Bonniegirl 01-14-2017, 08:21 PM Is anybody watching the game? J just got home to the Hub watching, I can't get over how the Falcons are beating the Seahawks!!! Either one is OK as far as I'm concerned ! Just so the next game, hoping the Texans beat the Patriots, which I doubt is going to happen! :(
Torgo 01-14-2017, 08:23 PM But Mr. Torgo gets the "Special Guest Star" credit like Heather Locklear did on Melrose Place. Remember that? She was on there every week!
Yeah, plus I want the special rectangular outline around my name!
She was the actress shows brought on to help save their ratings.
Torgo 01-14-2017, 08:24 PM Adorable picture! Cute Daughter and cute little puppy!:)
Thank you, Bonnie!:)
Torgo 01-14-2017, 08:25 PM Is my Hubby Arnie Wakeman "pleasuring" Jessica behind my back????

SISTERWIFE!
Yes, that was the back story. In a deleted scene she broke into his house, put her hands through his luxurious hair and well I can't say the rest on a family forum. :happyface :D
Let's just say that wheelchair got more of a "workout" than Jane Fonda and Jon Voight's did in "Coming Home"! :happyface

Welcome to Cabot Co-oh-oh-oh-ve!
Anna Karenina 01-14-2017, 09:36 PM What did you think of it?? ;)
I wanted more of Marvelous Michael naturally. But it was a solid ep with a disturbing ending.
I can't reveal too much more for those like Matt Torgo who haven't seen it yet.
I will wait until everybody else has taken a look.
What I can say was that is was well cast and the pace was good.
Michael had a good scene with Dame Angela and like others in the cast got to spar with her. Again, I need to keep mum until everyone here gets a chance to watch.
Anna Karenina 01-14-2017, 09:38 PM Yeah, plus I want the special rectangular outline around my name!

Yes.
He would have been a much happier man with Bonnie Wakeman by his side.
She loved to "wake" her "man" every morning.
Doesn't Lembeck get all the best character names? They are all very distinctive. :)

I'm using my dying phone battery at halftime to note at 10pm EST NBC is running an abbreviated (an hour instead of 90 minutes) Carrie Fisher SNL hosted episode from 9/18/78.

Bonniegirl 01-15-2017, 03:43 AM OK I was TOTALLY mixed up!!! I thought the lead guy who visits Cabot Cove was Dack Rambo!!! He isn't, he is actor John Glover! Dack Rambo was Bill the car salesman! I was wondering why when I was looking for pics of him and his twin Brother, why he looked so different than he looked in Murder she wrote! DUH!!! Cause I got the actors names mixed up!
John Glover is the one I found to be a FANTASTIC actor! He was haunting almost. Like an old time stage actor. And I found him really attractive /sexy too! ;) (Those piercing eyes, and that cool voice) !Totally different type than Michael/ Arnie! But WOW, yeah seeing it mainly for Michael of course ,but this guy is HOT too in a totally different way!;)
And Dack Rambo, no offense and may he RIP, but no attraction what so ever to him!!:p

Hi Bonnie Boo.
I so agree with you about John Glover.
Such a great accomplished actor.
He played one of the most truly evil men I have ever seen portrayed in a movie. I have never forgotten his performance. It is so disturbing.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHxsx7PHNsg
But yes, he is very compelling on screen and very versatile. He also won a Tony for his stage work.

Hi Bradley Boo.
Dack Rambo was a gorgeous actor but a very different type in terms of raw intensity. I first noticed him as the guy who came between Cliff and Nina on All My Children. He was sexy as all get out back then.
Here is an interesting article about him battling AIDS and how being gay affected his role of Jack Ewing on the set of Dallas.

Torgo 01-15-2017, 10:15 AM John Glover plays the dad in the 1989 surreal scifi comedy Meet The Hollowheads (Life On The Edge) Juliette Lewis plays his daughter, and her real life brother plays her older brother.

John Glover is such a chameleon. That looks like a creepy yet fun 80's movie. Totally tubular!
Thank you, Matt Houston!

