In my option, it is a kinda star-struck to know your favorite stars are more accessible these days due to social media, and many of very engaging with their fans....

...yeh, I've been hesitant to regularly follow Valerie on social media, too :( (Mind you all those pictures of the dishes she's been making on her cooking show look great. Hope she gets a 6th Season/Cycle)

So, guys, SAT testing is April 11th and we are practically testing all that week except for Monday and Friday which is Good Friday. And to top it off my English teacher has been showing us these EXTREMELY boring SAT prep videos and she's mad at us when we stop paying attention. :( SAT testing takes like all day, too, unless we finish early which I guess is unlikely since they are planning on us taking the entire school day that Tuesday to do it, plus additional testing that Wednesday and Thursday. Ugh. What a way to come back from Spring Break.

Always nice when shows-films-tv movies turn up.

Back in the VHS Video days, you never knew what might turn up and now all you have to do is search youtube and dailymotion and the fun begins.

Now myself, I like old network promos - because let's face it, who'd think of saving those in the post 16mm film era.

Michael's very first role ever even before Gidget was believe it or not that Clint Eastwood movie, "Hang em high"!! He had one small scene, and one line. He was a stock boy at a general store!! I had read that, and found it on YouTube. But I haven't yet gone through it to find him!!

Having been originally aired in the video/VCR era, fans most likely recorded them and they could be to be going around video collector circles even today, if you know where to look.

You'd be surprised what has turned up since 1975 (Betamax) and 1976 (VHS) For years before TNT re-aired them in the 1990's, the only copies of the LOGAN'S RUN tv series (1977) were ones recorded when they originally aired on CBS and in Canada!

Not everything is lost, and not everything is found.

It's been said an actor never forgets the first line he utters on stage or in front of the camera. Michael Lembeck, who for five years starred as Max Horvath on "One Day at a Time," is no exception.

"It was 1967, in 'Hang 'Em High,' " he recalls, "I play Marvin, the boy who works in the general store. I ask, 'Miss Rachel?' and she says, 'What is it, Marvin?' and I answer, 'Where would you like these blankets?' "

I'm not a trader or collector, so when I say "pop up", I mean in places like what we've been talking about here today, i.e either on some TV network or YouTube type site.

I'm more along the lines of what comes from collectors and not say a TV-Digital Network.

Well, if it's in the collector's network, sooner or later it'll "pop up" on YouTube,or DailyMotion,Vimeo.etc.

Where do you think so of stuff like Valerie's TV Movies or Mike's appearances have turned up from? :)

Most of what is on YouTube and Dailymotion, etc is due to the collectors, not just the average fan. An example, there's a channel on YouTube that is nothing but rarely seen THE ABC MOVIE OF THE WEEK movies - all from a fan.

This was the episode they HAD to do before the series ended. It was the last possible untapped story-line - what if one husband had the eyes for the other sister. Interesting it was the last "regular" episode to air.

The Move to Mondays - It did a 14.3 rating with a 23 share (#2 for the half-hour, #4 for the night.) against the first half hour of the Academy of Music Awards (18.5/30) and The Ernie Kovacs Biopix (13.3/22) This was a 30-40% improvement on Wednesday Nights ODAAT ratings (Which ran 10 to 13.5!) but was a little lower than "Kate & Allie" which averaged between 15-20 in the ratings.

(The Last episode the following week, "Off We Go" did 17 Rating/27 Share on par with what the show got on Sundays in the Fall-Winter, and was #2 for the half hour, and #3 for the night - People still loved the show in the end, and CBS can be forgiven for the Wednesday Counter-Programming Slot. It ran against the first half-hour of an ABC Mini-Series, "The Mystic Warrior",part 2 - 18.9/30 and The 2nd hour of an NBC Mini-Series of the first Olympics, part 2 11.8/19)

Agreed 100%

Let's face it, was there really any other teen-girl idols on the mid 1970's that mattered? Here we are in 2017 still talking about Valerie - It's nice she's still around and working - Wouldn't it be nice to have a meal she made? Her Cooking show is now in it's "5th Season" - hope she get's a 6th. Wonder when we'll see her in something scripted again - but she seems to enjoy making her cooking show. She's found her creative bliss it seems.

