I was a little put off by it at first but now I don't care. The best of their channels is TV Land and that isn't saying much. I have about 24 episodes of Hot in Cleveland on my DVR that I haven't watched so I'm set through next season. :lol:

Mike's mom is a hoot. She should be nominated foe an emmy. Everytime she's on tv she cracks me up. I can understand why some didn't like expanding the cast for TBBT. The cast was pretty perfect. I think the show is in a grove right now. :lol: I can't wait for the new season. :cool:

That's why I used to like them. I used to make scrapbooks of articles from it and other papers back in the 80's. I still have a few of those. I quit doing it in the 90's when the quality of tv went down. :lol: That's why I argue with the younger set about the demos being important. It was never the most important rating that it is today. Ratings from back then didn't even list the demo in the papers. I think the demo has killed tv because it seems like all they care about is all that reality crap. :lol:

It's mainly about the new characters, which took a while to grow on me, although Bobby has a much bigger role than JR and Sue Ellen. The biggest problem I had was when they brought back Ray and Lucy for 2 episodes and they only had one or two lines, but they at least brought back Lucy one more time and gave her something to do. :lol:

I have great self control. :lol: The only thing I've seen is the opening credits. :lol: Well I'm glad you like it. I was starting to get concerned after reading some of the comments. Ratings have started to go down too. The show's been renewed for 15 more episodes so at least we don't have to worry about that until next year. :eek: I think the reason JR's been absent a lot lately is because Larry Hagman had to go for a followup for his cancer treatment. The new characters really have to carry the show. Larry isn't healthy enough to do what he did in the original show. That's another thing they're mad about...they want to know what Lucy and Ray have been up to the last 20 years and nobody will tell them. :lol:

Yea they have a whole separate board over there dedicated to the TNT Dallas now so it's easier to go through. :lol:

Thirty-seven years later, there are still memories of Agnes.


Memories of mud, stink, devastation, loss and struggle.

Hurricane Agnes – downgraded to a tropical storm – stalled over New York and Pennsylvania from June 21 through June 24, 1972, combined with other storm systems, and dumped between 10 and 18 inches of rain over the area, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The storm and hard rains elevated the Susquehanna River to a height of nearly 41 feet – 4 feet above the levees at the time.

And on June 23 – after the valiant efforts of thousands sandbagging on the dikes – the water came over and through the protective levees, flooding homes and businesses with water that stretched miles across the Wyoming Valley. What happened was the worst flooding of the Susquehanna River Basin on record.

Tuesday will mark the 37th anniversary of the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Agnes.

In Pennsylvania, an estimated $2.8 billion in damage was incurred – translating to about $14 billion in today’s dollars. Considering the magnitude of the disaster, relatively few lives were lost. However, in Luzerne County, more than 25,000 homes and businesses were either damaged or destroyed, and the devastation was estimated to be $1 billion. In Pennsylvania, more than 68,000 homes and 3,000 businesses were destroyed, leaving more than 220,000 people homeless.

President Richard M. Nixon, who visited the Wyoming Valley and toured the devastation with U.S. Rep. Daniel Flood and presidential aide Frank Carlucci (an area native and graduate of Wyoming Seminary), declared Pennsylvania a disaster area.

In Forty Fort, an entire section of the historic cemetery was washed away and about 2,000 caskets were uprooted from their graves, leaving body parts on back porches, roofs and basement floors. Towns were left with massive cleanup projects. Some homes were lifted from their foundations and carried miles downstream.

Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, the Wyoming Valley attempted to repair the damage from Agnes and prevent another disaster by raising the existing levee system to protect from floods as high as 41 feet. Since 1972, there has been high water in 1975, 1996, 2004 and 2006, though none as high as 1972. (The likelihood of Agnes happening again is once every 400 years.) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers praised the quality of the levees after they were raised in 2002.

U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski, who advocated for the levee-raising project in his first term in Congress in 1986, is pleased with the end result.

“It is enormously gratifying to witness the completion of the Wyoming Valley Levee Raising Project and the River Common after many years of hard work from a lot of people,” Kanjorski, D-Nanticoke, said. “Not only will the levee secure Agnes-level flood protection for the Wyoming Valley, but the beautiful new River Common is a first-class attraction for greater Wilkes-Barre. We have turned the river from a threat into an asset by using this project to enhance flood protection, develop the riverfront, and boost our local economy.”

A threat to an asset, the congressman said. And many people have embraced the river and the River Common project, but most say they will never forget what happened in June 1972 – the memories will haunt them forever.