Wow!! Yeah I remember this movie! And the true story too! Some people are really truly evil!:(
Torgo 01-15-2017, 12:09 PM I think I may have seen the episode before, but years and years ago. It didn't look familiar until the scene with Lembeck standing up and walking over to grab the bill. And the flashback scene was familiar.
Definitely one of the better episodes.
Lembeck wasn't the killer, he's just a slimeball.;)
I think the important question to ask is:
Would Amos visit Jessica if she didn't give him food?
The coach was played by Kenneth McMillan, lots and lots of movies, but my main memories of him are from- Salem's Lot, and another King film Cat's Eye. He also played Randy Quaid's co-worker in Heartbeeps (that's the one where Andy Kaufman plays a robot), and he was in the 1984 version of Dune.
The blonde actress, who had a Donna Dixon thing going on was in the 1982 horror spoof National Lampoon's Class Reunion.

Shelley Smith had the Donna Dixon beauty but also actual acting ability. ;)
DD was perhaps the most beautiful actress of the early eighties but she made Teri Copley look like Meryl Streep. I wonder why she had that fake, I am doing my best attempt at a Jackie Kennedy impression. She was from Virginia! From my neck of the woods! Sort of. ;) I think if she got some acting lessons she could have been a bigger star instead of being Mrs. Doctor Detroit. I swear Matt Houston, there is something about chatting with you that brings out all of my 1980's references...
I recorded the episode so I as I told BonTon privately last night I need to watch it again to go over the plot points but to see Jack Doyle from Rhoda confess the evil thing he did to that poor guy and how he let an innocent man go to jail for 20 years made me ill. Not physically ill, if you are reading this, Babalu.;)
Oh, c'mon, Matt. You know Miss Flasher gave him more than food. She didn't just give Amos a Happy Day she gave him a Happy Ending! :happyface :happyface
I will be coming back with more comments after I watch the show again and take some notes.

Oh but such a CUTE, HOT slimeball!! ;) :D
OMG! When he got up and walked with that cocky, swagger I melted! ;)  And I was like OMG he really isn't paralyzed ,cool!!! I thought that was a cool twist! ;) Can you imagine how upset I was at first when I thought he really was crippled !!! :( In the first scene he was in I was like OH no not my baby!!!! :(
If I were him when Jessica came back in the house and he was busted. I would have thrown my hands in the air and said "It's a miracle ,I can walk, I can walk, I'm cured  Oh sweet Jesus" !!!
OK . And Cabot Cove has a poor side of town!!?? And if you have a rich uncle that leaves you 50,000 dollars( which is a nice amount in the early 80's),he couldn't have bought his nephew new jeans when he was a boy? "I was poor Arnie from the poor side of town with holes in my jeans"!
And normally does a woman sell her deceased husband's car to the man who is just out of jail for murdering her husband 20 years prior ? :D
Anna Karenina 01-15-2017, 12:48 PM I have read a few blogs about this episode using them as Cliff's notes to try and figure out the plot points and came across this good commentary.
"The Durbin character has a level of intensity I don't think we often see on M,SW. He was kind of terrifying? And rightly so: I'd be mad, too, if I spent 20 years in the clink for a crime I didn't commit. But he had this whole zen-revenge thing going that was quite chilling.
That said, the real star of the show was the fashion, again! I was in middle school when this episode aired and I'm pretty sure I had the same high-necked pastel pink top and pale blue long denim skirt outfit Bill's wife was wearing. The one that was super cute back then but now looks like Amish athletic wear. Oh, and one of her belts, that was pointy in the front and fastened in the back... I loved those!
The whole setup of the episode reminded me quite a lot of That Championship Season: An aging coach, his four prized athletes, the small town, the bravado of those glory days held up like a fading cheer despite them growing older and growing apart, and of course The Terrible Secret.
I am continually amazed by Cabot Cove real estate. There are mansions there!

Cabot Cove pretty much had everything. Jessica didn't even need a car: everything was within biking distance. People in big cities don't even have that. If it weren't for the wacky murder rate, that was the place to be!

