Bonniegirl 09-11-2016, 08:12 PM Hey Bonnie Koolheimer! Hey Little Brother!
I tried to catch some of "The Cage" last night but my "mommy" made me turn it around so unfortunately I can't give much in the way of commentary. ;) What I observed before the channel got changed was an extremely beautiful Jeffrey Hunter who looked like 60's era Larry Hagman and this gorgeous blonde lady at his side. I wish I could have seen it in its entirety but Mama still rules the roost. I thank God she is still here as my partner in crime. :D
Despite the overwhelming sadness of this day of remembrance, we have to find comfort in one another.
I am grateful for all my funny and loving friends here, especially now on this day. You all have kind hearts and great senses of humor and seem to "get" me as I "get" you. I could never take any of you for granted. I am truly Blessed!
I am also grateful that that the weather is taking a turn for the better, it is so pleasant here in Anytown USA. I love the light breeze that is here now, makes the day so much easier to get through.
Well 2 classic Brady Bunch episodes on Me TV today, Marcia, Marcia, Marcia and Getting Davey Jones. I still don't see how Jan's teacher couldn't do basic math and get the score on the "What America Means To Me" essay right...:D That was so ridiculous.
As you probably know Maureen McCormick will be on Dancing With The Stars tomorrow night along with TAXI star and memory expert Marilu Henner. I love both those ladies, bought their books, even talked with Miss Henner on the radio about 20 years ago and she couldn't be sweeter. I have a pretty good autobiographical memory too but she is just a freak. In a good way!
We should do a thread about celebrities we have met or talked to sometime.
Some day I will tell you the story about how Katie Couric helped me and my father out at the airport when I won a Grand Prize trip on the internet...I will save it for later though. Mom needs my help right now...
Take care, Poppets!
I didn't get to watch the Brady Bunch! I'm sure I won't be able to see Michael and his Dad on the Partridge family either, since Antenna took the Partridges off on weekdays and it's only on Sunday! I'm sure I'll be working when it airs! :(
I didn't get to see the morning or afternoon football games either! :( She likes to watch golf! (yawn) !! I just got to see the end of the Giants win against the Cowboys when I got home! :)
Not to brag, but ALL my teams won ! Broncos on Thursday and today along with the Giants, Packers, Ravens and Eagles (my elderly Dad is so happy ,I'd love to see the Eagles win a Super bowl while my Dad is still alive) ) :) Sorry about the Bears and Jets , Nordy and Opus! :(
Nordy 09-11-2016, 08:23 PM Hi Bonnie Boo,

Well thank you Bonnie for remembering my birthday, that was kind of you and I appreciate it very much. :)
It's been a great weather day here in my southern Indiana town, bright and sunny and about 80 degrees, I couldn't ask for better birthday weather. Awesome day, picture perfect.

Thank you also for the B-day wishes.
LOL, we are back to the pulling the goalie debate. It is a good strategy only when down by one goal. Otherwise, the goalie should stay in the net. That's my coaching strategy.
Won't be long till hockey season starts again. Looking forward to it.
1960'sTVfan 09-12-2016, 04:41 PM Happy birthday Lee.

Yea it was a good day, can't complain.
Oakland A's are having a dismal season, but they won tonight by a big score 16 to 3. It was fun watching them cruise to an easy win, which is a rare occurence for them these days. 16 runs is the most they've scored in a game this season, and it happened on my birthday. Nice birthday present.

My 40th Birthday was on the 2nd and I was at Wrigley watching the Cubs and Jon Lester almost no hitter victory. Was the best birthday present in quite awhile. I'm hoping for a Christmas present I've been asking Santa for the past 33 years in October. :) :)

I've reached the age of double nickels, 55. But I look younger than my age, I look more like 40 not 55.
I don't think the Cubs have much to worry about, this is most likely their year. Of course there is always a chance they could lose in the playoffs. There is a lot of pressure on them to win and once the playoffs start anything can happen. Maybe they've learned from their experience in the playoffs last year.
I think the teams that would give the Cubs the most trouble are the Nationals and Dodgers in the NL, and the Red Sox and Blue Jays in the AL. Boston is especially dangerous. If the Cubs play Boston in the World Series, I could see Boston winning. Will just have to wait and see how the playoffs unfold.