Diane English lived on Tioga Avenue in Kingston when Agnes hit. She lived with her parents then and lives in the same house today with her husband, Gene.

“I remember it raining every day – it never stopped,” English said. “Our basement was filling up with water a couple days before the flood and my father was bailing it out. We thought everything would be OK.”

But everything wouldn’t be OK. At 5 a.m. on June 23, English and her parents were rousted from their sleep and told to evacuate their home. They stuffed what they could into plastic garbage bags – mostly clothing – and left. English, her parents – Cyril and Helen Bogdon – and her sister, Marianne, went to Plymouth to stay with family members out of the floodplain.

“It was very upsetting,” she said. “We tried to think of what we should take with us; we didn’t take enough. A lot of things were lost, like family pictures.”

On their way to Plymouth they had to take a detour because U.S. Route 11 was closed. English and her mother got lost and ended up in Jackson Township. They made it to Plymouth and waited until they could return to Tioga Avenue.

“We couldn’t believe what we saw,” she said. “We had 3 feet of water on our second floor. Everything was a mess – ruined.”

English said the house next door caved in and had to be replaced. She said her father was determined to repair their home.

“It took such an emotional toll on us, especially my parents,” English said. Her father suffered a heart attack while repairing the flood-damaged home. English lost her job because she couldn’t get to work.

“There was mud everywhere and the smell was terrible,” she said. “Our ceilings fell down – it looked like a different place, not home – not our neighborhood. The whole street looked so different with piles and piles of debris everywhere. And then everyone got a trailer; it really looked strange.”

But the family stayed and English and her husband live in the home today.

“It’s our home,” she said. “Many people left and never came back, but this is where I grew up and wanted to live.”

Diane and Gene weren’t married yet in 1972, but Gene has his memories of June 23. He was helping stack sandbags on the levee near the Forty Fort Cemetery.

“It was mass confusion,” he said. “I wasn’t there too long because the water started coming over the dike. I ran to my car and got out of there.”

English said when he went to look at the flooding, he couldn’t believe what he saw.

“Caskets were floating all around,” he said. “It was an eerie sight.”

Diane English still worries when the river starts to rise, despite the higher levees.

“It’s a fear that will never leave me,” she said. “It could happen again.”

English said her parents weren’t the same after the flood. She said they began to experience physical problems and their health seemed to gradually decline – her dad died in 1978 and her mom in 1981. Both were 66 when they died.

John O’Rourke, 71, was helping out on the levee in Kingston in June 1972. He said he could tell the levees weren’t going to hold. There weren’t enough sandbags to contain the river.

“I could see what was going to happen, so I left to check on my family on South Thomas Street,” O’Rourke said. “I took everyone to my son’s house in Laurel Run – out of the floodplain. Once I had them safe, I went back to help on the dike.”

The situation was getting worse, he said.

“When the water kept splashing on my boots, I knew we couldn’t stop it,” he said. “I remember being terrified; I could see what was about to happen.”

Once the valley was inundated, the water level at O’Rourke’s house reached 22 feet.

“It was over the roof,” he said. “I had nothing left. All our pictures and family movies were gone; all we had left were memories.”

O’Rourke said there were a lot of sightseers at the river. He said none of them ever anticipated what was going to happen. O’Rourke didn’t heed the pleas of the fire department officials who cruised neighborhoods and urged residents to leave their homes before the flood.

“We didn’t listen,” he said. “Not many did.”

When O’Rourke returned to his flood-damaged home, he remembers his refrigerator being turned upside down.

“When I opened the door, a dozen eggs were in there and none were broken,” he said. “So much damage everywhere, yet those eggs made it through.”

Jean Bonning Truchon operated Bonning’s Flower Shop on West Main Street in Plymouth and on June 23, 1972, she remembers her plants and flowers received way too much watering.

“I remember sitting on my neighbor’s porch not realizing the water was coming,” she said. “We didn’t want to leave; in fact, we were taken out in a row boat. I remember putting my cat in a pillowcase and I put all of our important papers in a box and got in the boat.”

When Truchon and her husband, John, returned to their business, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

“We were stunned,” she said. “We never realized how bad it was going to get. We got busy and started cleaning up.”

Truchon said there was never any hesitation on her part or her husband’s in deciding to keep the business and their home at the same location.

“We stayed there until 2003,” she said.