(I've got a funny Valerie story - currently she's going on about getting a pimple at age 56 on her Twitter account for goodness sake! Gotta love her!)

I think another thing we can say about Valerie is she never became a "has been" - There were years off with no projects here and there between the late 1990's to the mid 2000's and she was still able to get work (Touched by an Angel,a TV Movies here or there, her failed TBS Pilot,Guest Spots).

Yes, I know she was a mother by then. Her Two Book, The Divorce, the Weight issues (and then getting the Jenny Craig Gig), the dry spells without offers - But she survived and thrived. So can one say "Hot in Cleveland" in 2010 was a comeback,(After all she was a spokesperson for Jenny Craig at this point) or just a regular gig again?

That says something about the quality of Valerie as an actress where she could "pick up" the quality as an actress and her skill after years off. (Not to mention still able to get work) It's no secret she's a "natural" with both comedy and drama. Perhaps that is the answer?

Oh cool!!! Yeah it really was good!!!;) Wasn't the friend /airport security guy really funny! :D And the girl, (the parents house girl) was really creepy!!

And the lead guy, the boyfriend. Really good actor!!;) All of them were good. Great movie!!;)

Speaking of good actors. We found Michael's very first role ever in "Hang em high"! Opus found the exact mark where he comes on, if you would like to check it out !! ;) It's back a page ! Clint Eastwood BLAH!!! :p  Michael should have had a MUCH bigger role!!!

Everyone was excellent, and not to be cliche, but I really was on the edge of my seat, my arm I'm surprised isn't bruised from Baby T gripping it.
It lived up to its hype, that's for sure!

I didn't even realize that was him, I've seen the movie several times. I love Clint's westerns!:)

That's sad that it had to end!!!:( I think Max should have been in too!;) Not getting the commission for Schneider's trip, but just to be there for the last ep. Mark too! They could have come out from the kitchen after Schneider came in , just walking through, maybe on their way out to a ball game or something. Saying" Sorry to hear about your Brother" or something ! ;) It would have just taken an extra minute or so!;)

Anna please take a minute to check out my Baby's very first acting role in Hang em high as Marvin the stock boy!!! So cute!!! :) Too brief though!:(

"Off we go" was really sad. :( The end when Ann and Barbara were sitting on the window seat talking, and all the furniture in the apartment was gone. Than they flashed back to the scene of Barbara coming in on the first ep. bouncing the basketball saying "I made the team , I made the team" And Ann and the girls on the couch from the first ep. That always makes me cry! :(

IDK why they had to make Ann go to London? So far away! That's what made it SO SAD!!:( Why not she got a really good job in Chicago or somewhere else close!

A Universe where both shows exist...hmmm...(Could the Schneiders be related) It would be nice to see her on the show regardless. It just doesn't seem right she hasn't appeared yet. I'm sure her FOOD NETWORK shows keep her busy,

They rushed that final show without playing all of the beats.

Out of nowhere she gets this job offer to move to London and takes it right away with all of the people she is leaving behind especially her troubled daughter Julie and her aging mother? Leaves Francine high and dry and goes to London on the spur of the moment like that? The Ann of Grecian Yearn would never do that also the one who wouldn't live in paradise with Sam.

Also they found a way to trash MP through her character and left Julie looking like some poor pathetic loser. Not cool.

The acting was first rate but the ending was as contrived as the carnival Schneider ended up with.

The form letter Valerie used to send to fans:

I've seen it - do you really believe she at least read every letter as mentioned in her form reply?

There's NO WAY TV #1 teen-starlett, during down time during rehearsals and recordings could read all her fan mail! She must have gotten 1000's of letters a season.

Did she read some? I'd like to think "The fan mail department" put a few nicer ones aside each week so she could get an idea of what her fans were thinking about her, a cross-section of fans from across the country.

...and once the form letter, and perhaps a photo was sent, the fan mail found their way into the secure dumpsters at "Metromedia Square" once related comments in the fan mail were logged for viewer feedback reports.

(I'd ask Valerie on Twitter about this but I wouldn't want to embarrass her on how things were done back in the day.)