You are pointing out some good plot holes, Bonnie. Only in Cabot Cove does weird **** like this occur.
But that would have been fun if Arnie Wakeman tried to pull that "It's a miracle ,I can walk!" stuff off when he was busted. Why didn't he just wheel himself over to the door and lock it to make sure he wasn't caught by her. Gorgeous, swarthy but dumb as a bunch of rocks, slimeball!
Also has been pointed out by a few bloggers, how judgmental was JF to John Glover's character? She is always on the search for the truth. Why was she giving him such a hard time? The man had the right to seek justice!
John Glover plays the dad in the 1989 surreal scifi comedy Meet The Hollowheads (Life On The Edge) Juliette Lewis plays his daughter, and her real life brother plays her older brother.
He'll always be Lionel Luthor on Smallville to me.
Torgo 01-15-2017, 01:00 PM Shelley Smith had the Donna Dixon beauty but also actual acting ability.
Haha oh yeah, Donna wasn't the greatest at acting or comedy. Too bad Shelley never did more than one movie.
Yes, Elyse Keaton, I do tend to bring the 1980's out in people haha I do make a lot of 80's references on and offline.
It did make me physically ill, so according to posts in that thread, I have problems.;)

Yeah, Cabot Cove has a slum? I bet they're nice slum houses over there!

Glover got the shaft, imprisoned for 20 years for something he didn't do, and Jessica treated him worse than a guy who was scamming an insurance company.
Torgo 01-15-2017, 01:07 PM Oh, and Bonnie, we had movie night last night, my niece picked out Zootopia. Loved it, very funny movie. I know you talked about that one a few times :)

HaHa! You and I are two of a kind in that way. I love that time in entertainment. I used to go to the movies all the time back then. I don't think I have seen a theatrical movie since Saving Mr. Banks. The prices are way too high now, too. I loved it when they had those places where you could see a movie for one dollar. The prices are way too high these days. :(
I would love to go back to that era.

I wonder why they wrote her like that.
She is usually the even tempered voice of reason character. It didn't make sense.

Practically lived at the theaters in the 80's, lot's of double features for $1. Plus lots of renting movies from the video store. Friends that I've known since we were kids to this day make random 80's movie references to each other. It's almost like a secret language between us.:)
Really only go now if it's something special on the big screen, like Rogue One, or getting to see a horror movie with my daughter at the theater is always a treat. Or the wife and I will go to one of the pub theaters so we can drink beer and watch a movie, usually those are second run movies for cheaper prices.
But yes, tickets are way too expensive, I'd rather take that money and buy a movie that we can watch in the convenience of our home.

Yes, and now with big screen TV's so much less expensive and not as bulky it makes more sense to have a collection of movies you can watch over and over again.
Also they have those multi pack 80's themed on Amazon for a very low price.
I can watch them and stay a teenager forever.
What kind of movies does Mrs. Torgo like? :)

Yeah, Cabot Cove has a slum? I bet they're nice slum houses over there!
Yeah, he should have pretended he just fell out of the wheelchair or something. But no, he pretty much was already across the room standing at the table when she saw him! I loved the look on his face! He has that look a lot in different roles I've seen when he is uncomfortable or upset about something! :) He has such a cute animated face! :eyes: Just like his Dad Harvey did too! :)

Like when he got those prank Christmas calls at the office. ;)

I think because Andrew Durbin was an outsider (small towns are like that) ! She thought of him as a pot stirrer ! And she thought if it wasn't for him Bill wouldn't have gotten murdered! :( But on the other hand, the coach and Bill would have gotten away with murder and theft had he not come to Cabot Cove ,so that isn't good either!
And with Arnie, she knew him all his life. He was a local boy who used to be his English teacher! :) Plus he really helped crack the case! He gave some really useful information as to what really happened the night of that dance! ;) So actually my boy started out as a sleazeball but really was a hero! ;)

What kind of movies does Mrs. Torgo like? :)
Yes, have lots of the multi packs of movie, a lot of the 50 movie and 100 movie sets that are mostly junk movies, but for the price you can't knock 'em.
But I also have some of the ones with the 80's movies. I have a 50 movie set Excellent Eighties that has a wide range of mostly b-movies from comedies to thrillers.
She loves classic film, almost anything from the Silents to the 60's. Foreign films, arthouse. Documentaries. Scifi is another favorite. And she does love comedies from almost all of the decades. She's a huge Jodie Foster fan, and loves Steve Buscemi.

