At this point, I don't care if there were a ninth unique FIFA World Cup champion. If you asked me to choose a previous winner to win in 2026 right now, it would be either England or Spain.

Brazil doesn't deserve to win another United-States-hosted FIFA World Cup after Rio de Janeiro put its Olympic opening and closing ceremonies in the wrong stadium a decade ago. Matter of fact, I hope none of the Portuguese-speaking national teams reach the final match.

They've put on a great show so far, Cape Verde almost pulling that upset last night was something. Senegal had a 2-0 lead at the 86 minute mark looking like the upset of the World Cup, Belgium came storming back scoring two goals in three minutes, eventually winning 3-2 Wednesday. The USA is going to have to deal with that Belgium crew on Monday, a team that cam pull off what they did against Senegal is dangerous. I hope USA can get to the next round.

No one ever said it would be easy. Some of those teams could be knocked out. There's less pressure as underdogs.

Argentina needed extra time to beat Cape Verde. How much does Messi have left in the tank? He might get worn out as the tournament continues.

It looks we are now slight favorites over Belgium. Folarin Balogun missing the match is a big loss. I think we win 2-1.

The United States opened as a -120 favorite to advance at BetMGM, with Belgium at -105. On the three-way line, the U.S. is +150, Belgium +170 and a draw has +240 odds.