We do all agree Valerie was TV's #1 teen-starlet from the mid 1970's-Early 1980's,right? (and then one of TV's most popular young adult actresses into the 1980's)

Hi AC Gregorio.

Pancho Barnes would have been flattered to have Valerie Beautinelli play her for sure. She looked nothing like her but that's Hollyweird. A young Kathy Bates would have been much better casting. Val was way too thin and glamorous for the part. I would like to see her as an older woman take on Pancho's later years. I miss her as an actress.

Emmy winning television and film director Michael Lembeck may not have as many acting credits as she does but of all of the people that were on the show an argument could be made that he ended up being the most versatile one of the entire cast.

The Ron Howard/Rob Reiner of One Day At A Time. :)

Her biggest TV project till "Hot" would you say?

Yes. In terms of budget if nothing else. She played an older woman with a stripe in her hair. Judith Krantz was hot at the time and had a lot of miniseries on the air based on her romance novels.

When she was plugging that mini series she did an interview in US Magazine (I think!) where she said proudly, "I can do anything I want on TV!". :) :) :) I remember thinking how arrogant that sounded.

This was around 1987 I think.

I was thinking that of all the Normal Lear shows, ODAAT seems to get less respect.

Think about it - it's on the air/on demand/on-cable for a 2-3 years then disappears for a half a decade or more - this goes back to the late 1980's after the show started to "play out" and it's clearances started to drop.

Let's not even start with the DVD issue - what the heck with that? Only major Normal Lear show without a complete run. If there are music issues - edit or not include them -(Been done before) better than nothing.

Poor Val and Mac deserve their DVD residuals. (Not sure if they get anything for the show or if they took a "buy out" against tv residuals - 1970's AFTRA contracts allowed for that. Same time they abolished the "6 Runs and Out" rule from the 1960's)

Maybe it's time for an organized fan campaign to get Sony, or a licencee label (SHOUT! Factory perhaps) to put the show out in some form.

The fact Logo comes so close to AntennaTV's run is amazing. Sure one is broadcast and one is cable, but still - we finally get some respect - even if we only get a run or two out of it, it's on.

After Logo and AntennaTV, what will be the fate of the series - once again to rot on Sony's shelves, perhaps if we are lucky, put in Sony's Crackle internet channel.

How can a top 10 show of the 1970's be treated so badly - no other comedy of the era has had this type of piece-meal treatment - not any of Norman's others, not any of Garry Marshals shows,Not MASH (Which still does blockbuster in early evening shots on MeTV)

But it was true through 1997 - She WAS the queen of TV Movies (Followed in no particular order by Patty Duke, Melissa Gilbert, and Victoria Principle) and she dipped her toes back into two TV shows that didn't do well but didn't hurt her. She had her choice of projects and scripts. This is why those rough periods between 2004-2007 was hard.

Her Movies all did well ratings wise - she was bankable as TV Moves went. She had the choice of projects (Mostly at CBS) - it's those periods between 1997-2010 that Things start to change. 1998 and 1998 were the first two years since 1974 she was not on TV. (Wolfie would have been a pre-schooler so perhaps she took a break before "Personally Yours" and "Angel". She clearly was still a bankable actress being able to get those two projects, especially "Angel" A Top CBS Show)

I did some reading and found out she almost got a spin-off from her work on Rachael Ray's Show (2007-2009) in the mid 2000's, Then there's the unsold comedy pilot for TBS in 2007. But She was writing her books and doing the Jenny Craig thing...and then HOT came along and the rest is history.

Now she's got her cooking shows on FOOD and if we are so blessed, we might see her in something scripted in the future. Be nice to see her do some Drama again.

You know she did at least one TV Movie,and/or the odd theatrical film every year from 1979-1997 except for the seasons she did "Sydney" and "Cafe Americain" (Then she did several more from 2000-2009) That is impressive.

Your post reminds me of that famous saying, "It ain't bragging if you done it!"

No doubt she was quite a successful actress on TV back then and had a lot of popularity but I think you have to be humble and realize how lucky you are to even BE in that position.

If you read her interviews today it seems she has had her share of disappointments and comes across as far more down to earth than she did then.

At any rate she came a LONG way from that bit part on Apple's Way. :)

I don't expect the Logo running times to be any different than AntennaTV's. Is there speculating of more editing?