I have been looking at so many Lembeck pictures and clips lately that I know JUST what you are talking about with his mannerisms.
Lee Lembeck for me was one of his personal high points.
His jawline as he was bragging about the skeleton? Unbelievably gorgeous! :happyface

Jodie's not a fan of The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane? That was a scary little thriller.
Here is a You Tube comment about it that amuses me. :D
"That lucky bastard Martin Sheen got to spank that cute ass."
Do you and Mrs. Torgo like The Accused and Silence of the Lambs? Her Oscar winning performances?

Nah, you're safe. Bonnie mentioned the walking the first time around, and I only skimmed through the other posts today. So the plot and murderer reveal is still a secret

I think she wasn't happy about her performance, she didn't put her all into it.
That comment sounds like something Martin Sheen's character would have said!
Yep, both of those are excellent. Four Corners is another of her underrated movies, it has Tim Robbins, set in the 60's.
Also her Disney movies like Freaky Friday. Oh and her part in the musical Bugsy Malone with all of the kids playing adults.

Though I like Charles In Charge and Zapped! I agree, none of his later performances were as good as this one. Hey, it was so good Garry Marshall cast him on Happy Days after seeing it. I'm not sure how I feel about Chachi, his character could get kind of grating, I did prefer him when he was younger and it was a crush on Joanie over their later relationship.
The movie is great. The sets, the 1920's cars (With peddles!), Paul Williams' fantastic songs.

I know! The first 2 seasons they were pretty spot on, but after they went to a live audience and Fonzie became a superhero and the ratings took off, they stopped caring.
Granted everyone on Walton's mountain all have modern haircuts. Even Morgan Stevens wore the same outfits on both ODAAT and The Waltons!

I missed out on the Morgan Stevens discussion the other day. He was very nice to look at. They should have played up the triangle more with him and Lembeck and Phillips. It was a seriously rushed story line.
Absolutely, they jumped the shark pretty fast so they didn't need that shark or those barrels! The Fonzie propping changed the period aspect of the show for better or worse.
But still it was a very enjoyable show with a lot of huggin' and learnin'!

But still it was a very enjoyable show with a lot of huggin' and learnin'!
People say it was when Fonzie jumped the shark that the show jumped the shark, but for me was when he showed up on the beach wearing a leather jacket!!!!
Y'know, despite the show getting silly in the later years I still like it.
Bonniegirl 01-15-2017, 08:13 PM Nobody can compete with this for cuteness.
I KNOW!!!!! Wasn't he as cute as a basket of kittens as Lee in that Room 222 ep.?? ;) And so young! Besides that, he was SO CUTE as Vinny Fazio and as Dooley on Happy Days. Than HOT older cute as Tony Mercer in Side by Side!! MAN , I LOVE him in that!!!: :eyes: And now as Arnie! Very similar to Tony Mercer, but TM was maybe just even a smidgen hotter than AW!!!! ;) And of course in various eps. as Max in ODAAT where I fell in love with him originally, esp. at his hottest in Season 9!;) And of course gotta love bad boy Jay Kavell from Gorp!:D :)

Yeah, that was so ridiculous to see him on the beach with that leather jacket. I hated it when they as you said made him into a superhero. Just obnoxious. Also as much as I love Henry Winkler, when Fonzie would be in crying scenes, they were so over the top within the context of this light comedy that I would just laugh. Is it just me?
That being said, it is still a favorite maybe even because of its flaws. Like ODAAT it is enjoyable for the snark value as much as the familiarity of the characters.

No, not just you.
I gotta say, my favorite HD moment was when Richie first met Lori Beth and she asked him what Fraternity he belonged to. Richie's reply "Mama Papa Sister".
Bonniegirl 01-15-2017, 08:32 PM Maybe he marketed his own brand of hair gel?
Yeah I admit, he was kind of heavy handed with the gel as Arnie.:D His hair was beautiful but he could have used a little less gel!:)
As Tony Mercer is hair was pretty much like that but less gel and longer in the back! Just beautiful!!!!!:)
Bonniegirl 01-15-2017, 08:42 PM Not many guys can pull off a cheek to cheek hopping like Jay Kavell!
 I KNOW really!!! That must have been really wild filming that! :D Two men must have felt pretty confident and comfortable in their masculinity to pull that off!!!;) :D Some guys would have been afraid it would seem gay to have their butt cheeks against another guys like that!;) But it didn't seem/look that way at all, it was hilarious !!! :D

You weren't worried with Aaron Rodgers back there, were you?
By the way, did you see the question I left you in the cute pics thread this morning? I was kind of wondering about the answer. Or was it too personal?
Anna Karenina 01-15-2017, 09:13 PM Someone I've known for many years grew up with Herbie Edelman. And that's what everyone called him in those days.

