No,
Yes, it was a spinoff of a cop show on NBC in the 70s called "Police Story"-I think it ("Police Story") was like an anthology show-each episode had different characters and setings, like "The Twilight Zone" and George Kennedy stared in one episode.

No
Yes, never watched it, though, but I remember it was like a detective show, and it also aired on NBC, I think in the early 80s.

No

YES!! I used to LOVE this HILARIOUS show from the late 60/earl 70s, also on NBC. It was produced by Desi Arnez who also appeared on it occaionaly, as a spanish bullfighter, named Senior Ricardo Delgotto, or something like that.
It was basicely like "I Love Lucy" set in "modern" times, in the suburbs.

Yes, never watched it 'cause it always sounded stupid. But, I remember it was also on in the 80s (late) on ABC.

No

Yes, but I never watched it. I rememember, though, it was also on ABC, in the 90s.

Yes, I remember watching it. It was allright, not great. It was about a suburban family, I think in New Jersey, and some of the shows were written by Alan Alda (who grew up in New Jersey). That's about all I remember of it, exept that it was on CBS, in the mid-70s.

Bless This House (with Andrew Dice Clay)

The DiceMan rules!!!!----but not in sitcoms. His co-star was Cathy Moriarty who played Dan Aykroyd's wife in one of his movies.

The Blue Knight (with George Kennedy)

George Kennedy as a tough no-nonsense cop. He was a lot better in the "Naked Gun" movies!

The Five Mrs. Buchanans (with Beth Broderick & Eileen Heckart)

A blatant "Golden Girls" rip-off which went nowhere fast.

Hardcastle & Mc Cormick (with Brian Keith)

Some good stunt scenes but not much else. Watch "Family Affair" instead!

Heartland (with Brian Keith)

Never heard of it.

The Mother-in-laws (with Eve Arden & Kaye Ballard)

I've heard of it but don't remember watching it. I might be interested if the reruns start showing up somewhere.

The Royal Family (with Redd Fox & Della Reese)

Went nowhere after Redd Foxx died. While he was alive, he was responsible for one very funny moment that I still remember vividly. His fans all knew that Redd had an X-rated vocabulary at the best of times so what the writers cleverly did was insert the words "Mother Father" in the script whenever he felt like swearing (instead of you-know-what). In one scene, he's sitting in his favorite couch hoping to watch the fights when a TV announcer interrupts the show to say that it's being cancelled, after which Foxx lets out one of his "Mother Fathers". But he quickly perks up when he learns that "Sanford & Son" will come on instead! He then tells the audience how much he loves it when Sanford calls his son a big dummy! Of course, the audience are all in on the joke and react with a big laugh. A priceless, but, alas, rarely seen moment in all of sitcom history.

Some Of My Best Friends (with Jason Bateman)

Jason Bateman was good in this show. It had a great premise, the characters were very funny, and it should have lasted longer. Much better than "Arrested Development" which isn't long for the axe.

Soul Man (with Dan Akroyd & Anthony Clark)

Dan Aykroyd as a hip motorcycle riding priest. All that's missing is his "Blues Brothers" outfit! Believe it or not, this show can be seen again in Canada on an otherwise crappy station called Vision TV. It's on every Wednesday night at 8:00 pm.

We'll Get By (with Paul Sorvino)

Never seen it. I'd rather watch Mira Sorvino!!!

The only one I remember watching is Flo. What attracted me to it was the theme song (which, as I later discovered, was sung by none other than the late great Hoyt Axton and was on the country charts in 1981, only reaching the #78 position). However, I quickly got tired of it after listening to it over and over and over ... I haven't heard it since.

You can listen to the song by clicking on a link from this page.

Question Safe at Home?

I was wondering if anyone remembers this shortlived sitcom. It was based in Chicago. And was repeated for a short while on TBS in the wee hours. I haven't been able to find a thing on it, and I'm starting to wonder if it's a figment of my imagination!!!green

I might be too young to remember these shows. When did they come out?

Yes, most of them. Whether I remember watching them . . . ?

"The Mothers-in-law"
My favorite episode, and this is just a bare bones description, the one where for some reason, they were all running around New York City dressed in costume, and they all got hauled down to the local police station to expain, what they were doing dressed in costume

"Soul Man"
My favorite episode, again just a bare bones desciption, the one where Aykroyd was apparently visited by an angel.

Soul Man: A look behind the success and surprise cancellation of Home Improvement's sister show

Quote:
When Dan Aykroyd showed up on Home Improvement/Tool Time in 1997 as a preacher needing assistance, it wasn't a one-off occurrence. Aykroyd was about to star in Soul Man, a show about a widowed priest in Detroit raising his 4 children. Richard Karn and Zachary Ty Bryan would make guest appearances on the new sitcom.

Soul Man was an instant hit, with its debut episode coming in at #10 for the week, just behind the lead-off of Home Improvement at #9 and retaining almost all of its audience. Article clipped from The Los Angeles Times - Newspapers.com™

After airing just a few more episodes, ABC quickly changed Soul Man's time slot to face off against Mad About You, where ratings dipped somewhat. ABC changed Soul Man's time slot again to face off against cult favorite Newsradio (r/newsradio). Soul Man's ratings were a bit all over the place during this time period, but it still managed to finish in the top 30 many times. ABC shelves 'Top,' changes 'Soul' slot (variety.com)

ABC temporarily benched Soul Man in March of 1998, making producers of the show furious. They claimed the benching had more to do with network in-fighting than ratings. Soul Man would finish the 1997-1998 year ranking at #29. 'Soul Man' Producers Claim ABC Is Mishandling Show - Los Angeles Times (latimes.com)

Unfortunately, Soul Man never recovered and was cancelled before the 1998-1999 year despite decent ratings. Further information on the show on the net is a bit scarce, possibly due to most search results returning Aykroyd's other projects with the "Soul Man" moniker.

I've heard of most of them.

But the only ones I ever watched were The 5 Mrs. Buchanans (a couple times) and I hated it. And I watched The Royal Family a couple times and hated that too. But I liked Heartland. Besides Brian Keith it also starred his daughter Daisy Keith but on the show she played his granddaughter and not his daughter (I don't know why she wasn't his daughter on the show). Tragically a few years after the show was cancelled Daisy Keith would commit suicide, and then so did Brian Keith a few months later because he was obviously heartbroken over her death and he was also suffering from cancer which I've read was apparently terminal so sadly he decided to end his life. And I remember some of the other cast members. Richard Gilliland played Keith's son-in-law on the show (but I don't remember the character's name). Devin Ratray played Gus, Keith's grandson on the show, and brother to Daisy Keith's character. If I remember this was a year or two before Devin Ratray began playing Kevin's older brother in the Home Alone movies. And I also don't remember the actress who played Gilliland's wife and daughter to Keith's character or the character's name. Or the name of the actor who played the other son of Gilliland and his wife just that he was a redhead and I think his character's name was Johnny.
