Dude111 06-03-2014, 11:26 PM I was gonna get that Jim but it does not have DOLBY STEREO as the audio.... ITS DOLBY DIGITAL and wouldnt sound that good in analog so Why bother getting it?? (I can see it on cable with compromised sound)
I only get VHS stuff if its TOTALLY ANALOG (Dolby Stereo (or mono)) as VHS really is NOT A DIGITAL PLATFORM!! (Thank goodness)
Some Movies I have ARE NOT DOLBY STEREO but the digital feeds ARE NOT ON THE VHS TAPE resulting in excellent analog audio!!!
1) Marked Man - 1996
2) Entrapment - 1999
3) Saw - 2004
I WAS QUITE AMAZED THEY DID A SEPERATE TRANSFER OF THIS MOVIE SEEING ITS FROM 2004 .. THEY USED THE ANALOGUE MASTER ON THE TAPE AND ITS GEORGEOUS! (Well as good as a 2004 movie can be (Video could be slightly better but THE AUDIO IS EXCELLENT (100% analog))
The Movie saw has DIGITAL CRAP all thru it but on the VHS tape ITS JUST THE ANALOG MASTER and its still georgeous!! (Goes to show they dont really need all that crap to make a movie good (Its BETTER w/o it))
Saw 2 is also on VHS but I do not think they did the same thing,I think they used the same master they used on the DVD.... (Its letterbox on the VHS tape also (I think anyway))

Dude111 06-03-2014, 11:37 PM Rambo 4 is not on VHS so i do not think any of it is in analog Vahan :(

JamesG 06-04-2014, 09:02 PM Girls in Prison (1994) on VHS
This was a made-for-Showtime movie that was part of the short-lived Rebel Highway series.
The films were made as a homage to the 1950s low-grade "drive-in classics" w/ a 90s edge.
An aspiring singer is framed for the murder of a record company president and gets a life sentence.
She then befriends a select group of inmates at the all-women penitentiary who believe she is innocent and they protect her from "hit girls" hired to cover the real culprit's tracks.
This one is cheesy as all hell, but that's what makes it entertaining. There is also plenty of T&A for the shower scenes and all of the girls are
Tom Towles plays one of the prison guards.

If you're looking for other fun cheesy Mexican horror-
Cemetery Of Terror aka Cementerio del terror(1985): It's sort of like a cross between Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, and The Evil Dead.
Grave Robbers aka Ladrones de tumbas (1990): A dead monk comes back to life and goes on a gory killing spree.
Vacation Of Terror aka Vacaciones de terror(1989): A witch possessed doll terrorizes a vacationing family.
Vacation Of Terror 2 aka Vacaciones de terror 2(1990): Over the top sequel.
Hell's Trap aka Trampa infernal (1990): Crazed Vietnam vet who wears a Michael Myers-ish mask, and has a Freddyish glove hunts teens in the woods.

One of the strangest things about this film is that it was directed by David Nelson, especially considering how brutal some of the killings are. Stars Playboy Playmate Susan Kiger who also appeared as the blue alien at the whore house in the Dorothy Stratten scifi comedy Galaxina.
I mainly watched this again because this is the first time I had seen it uncut. It's really a dull slasher outside some of the killings. The best part of the film is one of the characters tells the 'Maniacs Lick Hands Too' urban legend. All of the characters are bad, the supposed teens all look like they're in their 30's. It's not cheesy enough to be fun like Don't Go In The Woods, or bad enough to be entertaining like Pieces.)

This is a very nice 2-disc set that features the original Japanese version of Gojira and the version released in the U.S. featuring Raymond Burr's scenes.
There is a small booklet inside that explains a little bit about the film and why a different U.S. version was made.
It explained that the World War II themes (Nuclear Weapons) is what set Gojira apart from all of the other monster movies of the time and future. Japan was still feeling the affects of the atomic bomb in 1954 and the destruction that the monster caused was almost identical to the real-life war horrors.
Raymond Burr was brought in to perform new scenes and provide narration for the version released in America. He was supposed to be a news reporter investigating the mysterious destruction of ships out at sea.
This was to make the film more "suitable" for Western audiences to enjoy as almost all references to nuclear weapons and the arranged marriage/love affair between the main characters were taken out.

Torgo, was it Marilyn Burns or British actress Suzy Kendall who really pioneered the "Final Girl" trait? A trait so frequently seen in Horror films.
Kendall starred in 1973's Italian flick Torso. Burns, of course, starred in 1974's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Both films existed before 1978's Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis.

I would say both helped create the final girl trait that we now know, maybe more so with Texas Chainsaw as it was more well known. Though there were a few films with final girls before those, I guess those would be proto-final girls.

The film takes place in a futuristic society where parents have the option of planting memory devices into their newborns so that every moment of their lives are recorded.
Their chips are then taken out after death and future generations can view their deceased relatives' lives.
Robin Williams plays a "professional cutter" whose job is to "edit" the lives of immoral people so that their loved ones will remember them "in their own way".
Williams' latest client is a high-ranking official in the company that developed the implant technology. Organizations against the implant devices want access to the implant to expose the "dirt" that might be there.