We're losing AntennaTV in the Summer when the station goes off the air ("Dark") It was sold back to the FCC for the broadband spectrum for $100 Million - and it's on the Fringe of the Boston/Manchester market! Space is limited in Boston so it's unlikely they'll find another affiliate.

When they start running the show, I can get a "beat" on how they are airing it. But any editing under 22 minutes,30 seconds was not done by Sony or Embassy when older longer shows were edited by the studios for more commercial time in the 1980's.

I really love both !;) But lately, maybe slightly leaning towards METV as my fav.? Seems a lot of shows that I really like are on ME ! ! They acquired Leave it to Beaver (that Antenna used to have) , Perry Mason, Diagnosis Murder and Mama's family! And of course CHIPS ( I was in LOVE with Erik Estrada before Antenna put on ODAAT and I fell in LOVE with Michael Lembeck! And The Brady Brunch, (can't watch the Brady's anymore though cause of work) :( ,I love Lucy and The Love Boat on Sundays! ;)

It seemed I was watching Antenna a lot more before! When ODAAT was on and they still had LITB! And I love the Joey Bishop show which is recently been added! But lately thinking about it more of the shows I like are on ME ! ;)

A thing that I like more about METV over Antenna is I think METV has more fun, cooler announcers and format!! ;)

I think METV overdoes the Westerns and Antenna overdoes the Norman Lear shows ( other than One day at a time, I could have that on all day if they were Max eps.) ! ;) :D

So which do I like better??? IDK???

OH WOW!!!! That is really cool!!! ;) I always thought their apartment was really cool , seemed very comfortable and homey!!:) As did that little house that the two couples rented in Season 9!! ;)

I was complaining about too many Norman Lear shows on Antenna TV in a previous post! But one thing I can say about Mr. Lear is his shows REALLY made the character's homes seem VERY MUCH like real homes, very welcoming and inviting !!! ;) :)

For one example, 'Barbara the Fink', which I just watched on YouTube and believe was recorded from AntennaTV out of Philadelphia, was 20:26 without opening or closing credits.

Was that the one that inexplicably "begins" with Barbara standing in a school hallway with a kimono on? Definitely something was cut there. :o

Did they ever use that cute alcove, except when plot dictated someone be near a window? Watching the show while growing up, I could imagine myself reading or doing homework at that cozy spot if I lived in that apartment.:)

In "Home again, home again" Just married, Julie and
Max SLEPT in a roll away bed in the alcove!!!!! ;) I'd say that alcove got PLENTY of use!!!!!! ;) :happyface    :eyes:  Than the next morning they took a shower together and he came out of the bathroom in the infamous pink towel around his waist!!! :happyface  One of my ALL TIME favorite eps.!!!;)

Julie sprained her ankle and was sitting back there not at the window seat but in a chair on the side of the alcove with her foot up!!(She probably was reading, as Opus mentioned) ! ;) I TOTALLY forget the season and what the ep was about, but it was of course an early season ep.! ;)

And in the next to the last ep. Ann and Barbara sat on the window seat in the alcove as I mentioned in an earlier post! ;)

That was another time/Another ep!!;) When they moved to Houston and got in a fight and Julie came back home!!! She was thinking he was cheating on her with the pretty flight attendants!!!! He was sleeping on a roll away bed and she was on the couch, than they made up and went into Barbara's room and made her give up her bed which she had offered to them earlier!;) :D That was the ep. Julie revealed she was pregnant!!! ;) ;)

C.H.O.M.P.S (Either cut - G or PG) is a fun little film and not any better or worse than the live action stuff from what was left of The Walt Disney Studios was putting out at the same time.

Although Val seems embarrassed 6 years later in 1985 talking about it when David Letterman brings it up. (Acting like he hadn't seen the film when we know he did!)

https://youtu.be/-Kl-OmE83N4

I wonder what she thinks about the film now,38 years later.

She disappeared after "Angel" and those "lost years" :( That was tragic.

...but then we got the years starting to get better -Working on Rachel Ray, The TBS pilot (Wish THAT would turn up!),guest spots, couple of TV Movies, Jenny Craig, Her Books and then her "Comeback" on "Hot in Cleveland" and now the cooking shows: her own and the kids competition one.