Guys, our original One Day at a Time A-Z hasn't been closed!!
I'm trying to get it shut down (I'm no math expert, but as far as I know, 7243 replies is larger than 1000), but so far it won't die. It's like Jason in the Friday the 13th movies!!!

1960'sTVfan 09-13-2016, 11:10 PM Hi guys
Anybody up?
I'm up, but I'm not talking. LOL just kidding.
Since you are a Svengoolie fan, did you know:
The original Svengoolie was Jerry G. Bishop. He was Svengoolie from 1970 to 73 and the show was called Screaming Yellow Theater, named after a popcorn snack called Screaming Yellow Zonkers that was sold in grocery stores during that time.
Jerry G. Bishop's Svengoolie character was dressed to look like a 1960's hippie, he was quite funny and spoke with a vampire accent. Rich Koz, the current Svengoolie, does not speak with a vampire accent.
You Tube has some clips with Jerry G. Bishop as Svengoolie if anyone wants to check them out.
OK, that is your Svengoolie trivia for today.
Bonniegirl 09-13-2016, 11:15 PM Barbara and Julie were so cute as Elton John and Kiki Dee ! :) They looked like they were really having fun doing this duet!:D And Max  and pregnant Julie were adorable singing Love and marriage! :)

Yep that's him alright, he looks like Jerry Garcia from The Grateful Dead.
Some more trivia:
Screaming Yellow Theater aired on WFLD TV in Chicago. The show was cancelled in 1973 when WFLD was sold from Field Communications to Kaiser Broadcasting. Then in 1978, Field Communications bought back WFLD from Kaiser. In 1979, a new Svengoolie show began airing on WFLD, called Son Of Svengoolie, with Rich Koz as the new host. That series lasted until 1986 when WFLD was sold again and became part of the new Fox TV network. Svengoolie continues today and is seen on Me-TV in cities throughout the country.

That's my football team.
I'm "knowledgeable" about figure skating once every 4 years, during the winter Olympics.
I always liked Tara Lipinski, and Sarah Hughes is from near here.

Congratulations on your team, The Jets coming out on top tonight. Based on my location I think I am supposed to root for The Redskins but I really wouldn't know one team mate from another. All I know is they pre empted my favorite show Dancing With The Stars in my area for them last week...
Sarah Hughes winning the gold medal out of seemingly nowhere was a very exciting Olympic moment. If you run into her say Hi for me...
Tara Lipinski (along with her partner in crime Johnny Weir) really went on to make a life for herself in being a commentator where Michelle Kwan seems to have faded from public eye.
I wish they would air figure skating more in prime time, I loved the Ice Wars specials.

George put the game on when he got home from work. I didn't watch. I had 70's music on in the bedroom, finishing up my wine basking in the glow of ML Love after watching the movie, :) and dedicating Love songs to him 70's was a great era for love songs!;)

Oh, I know. The 80's too.
I love the group Bread, Carpenters, Dolly Parton, Diana Ross, Michael McDonald, Patti Austin, Patti LaBelle, Natalie Cole, Minnie Ripperton, Denice Williams, Olivia Newton John, Donna Summer, James Ingram so many more. Crystal Gayle I listen to quite a lot, she is so underrated.
Today's music I just can't get into very much...It doesn't move me...:(

How did I forget Lionel Richie in my list? And musical genius Stevie Wonder. "Overjoyed" may be my favorite love song ever. A masterpiece!
What song would you like Max to slow dance with you?...:happyface

One of the most beautiful songs from the 80's is Lionel Richie's "You're once, twice, three times a lady" :) OMG if Max sang that to me!!! SIGH!!!
A song from the 70's that is really pretty I heard yesterday that I dedicated to Max is "Love is in the air"! :)
Love is in the air everywhere I look around
Love is in the air every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes.
Love is in the air, in the whisper of the tree
Love is in the air in the thunder of the sea
And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel safe
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name

Yes, that is a cool song, Love is in the air, everywhere I look around...
If only we could all have that perfect romantic evening with our heart's desire.
Right now I could really use a nap. I am so tired and listless lately...I need to see a doctor...but for personal reasons I am much happier than I have been in months. My mom is doing so much better and I have such good pals here...:)
And on that note, take care my poppets. Until later...

