clearly dubbed by American actresses. That's how badly-dubbed that is.

I don't even know if there's a version with their original voices undubbed; the film was a Mexican AND British production, and some foreign-language films with British actors would have two different English dubs: One with the original voices of said British actors, and another with American actors dubbing them.
