After that, didn't Marilyn McCoo replace her (again)??

I don't know. I don't think I was watching it by that point, Cat.
I realized I had better taste in music or something.

"Solid Gold, filling up my life with music,
Solid Gold, putting rhythm in my soul.
There's a song that's unreelin',
That fits the way that I'm feelin',
My head keeps spinnin' to music,
Spinnin' to gold!
Solid gold!!"

(apologies for any errors, it's incredible/funny/scary how I recall that theme after not seeing the show for probably 25 years).

Here's the order--Dionne, Marilyn, then Marilyn with co hosts, andy gibb and rex smith, then Rick Dees (yes, him!), then back to Dionne, then back to Marilyn.

Thank you, Jude - didn't Jeff Altman also make occasional appearances??

The producers liked the chemistry between Marilyn and her first co-host Andy Gibb.

Getting back to The Midnight Special, when is this DVD supposed to come out? I'd love to watch it.

Reminds me of when we went to Vegas. Wayland and Madame were playing the Sands hotel. When my brother called for tickets, they said, "I'm sorry, but the show has been cancelled for tonight....Wayland AND Madame aren't feeling well". It struck my bro funny when she included Madame. It made him ask if she had termites!!!

I have seen some clips on bootleg DVDs and you tube. From what I can see, some of the shows were pretty eclectic in the way they mixed and matched musical guests and genres.
"The Best of The Midnight Special" was at least 52 weeks/episodes of ad supported hour-long compilations - they were not cut-downs, they were new compilations for syndication versions with a new announcer (NOT Wolfman Jack) Syndicated by 20th Century Fox Television in 1982-1983, unknown if it got a second season or not - there was MORE than enough material.
