Omg...so that really was the series finale. I saw it last night and had a sense it was and looked up the episode guide on Wikipedia, and sure enough that was the series finale. It was terrible. I don't know so many people trash Seinfeld's good series finale when Night Court's was so abominable. Dan's character in multiple unfocused direction? Harry staying in his job? (ooo, how exciting [not] ), Bull going to Jupiter?? WTF??

UGH. Definitely one of the worst series finales ever.

Worst series finale ever.

What was up with Christine and Harry? It sure took them long enough to become a couple. They only worked together, what 8 years? And all of that sexual tension between them. The writers missed a great opportunity to make them a couple and maybe even write in a baby.

That storyline with Dan was ********. Was that supposed to teach him a lesson?

Poor Roz got no closure at all and Harry staying in that hellhole? I thought he and Christine we're going to be a couple.

I'm sorry, all in all in was a terrible finale. I could never stand Christine. She seemed too prissy. I really don't care about her. I would've liked to have seen all the loose ends tied up. Pretty disappointing.

I agree, u2rules. Did you know that season 8 was originally going to be the last season, and at the end they were going to have Harry and Christine get married? They were going to wrap it all up and then the network gave them another season and they had to abandon that. It was a shame. I thought it was a bit weird too how they had Harry all awkward around Christine in the first episode of season 9. It was like they had to quickly dial back all the feelings & tension and make them just friends again.

I'm guessing that's what it was supposed to be. But it also made him realize he had feelings for Christine, the way she defended him in that dream (which I thought was weird, it seemed totally out of left field... and the way he suddenly told Harry he was following her to Washington DC at the end).

Believe me, I totally agree with you. I don't know what they were thinking when they wrote that finale. And Bull going off to Jupiter... he was married to Wanda at that point, whatever happened to her? She apparently didn't go with him so did someone have to tell her that Bull just suddenly disappeared with no rhyme or reason? Really odd.

Has anyone picked up the entire series on DVD? Seasons 4-9 are MOD, so a bit pricer, which is a shame....I'd love to pull the trigger on all of them at some point.

In addition, NBC was also undergoing regime change as well, as Warren Littlefield was replacing Brandon Tartikoff as president of NBC Entertainment.

Night Court: 10 Storylines That Were Left Unresolved When The Series Ended

Night Court was 80s sitcom about a courtroom. While the show had nine seasons, it got cancelled leaving many story lines to not be resolved.

In the final two seasons, the show became unwatchable. It just fell off a cliff in 1990, after reaching it's peak around 1988. It really should have ended in 1990.

How is a long-running (nine-season) show going to have an official series finale and STILL (intentionally or not) leave some storylines unresolved (especially some that are just starting up in its last year)? The last thing I want to do when writing a show's final season is create completely new storylines.

"Stay Safe"? More like "Stay Sad".
