Okay, so, and I'm pretty sure we had this conversation about a year ago: we got an Amber Alert (that's recently been cancelled) around 9:43 this morning and the phones seriously like made a sound like those emergency alert systems you hear on the TV or radio. It was so freaky! Everybody was just like "What's going on?" Anyway, it's cancelled now, the kids are safe, and all is well thankfully.

Season 9 would be held for a year. Considering how strong the show was in syndication, the stations were thrilled to get additional episodes.

This ad is so funny but slightly misleading.

Ann's "WONDERFUL" guy in that episode is a CHEATING AND LYING piece of slime who used Ann as an excuse to get out of his marriage. She was such a doormat in that one and totally out of character to knowingly have an affair with a married man. Barbara was the voice of reason in that one. Julie no longer a part of "The Logs" seemed fine with her mom having an adulterous tryst. Schneider busted him though and that was when his nosiness for once really came in handy. :lol:

I thought he was good. A little grumpy at times, because he was dealing with that tall guy who wasn't really and actor and kept screwing up!!:lol: and that girl Riley who was "coaching him " was being annoying to the director! :D That was funny at the end when she said 'The director had a nervous breakdown"! :lol: So i am sure he was pretty much true to life, seems very dedicated and really knows his job, but in real life he deals with comedy and better actors, he's probably less grumpy and lighter hearted!:)

Well, they are losing affiliates - The FCC has this "buy-back" for stations to sell their bandwidth so the FCC can reassign the frequencies for wireless broadband. The Example I sited above is just one on many. It's not only Antenna, but MeTV,Heroes & Icons,etc that are going to lose stations. You can only fit so many channels on one spectrum,especially in HD.

AntennaTV is supposed to be bringing ODAT back in the fall to run off the remaining cycle or two they still have, They purchased the rights for 7 cycles- 7 runs per episode. But you know what we'll get - edited episodes and skipped shows due to past marathons. (As you may or may not know, they skipped episodes when they moved the show to Fridays for those last few weeks) Thank goodness for alternate sources!

Yes, the depressing commercials are still there. I only record THE TONIGHT SHOW then only odd episodes as they are rerunning the same 365 shows from last year again this year! 1000's of shows they can run unedited or edited to remove music and they run the same batch over again!

Yep!!! I know!!!;) Every woman I know too loves it, and it was SO recommended to me to see!!!;) I always wanted to, and just for whatever reason never did??? Today I just dropped in to say hi to a friend down the block and have a cup of coffee with her. She was saying she was going to watch The Notebook in a little bit, so I hung out and watched it with her, and I was SO GLAD I did!! ;) :) :heart:

Such a beautiful movie!! ;) :heart: Not only romantic, but parts were funny too! It just was really entertaining !!:) And a period piece, took place in the 40's!!! I LOVE that!!! That could also get tough. Shots of Valerie Bertinelli are easy to find, but clear solo shots of Barbara Cooper can get tricky. And as you alluded to, a lot more outfits (209 ODAAT's vs 98 Gilligan's)

So we went and saw Beauty And The Beast. And I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Everyone was really good in it, especially Emma Watson. The whole look of the film was very nicely done.

Oh, I'm well aware of that. My point was I think it's going to have future seasons past that, so there's no need to just shoehorn her in there. They can wait till the time is right if they want to :wave:

Looking over TV.com I noticed a listing for the show running repeats of Season 9 over the Summer of 1984 after it ended

May-August 1984----Mondays----9:00 p.m.
(Same time-slot the show ended in End of May,1984)
August-September 1984----Sundays----8:00 p.m

So we had reruns Early June to Early September,1984 before it left CBS completely.

Now with the shorter season, the show had more rerun gaps than before, most noticeably they fall January-April (Which by that time you have enough older season 9 shows to run, and perhaps throw in a season 8) You'll have a couple weeks of reruns and/or preemption here and there,usually no more than 3 weeks between new episodes but that is nothing new. But the show was never taken off the network, or handled badly by CBS as a show with a built in expiration date. (Sure, it wasn't MASH but CBS did treat it well)

Now the one that sticks out is the one in November-December - That A 3 weeks break 5 weeks into the season (and since CBS kept it on Sundays it wasn't a ratings issues) Even with the shorter season, this seems unusual.

