I always think quarterback as his name is Utterback. He did act like some jocks.... cocky, power over girls, quick envy. lol. Was this nerd in sports? Most nerds are not into sports i.e. me. Maybe he was on steroids which has roid rage.

Idk, but he was a fair amount older than Denise was.

I always wondered why some evil cases were not put as regular segments but instead only got their 15 seconds. Like the young man who killed that blonde girl in missori and took off. She was pregnant. That's another "young man kills young girlfriend" violently that I wished was profiled more. Of course UM can't do every case, right?

But since Oliver Munson was still classified as a missing person, Watson was not wanted by any law enforcement agency.

I mention the above because for the last few days I've scoured everything trying to find something similar with regards to Utterback. I've found who I believe to be members of his family on Facebook. I randomly came across a profile of someone named "Randy Utterback" and their profile picture was Utterback's mugshot. That person had 1 friend, roughly the same age as Utterback, and also living within ten minutes of where Utterback's parents are believed to be still living in Centralia, MO (this person does not look anything like Utterback so I don't think it's him, but possibly someone he knew). So that leaves the following possibilities, IMO:

-Someone made a fake Utterback Facebook profile and for reasons unknown friend requested this person who may or may not have known the real Utterback.

-Someone made a fake Utterback profile and friend requested random people in Missouri and only one of them accepted the request.

-This person who may or may not have known Utterback created the fake profile and friended himself.

-This person is Utterback (or someone close to him) and they created this profile (back in 2013 IIRC it was easier to look at people's profiles that you were not friends with) to stalk or look at profiles on Facebook and friended this person because they legitimately know each other.

I don't know which of the above is most likely, but I do find it really, really weird that someone would make a "joke" Randall Utterback profile, keep the profile public and not post anything, and then have 1 friend who just so happens to be the same age and within 10 miles of where his parents live.
Related to this, I found Denise's profile on FB in about 10mins. Completely open and looks like it has been for over a decade. Either she isn't worried at all about Randall finding her or she knows he never will.

I didn’t find an entry for this case on Heather’s blog so I nominate it for future research. It’s pretty amazing all the he said/she said stuff, comments from supposed witnesses ranging from Randall being a nut to Denise being a cheating slut. The case is all over the place. I cannot figure out how Randall has been able to hide for so long. If Denise was that easy to find I wonder if she would be open to an interview. I’d love to see someone take another look at this case.

Anyone think that Randall Utterback may no longer be with us?

I have a feeling Randall is still alive. If nothing else some of the comments on this very thread seem to be aimed at making a case for Randall being the victim. It would have been interesting to hear his side of the story (which may not change anything at the end of the day), but we never heard his side because he ran. he doesn't seem to be in the minds of law enforcement and he may have merely changed his identity somehow.

Only Randall's niece is defending him seriously. This is what happens with abusers. Nothing is ever their fault. They have people completely fooled. It's easier to blame the woman who was almost half his age. I'm not saying there aren't crazy women out there, but why blame the victim????

my apologies, I'm only seeing this now that a couple of years passed by. I guess 2 years is like 2 minutes in UM Sitcoms online time.

But if you remember, can you elaborate on which case you are talking about?

Family being dragged into one person's mess, I get. It can be unavoidable. I also understand family loyalty. But loyalty can only go so far before you are CHOOSING to ignore reality.

Randall's parents issuing statements rejecting all acts of which their son was accused is not only eye opening but downright pathetic. And it gets worse. They have the audacity to accuse Denise and the entire police department of teaming up with each other to assassinate Randall's character. That level of delusion or willful ignorance is astounding. The multiple arrests for consistent stalking, the attempted murder, the kidnapping....was all done so this nobody (who never was) could have his image tarnished? Are you freaking kidding me?

All this tells me is that his family is as batsh*t nuts as he is. And it's probably a huge reason that Randall turned into the pathetic mess of a human he is. Sociopaths have that ability to ignore the 50,000 instances of proof and always make it someone else's fault. Did any of these loved ones ever take this 30-year-old man aside, smack him on the side of his head and ask him why he's going out with 17-year-old girl? I highly doubt it.

I agree. It's tough for a parent when your child does something wrong and you have to discipline them. But it is exceptionally difficult when your adult child is doing illegal and immoral things and you have to be the one to admonish them and point out that they are in the wrong. It might be hard sometimes, but it is the right thing to do.

when I read your post I thought of the Gabby Petito documentary that I watched on Netflix. It was very hard to watch. But the most frustrating part was how awful the murderer's parents behaved. and the guy's mom had a history of questionable behavior. and then unfortunately the police in gabby's case took the wrong person's side and it enabled the murder. I think Denise is extremely fortunate that she got away from Randall, thanks to her father and the police that did their jobs well. If not for that he may have lost complete control and murdered her.

Oh GOD...don't even get me started on Brian Laundrie's parents. How they haven't been arrested...it blows my mind.

This comment really led me down a new line of thought on this case.

When I first saw this one I found it odd he had been on the lam this long but figured he may have had help.

But after rewatching the segment and reading both this forum and others over again I'm now thinking that Randall was himself a victim of foul play.

UM makes a single brief statement on his alleged escape. It's significant that the last known whereabouts of him are in the hands of the authorities. Normally that would be a cause for suspicion, but in this case it is mostly ignored. Not only that, but there is zero detail given how he escaped from them. Just that he was being transported and escaped.

Now this I cannot be sure of, but there seem to be many references to Denise having some ties to LE on various forums. Perhaps that isn't the case, but if it is that should immediately raise suspicion in tandem with the aforementioned "escape." There have been other cases where a suspect was last seen in the hands of LE and following their disappearance all focus was on the LE officer and their account of what happened.

When rewatching the episode, I noticed something else. When describing the final encounter between the two Stack's narration states "In the struggle, Randall allegedly bit her hand and dropped his gun." Now I am sure standards and practices probably forced the wording here given that he was not convicted of any crime at the time of the broadcast, but it's still interesting how this is presented. There is no interview or statement from LE saying what they found for this claim either. However, this should have been forensic evidence.

So after this event, Randall is arrested, charged with several crimes, and then imprisoned without bond. Starting with the denial of bail, Randall was not charged with a capital crime, homicide, or any of the more serious crimes that are generally grounds for denying bail for flight risk or danger to the community. He was charged with felonious restraint, which is a lesser crime than kidnapping, and several counts of armed criminal action and stalking.

So we have someone who was imprisoned for six months without bail on what might be termed "lesser felony" charges. This would appear to be a much more severe treatment than many other criminals have gotten over the years on UM. I would even wager that it was on the edge of what the law even allows and if Randall had the use of a very good lawyer he likely would not have been in that long.

But there is something else significant here, namely the six month timing of his alleged escape. In Missouri, speedy trial laws require that a trial start within 180 days of when the defendant says they are ready. I cannot find anything about Randall or his representative communicating that they were ready to go to trail, but given the charges I could certainly see a possibility that they communicated readiness almost immediately after his imprisonment.

So at the point where Randall may well have been able to either force a trial or a dismissal on speedy trial grounds he disappears in the custody of LE. It's an interesting coincidence. Which brings us back to the incident as describe by Stack's narration. What if the evidence did not line up with the prosecution's case? I have to wonder a bit about the firearm that was allegedly involved, what if it wasn't Randall's? An issue like that could well have meant the trial would be a failure for the prosecution.

All of which is to say I'm really not sure what happened here, but I have doubts he is alive.