But would be nice to see her in something scripted again. (and I don't mean finally appearing on ODAAT) It's been close to two years - but she seems VERY happy with THE FOOD NETWORK.

This is in this weeks PEOPLE website...

Valerie Bertinelli Doesn’t Worry About Her Weight Fluctuating:
‘Food Is Love for Me’

With her own Food Network show and a cookbook under her belt, Valerie Bertinelli has carved a solid career for herself as a culinary expert—and it’s a title she fully embraces.

“Food is love for me,” Bertinelli tells PEOPLE during an event for Beringer wines. “Good or bad, bikini shot or not. I go up and down in my weight but I’m not going to worry about that because I share my love though food.”

“I’ll go through times where I indulge way too much and then times where I pull it back,” she continues. “It’s about listening to your body.”

This positive attitude toward eating didn’t come naturally for Bertinelli, who has been open about her past struggle with food addiction. “I used food as a crutch, and I abused food in a way that I shouldn’t have,” she told Dr. Oz in 2012. “It made me afraid of food for a while, too, but now I embrace it.”

Now releasing her second cookbook, Valerie’s Home Cooking, out in October, Bertinelli is showing her authentic self through dishes that are close to her heart. “I want you to feel like you’re in your kitchen with me cooking,” she says. “Every single recipe has a story with it.”

Sounds like she's doing great, and another cookbook sounds great!

I'll reveal what is going on because I don't really think anyone besides Torgo is really that interested in seeing this movie ! I don't mean that in a bad way or a resentful way it just is what it is!!! ;) :D

Anyway Torgo being a fan of this kind of a movie! And he hasn't seen it yet but wants to! He is away for a few days camping , so by the time he gets back and reads, this page will be a while back! ;)

So here goes:

SPOILER ALERT:

My very young HOT sweetheart Michael  in his Strawberry/ red and white attire, his character Johnny Delmonico is a SPIRIT, A GHOST!!! He was a rock star who died in a plane crash who appeared to these stranded people ! ;) Sad he was dead :( but he made the role very hauntingly beautiful,;) :eyes: even if he was only on for a few minutes!!! ;)

I hope if I ever see a ghost it's as hot as ML and wearing a strawberry tank top!:D

I know right? And it is really chilly and very WINDY here tonight! It's making the house creek, and doors slam! It's kind of cool as I'm fantasizing about my "Ghostly hotty"! ;)

And for real. All my life , I have seen and feel spirits around me a lot!! ;)

I see spirits a lot too, though a different kind. I spend far too much time at bars!:)

It's cold and windy here in MI as well. And I've been reading books about the Salem witch trials!

Another rare Valerie appearance found...

https://youtu.be/DE2uHwsCwfg

Storybook (Hollywood) Squares (Aired July 4, 1977)

Consitering 75% of these were erased and master tapes reused, this is something....

Since you linked it, I'll try to give it (re)watch tonight.

Now I remember why I hate that. THEY NEVER PICK HER!!

(If anyone wants a quick glimpse, go to 19:40.)

A Cross-posting Valerie related

SYDNEY was a mid-season show, and Mid-Season shows are tough to find an audience but at least all 13 aired. (Look how NBC handed CAFE AMERICAN timeslot moves, and a "burn off" of the last couple of episodes - but they did air all 18)

Makes you wonder if it was a hit if she would have gotten preggers?

Wolfgang was born a little under a year after the show went off the air. (March 16th,1991) The Show Ended June 25th,1990. So it's possible when the show was officially canceled she decided it was mommy time. The Dates works - 9 months from July 1990 to March 1991. Since it wouldn't have been on the "upfronts" for 1990-1991 and was canceled in May, this is more of a coincidence. :)

She can come on over and bring her cooking wine!!! :) We can have a couple glasses together , and gossip and giggle like woman do when they are together! ;) :D And than she could cook a meal with my assistance! ;)

Also I'd like her to bring her cats over with her. I love cats!!:) I think Val and I would get along really well! :)We are roughly the same age and she is down to earth and domestic like me , she doesn't act real snobby and celebrity like !!