I wonder, by November, and correct me if I am wrong, they had their final issues with Mac and she was let go. Allowing for the time window (and Holiday shooting break) they would have needed time to prepare "Dear Max" to air on 1/8/1984 which would explain a break of new episodes airing this early into the season without having to put the planned aired episodes for December. Following the November-December 3 week gap, They aired new episodes (with one rerun/preemption week) between 12/4/1983 (1 hour special) through 1/15/1984

Guess I'll have to check some old TV GUIDES to see what they did to fill those three weeks because they sure don't feel "planned".

10 episodes would have been rerun during the summer, plus the 3 rerun during the season - so 13 of the 22 reared on CBS and the rest didn't get a second run till the syndication package when added in The Fall,1985. This means that technically CBS "ate" it's rerun rights on 9 episodes.

I'm surprised at the block with one new episode, or any episode, over a 6 week period - They had the reruns to fill, but then as suggested, Movie preemption were not uncommon for Sunday this season.

I am under the believe if the show didn't have an expiration date, it would have stayed on Sunday, paired with "Alice" (25/17.0) and "The Jefferson's" (19/18.6) who both were averaging 17-19 in the ratings. This was the season CBS started to have problems with Sunday. "Alice" and "The Jefferson's" dropped and ended the following year. Was "One Day at a Time" the show that held Sunday Together after "Archie Bunker" was canceled? Did Val and Bonnie kill Sunday Night for CBS or had these shows just aged themselves out - They built-in ODAAT's end, and then canceled "Alice" and "Jefferson's" to clean house a year later. Both had to continue to deal with the preemptions ODAAT did the season before and there drops were quicker than ODAAT were.

As for ODAAT, The ratings only dropped AFTER the several week January break and the move to Wednesday. The move to Wednesday was clearly to put it on a night without preemptions, to counter-program "Real People" and "Fall Guy" and lead into a new Sitcom that had sat on the shelf for 18 months! (MAMA MALONE!)

But before hand you had 3 weeks without an episode, then one show,then two weeks without then a new night? Yes, this affected the whole Sunday night, which would be a problem that would follow them this season and the next. As it was, CBS made several changes to Sunday over the season., and ODAAT was a causality.

But We have to remember, CBS planned to use the last season completely - using it to strengthen a night if needed (The Wednesday attempt) - Nothing was unaired,and it had a healthy summer rerun. They agreed and paid EMBASSY for 22 shows,aired 22 However, I put forward CBS Never intended to keep it on Sunday for the full season to make room for new shows eventually. I would be naive to think CBS didn't hope the last year of ODAAT would have been like MASH and deliver the same numbers as the previous season. What we see here is CBS' plans A & B for the show - Keep on Sunday then move to new nights to play off run.

Well, at least we know ODAAT was doing killer in Syndication, where it did so for years with the added Season 8 and 9 shows extending the package.

...and these ratings/share prove that the #47 for the season is lop-sided.

(PS: what is sad is those later ratings - the cast would have finished shooting the series by then and those are some good episodes)

I do and I don't !!! If I didn't love Max I wouldn't think as much of Season 9 as I do! ;) But also I like the focus on the married couples living in that adorable house, and than minus Julie. That was sad how that came to be,:( but very glad they kept my Max!:) Being that he was at his hottest in that season! Other than that, and if he wasn't in the ep. season 9 basically stunk!:p Like the couple of eps that focused on Ann and Sam ! :rolleyes:

Your lady shined in Woman of The House and I loved how she and her grandma worked things out and had extended scenes alone together. I thought that was a really well written episode showing both sides of Barbara's desire to be in charge of her own home for once and lonely, wanting to be needed Grandma.

Also the Funny Boys stunk like a rotting fish but Barbara's victorious cast off moment was the best part of the show.

Gosh, I hated Mark in that one, he was such a big schvantz/bad husband. Your family should ALWAYS come first, not your friends especially those kinds of friends! They had a baby in the house but he didn't care that his pranking friends caused all of that trouble to everybody and Baby Annie and Grandma could have possibly been hurt. Max did threaten to move out and at least he stood up for himself a little bit. But Mark acted very selfishly like he did quite a lot on that show.

Another Season 9 that stunk was one that focused on Anne & Francine!! I don't even know the title of it.:rolleyes: :confused:

Don't remember the title but I agree, despite my Francination it was a snooze fest with Sam expanding the office that had only 2 employees that we know of working in it.

He was in a restaurant with other people , his date was a blonde! :) (I liked that , he likes us blondes) ;) :love: !!! I was trying to find him in other scenes but not having any luck! :(