Days Gone By (Auld Lang Syne)
When family cannot be here
Havin' journeyed far and wide
We sing a song to honor them
To remember days gone by
So take your cup and raise it high
Just as surely I'll do mine
And laugh we will at stories told
As we smile at days gone by
As we smile at days gone by
For family not here, my dears
Havin' journeyed far and wide
For loyalty and kindness both
We smile at days gone by
Our paths will cross again one day
In time to reunite
For family is always near
Even when the seas are wide
So take your cup and raise it high
Just as surely I'll do mine
And make a toast for family
And the tales of days gone by
For family not here, my dears
Havin' journeyed far and wide
For loyalty and kindness both
Take joy at days gone by
For loyalty and kindness both
We smile at days gone by
Just so you know: I did not write this but really like it.

Bonniegirl 09-17-2016, 12:37 AM This is a REALLY beautiful Male/female duet from the early 70's! :) This song will bring you to tears it's so beautiful! Even as a little girl hearing it on the radio would really get me all emotional! ;)
Stay awhile (I would SO LOVE to sing this with you know who)!!!:)
Into my room he creeps
Without making a sound
Into my dreams he peeps
With his hair all long and hanging down
How he makes me quiver
How he makes me smile
With all this love I have to give him
I guess I'm gonna stay with him awhile
She brushes the curls from my eyes
She drops her robe on the floor
And she reaches for the light on the bureau
And the darkness is her pillow once more
How she makes me quiver
How she makes me smile
With all this love I have to give her
I guess I'm gonna stay with her awhile
How it makes me quiver
How it makes me smile
With all this love I have to give you
Guess I'm gonna stay with you awhile

Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed" hit the charts in 1986. In 1980, rock group City Boy wrote and recorded a song titled "Speechless". The two songs are somewhat similar in places regarding melody.

1960'sTVfan 09-17-2016, 03:04 PM The Bells! They were kind of a one hit wonder group I guess!
I suppose it's accurate to say The Bells were a one hit wonder. They had three songs that hit the charts in 1971, but only one of them, "Stay Awhile", made it into the top 40, peaking at number 7.
September Every month is a great month for sports as is October every month. Or so I have read...

Lee, I have never heard of this song before but I find it very moving. When you care for somebody so much but the words get in the way as Gloria Estefan sang you DO become speechless! Or tongue tied! Sometimes you just can't find the right words so you say nothing at all so you don't risk rejection. Its a universal theme. :)
I can see where the melodies are similar in places. You have a wonderful taste in music and I appreciate you sharing that song with us...

I'm glad you enjoyed the song. I like songs that have an emphasis on melody. It doesn't matter what type of song it is, fast or slow, loud or soft, if the melody grabs my ear I will like it.
City Boy was a good band with many good songs, they released seven albums over a span of seven years, 1975 to 1981. But they never made it big commercially so they aren't very well known.
Here's another song, this is another one I've always liked. I'll give a little information first. It was a minor chart hit in early 1975 but I don't think it got played much on the radio. It falls under the category of euro-pop and has a 1960's feel to it, it doesn't really fit the 70's, so the song came along a few years too late. There is an all English version and also a version that's part English and part Italian, I'm posting the all English version.
Here is Italian crooner Al Martino singing the wonderfully melodic euro-pop ballad "To The Door Of The Sun":

On a Saturday afternoon you fight for your life, it was wall to wall people and enormously long lines. OY!
But the good thing is that everything in their decor is Fall, Fall, Fall! Pumpkin this, pumpkin that! I am going to put my feet up for awhile and drown my "sorrows" and wet my whistle with their pumpkin ice cream. In moderation of course!
