He was a fine actor and that is all people should care about. What he did on his own time is his business. Were these romps consentual? If so then who cares?

Sure it what his business, but when it was the downfall of the man, more like the murder of the man, than it becomes a criminal matter and in this case, a public matter. I believe that man to be guilty of the murder of Bob Crane. Also, this topic is abt a biography of a man who happened to be a philanderer. It is not to bash him. Big difference here. It is not a gossip thread.

I haven't seen the movie but I have seen all the reports on Bob Crane through the years. I was a Hogan's Heroes fan and I was shocked when Bob got killed and even more shocked when I heard about his secret life. He had an addiction and that addiction got him killed. It's to bad that he'll only be mainly remembered for the way he died but that's the way the world is.

I don't think I want to see it.
I have too much respect for his characterization of Col. Hogan, and I would rather remember him for that and not his personal life and troubles.

That movie made me sick. In several different ways, but nevertheless, my hatred for that pig John Carpenter grew. However true this movie is or not, that man was disgusting. Hanging on celebs so he could be famous by proxy. What a slug.

It would have been interesting to see what may have happened to Bob had he gotten some treatment, instead of getting killed. Maybe he could have even turned his career around and gotten off the dinner theater circuit.

I never saw the movie and really don't want to...Whether the allegations are true or not, that stuff was just so hidden back then. People didn't talk about those things openly back then...imagine what it would be like today.

I didn't see the movie, but followed the news reports and I also tend to believe that Crane's "friend" John Carpenter was guilty of the murder. Evidence found pointed to his direction, he was put on trial but was not convicted. Carpenter passed away in 1998, he always maintained he was innocent of the crime. Unfortunately, unless some definite new evidence surfaces, this case might remain offically unsolved.

I saw it and liked it alot. From what I understand its pretty acurate. Crane's kids from his first family were quite involved with it and helped out. Crane's son Scott from his second marriage however claimes its not accurate. Like it or not Crane pretty much used women as sex objects, but towards the end of his life he talked about changing his ways. Had he not been killed and if he would have changed is up for debate.

Also I think John Carpernter did kill Crane. True the evidence was mostly circumstancial but it all points in Carpenter's direction, and also back in 1978 there was no DNA and fancy forensics. Had there would, Carpenter might have been found guilty.

You know Bob Crane who played Hogan in Hogan's Heroes was murdered but his killer was never found. What do you think of that?

Question: You know Bob Crane who played Hogan in Hogan's Heroes was murdered but his killer was never found. What do you think of that?

What do I think?

I think that:
  • His killer WAS found
  • He was Crane’s companion in making sex tapes of the two of them having sex with a wide variety of women.
  • He killed Crane because Crane was trying to break off their relationship
  • The police and district attorney completely mishandled the evidence and the case.
  • The deal that he was likely offered was probably too long and that given his fragile mental state had they approached killer correctly early on he would have confessed.
  • The police and the district attorney continued to mishandle the case years later when they were able to bring it to trial which resulted in an acquittal/
  • The police and district attorney are correct in their assessment that they have solved the Bob Crane murder case, but that they were unable to prosecute it successfully.
  • That the killer died in 1998.

That’s what I think, querent.