Hey , I had that same up do at my Sister's wedding circa 1984!;) I thought I looked gorgeous!!! Well, I did, as did Valerie back than! It was the style!:) But looking back now at the pics from her wedding , it's like I had a bird's nest on my head!!! :D
Anna Karenina 01-15-2017, 09:17 PM No, not just you.
I gotta say, my favorite HD moment was when Richie first met Lori Beth and she asked him what Fraternity he belonged to. Richie's reply "Mama Papa Sister".
That was an inspired moment, Ron Howard was such a good, subtle actor, I wish he would put himself in one of his movies.

WOW!!! What a game, but Packers pulled it off!!!;) I thought my poor Hub would have a heart attack! I know my blood pressure was up there for a while! But yeah, Aaron's amazing!;)
So Packers/ Falcons next game!!! How will that go? And how about Steelers and Chiefs? I'm thinking Steelers, but I kind of would like to see the Chiefs win!:)
Torgo 01-15-2017, 09:22 PM That was an inspired moment, Ron Howard was such a good, subtle actor, I wish he would put himself in one of his movies.
Yeah, he starred in his very very early movies. But after Night Shift he stopped.

You two ladies are gorgeous no doubt.
And your version of it was probably very lovely.
But I can see why Val looks so perturbed in that pic. To me it looks like a magenta bird's nest.
She is so beautiful though it doesn't matter. I can see her looking at it today and going into one of her infectious giggles. She seems to have a great sense of humor about herself.
I can't hold a candle to her beauty so I should probably shut up about this.

Since Ron is friends with both of them I wonder if he ever tried to patch things up between them.

That is cool that they are still Bosom Buddies, friends, comrades and chums!
Hanks is by all accounts a truly nice guy but it seems that even basically nice guys can have their dark moments and well the only thing I have to add is that if Marian Cunningham got a hold of him, there would be hell to pay. ;) :)

Alex Cooper 01-16-2017, 03:25 AM Good night then sweet Anna!

Alex Cooper 01-16-2017, 03:30 AM Or the Spider-Man villain, who probably has the least interesting "costume" in the history of comics (even Hydro-Man's basic black T is more stylish)...
Alex Cooper 01-16-2017, 03:32 AM Or the suave, European, Michael Rennie Bat-villain...
Alex Cooper 01-16-2017, 03:42 AM Oh yeah, or the ultra-hip Vertigo version...now even I am starting to go to sleep...

Thank you, Alex!
I think I'm most familiar with Marvel's Sandman, and not because of the Same Raimi movie. Also the Vertigo Sandman, I didn't read a lot of it, but I used to buy Dark Horse Presents, which had various short comic stories, it was also my introduction to Sin City, and Paul Chadwick's Concrete (a personal favorite)

I was thinking, what if Arnie had suspected that Jessica suspected him of not really being paralyzed or for whatever reason, like she wasn't far enough from the house and maybe she could still see him through a window or something! Anyway what if he did wheel himself over to the table to retrieve that mail, and he saw it was really her phone bill? What if he really was the killer, and her plan backfired??? Wouldn't Jessica be afraid than,if she walked back in and he was still in the wheelchair? ;)

Good point! She would've been in danger because he wouldn't want her around if he knew she suspected him (if he was the killer), he could kill her in her sleep, then he'd still have good alibi because how would could someone who couldn't walk get up and down the stairs.
Anna Karenina 01-16-2017, 01:25 PM Sorry, Elyse Keaton, our Internet went kaput again!:(

Would Arnie Wakeman be brought up on charges for fraud?
I remember watching a lot of 20/20's where people fake that kind of thing so they can get disability payments.
It was kind of novel to see Captain Lembeck play a fairly villainous character.
I bet he enjoyed the change. :)

Men's shoe prints on the newly polished floor! Couldn't it be another man's shoe prints? He could have had visitors at his house. If he was paralyzed he would need in home help right? ;)
So even if he wasn't the killer, but he was really paralyzed and he wheeled himself over to the table and she came back in , he'd be like WTF? Why did you leave your phone bill here? Than what would she say to that?
Speaking of in home help, I volunteer to help him get dressed, help him bathe, and any other "services" he requires!;) :D

