The Hogan Family on DVD

Seeing Head of the Class get a DVD release from WB, gives me small hope that The Hogan Family can follow suit!

So far, I have restored the complete 1st - 4th season's episodes to their original broadcast length... each with original show titles 'Valerie,' 'Valerie's Family,' and 'The Hogan Family' and their network commercial break 'be right back' tags. I've also inserted as many original network promos as I've been able to find. The discs themselves have custom menus featuring various cast members from the show.

I'm currently working on restoring seasons 5 and 6. I'm missing a few elements to complete the set... like the season 6 intro without Antenna TV's dreaded squeeze back and the final episode, #110 - Ho, Ho, Hogans.

From 2007 - 2010, I had uploaded the complete series to my now defunct YouTube page, ClassicTVChazz. I've since started reuploading them to Dailymotion.

I'll keep everyone up-to-date on the DVD set. Would be happy to help others who are interested in the series - and would love help finding a few of the missing pieces I'm seeking.

It has been said elsewhere online that Warner Bros., who acquired Lorimar, the company that produced Valerie/The Hogan Family, doesn't want to reopen any "old wounds" stemming from Valerie Harper and Tony Caccioti's lawsuit. The contract included legal entitlement to any money from the show's presence in new media (most pre-DVD shows did not include future media in residuals). Keep in mind that Valerie Harper didn't just star in it; she and her husband were producers.

I'm assuming that upon Valerie's passing in 2019, Tony was entitled to her share of residuals. It's not completely clear, if it those residuals are just for broadcast and cable. But it seems obvious that Lorimar-Telepictures and/or Miller-Boyett were willing to get rid of her just to get rid of him. In a nutshell, when Warner Bros. bought Lorimar in 1993, they bought the legal results of all the drama that came with it.