My mom and I were chuckling about his "poor me" moment. As they say, "Poor me, poor me. Pour me another drink!"
Then the real killer had his "poor me" moment when he said he had been carrying around this secret for 20 years! Oh, how he suffered. Some people are so into their own pain they can't see the pain they have caused others. And again, JF was so hard on the John Glover character who suffered longer than any of them! What was up her uppity butt that day? :(
As you say, AW really helped out with the case but I will add only because he was busted. (I hope you are not mad at me for criticizing him. I am just being candid here.)
But who cares if Arnie was a slimeball or a reformed one who ended up helping out in the end? He looked HOT with his white suit, jelled and silky black hair surrounded by his palm trees. ;)

He looked HOT with his white suit, jelled and silky black hair surrounded by his palm trees. ;)
I need to see this one again just to watch his Saturday Night Fever "strut" to the desk... :happyface
I know!!!! I can't wait till Thursday when I'm off from work, I'm gonna watch this yet again along with other things from my collection of Lembeck DVD's while drinking some wine! I really go gaga over him when I'm buzzed!!!::crazy: :eyes:

So cute!! Look at those adorable facial expressions!!!:) How could Jessica stay mad at him, he just melts your heart!:)
And Durbin , poor guy being locked up for 20 years for a crime he didn't commit.:( All he was doing was hitchhiking around to anti Vietnam rallies! I liked how he lashed out at Jessica at the end. His eyes blazing!! He shot daggers at her! He is a good looking guy in a cool, sinister, spooky type way! Very interesting with his wild eyes and skinny face:eek: ! I need to see him in other roles! That was great casting picking him for Andrew Durbin!;)

I am glad Durbin got to LET HER HAVE IT! Her busybody self... he should have called Mrs. Potts on the fact that so many people get murdered around her, she is a bigger curse than Oliver on The Brady Bunch...

But since you asked, here's the ep:

Only problem is it's annoyingly broken into 6 parts

There are a few shots of Shaun and Parker in shorts when they go to Hawaii and other tropical local. And one episode Parker Stephenson rides a motorcycle in his underwear.
Torgo 01-16-2017, 07:21 PM That is okay, Matt Houston.
Mine goes out all the time, I find myself constantly having to jiggle the router to keep it turned on.
Jiggling the router just gets me into trouble.

No ML in the Hardy Boys, but there is a long haired A. Martinez in one episode.

Yes!:) I was going to comment on it but my mind has been off since I got home from work. I love that episode, especially when they actually have Doug and Carrie made up like the painting!

That was hilarious.
Also how Deacon and Kelly had that hideous portrait made up for them to get back at them for the "offensive" jazz figurines.

They went through all that trouble instead of just telling them they didn't like the painting.

Yes, why couldn't they have just told them that? Truthfully, I didn't think those figurines were all that bad and Doug and Carrie obviously were not racists and didn't mean them any harm but I guess Deacon and Kelly saw it a different way. I forget what they look like at this point, maybe they WERE that offensive. ;)
But it made for a hilarious episode all the same.
I wish Kevin Can Wait would just suck it up and hire Victor Williams as a new cast member. They had great "friend" chemistry. :)

I think it was because the figurines were blackfaced. But Carrie and Doug bought it because they knew Deacon and Kelly liked jazz.
On Kevin Can Wait, they need to get rid of the wife, the kids, Kevin's friends, bring on Leah, Victor Williams, Patton Oswalt, and change Gary Valentine back into Kevin's cousin.
Nordy 01-16-2017, 09:18 PM I had to look and see this wasn't King of Queens message board..lol. I love that show. Well Leah Remini....anyway how is everyone??

Let the church say AMEN! Gut the whole cast and start the whole thing again please!
Yes, that was the logic behind those figurines! They liked jazz! But the Palmer's were kind of like the Heffernan's in the sense that they liked to be passive aggressive. Remember when they had to "watch" 75 year old Arthur because the Heffernan's spent so much time watching their kids and they gave him all of that spicy food just to get back at them.
I love that show. The characters were so petty and vindictive in a funny way.