Truchon’s niece, June Bonning, remembered the help given to the Wyoming Valley by the Amish and Mennonite volunteers who traveled here to help.

“We had 19 1/2 feet of water in our place on Dagobert Street in Wilkes-Barre,” Bonning said. “It was halfway up the second floor wall. We had just remodeled the entire house. When we came back, everything was gone.”

Bonning said she saved a mirror from a bureau in her bedroom – a mirror she still has in her home.

“I should put a sign on it: Be steadfast,” she said. “All we wanted was to be the same as we were before; but that was impossible.”

Mary Fember was living in Luzerne. She was pregnant and terrified.

“My husband wouldn’t wake up when we were being told to evacuate,” she said. “He kept saying to let him sleep because he had work the next day.”

Meanwhile, water was rising in their basement and Fember was worried because, “I didn’t know how to swim.” She finally woke her husband and they went to his parents’ home in Luzerne.

Dolly Yunkunis, her husband and three children moved to Kingston in 1966. They bought a home on West Union Street. She asked her insurance agent about flood insurance.

“He told me there was no such thing,” Yunkunis said. “We wanted flood insurance because we went through a flood in Port Jervis, N.Y., in 1955 when the Delaware River overflowed.”

Yunkunis said the water from Agnes reached 6 feet on her first floor – enough to buckle floors and walls. Among the things she lost were an antique dining room set and a piano her son, a music major in college, played all the time.

“We never thought of selling the house,” she said. “But we have flood insurance now.”

Yunkunis thinks about 1972 often and worries there will be another flood.

“I worry about it all the time,” she said.

Yunkunis has spent many years volunteering at local hospitals and senior citizen centers. She volunteered at the River Common over the weekend selling T-shirts for a charity.

“The flood of 1972 was devastating at the time,” she said. “But we got through it.”

In Wilkes-Barre, Jim O’Day, his wife and eight children were living on Hickory Street. They were evacuated at 2 a.m. on the day of the flood.

“There was so much confusion,” O’Day said.

After the waters receded, O’Day said the place they were renting was repaired and they moved back in.

“Where were we going to go with eight kids?” he said. “A trailer would be way too small.”

O’Day said he can still see the piles of debris – piles of people’s lives and their memories and their heritage.

“There was so much stuff piled up and covered in mud,” he said. “Everybody lost things that could never be replaced.”

O’Day said he feels the area is more protected today.

“But no matter how high those dikes are, there’s always a chance the water could come over the top,” he said. “In a way, I’ve tried to forget the flood, but I can’t. It’s always there. And when I see floods in other parts of the world, I can feel a real sadness for the people, because I know what they are going through.”

I can't believe I forgot the anniversary. 40 years ago last month on my 7th birthday, I woke up. We were visiting my Grandma, She lived on top of a hill in Wilkes Barre PA. I came downstairs expecting to have an exciting day. That's when I learned that the whole valley had been flooded. Many of my relatives gathered at my Grandma's house since her house wasn't flooded. It was a birthday that I never forgot. We had been looking at houses to buy in Wilkes Barre a few days before and actually found one . I was looking forward to it because we'd be living where most of my Mom's family lived. unfortunately that house was flooded and we never did move there. Instead that fall my Mom and I lived in our trailer in the country a few miles away. My Dad was going to Okinawa for a year. The following year, when he got back, we moved to NC. I often wonder what would have happened if that flood had never occurred.

I'm starting to get concerned after last Wednesday's episode. I won't spoil anything but when you watch episode 9, you'll know what I mean. :lol: Maybe it was just a bad episode. Hopefully next week's season finale will be good although the previews didn't look good. That's the one thing I worried about when they announced the new Dallas... Larry's health. He's been through a lot. It looks like he's going to be ok, so that's good. :)

I can't believe I forgot the anniversary. 40 years ago last month on my 7th birthday, I woke up. We were visiting my Grandma, She lived on top of a hill in Wilkes Barre PA. I came downstairs expecting to have an exciting day. That's when I learned that the whole valley had been flooded. Many of my relatives gathered at my Grandma's house since her house wasn't flooded. It was a birthday that I never forgot. We had been looking at houses to buy in Wilkes Barre a few days before and actually found one . I was looking forward to it because we'd be living where most of my Mom's family lived. unfortunately that house was flooded and we never did move there. Instead that fall my Mom and I lived in our trailer in the country a few miles away. My Dad was going to Okinawa for a year. The following year, when he got back, we moved to NC. I often wonder what would have happened if that flood had never occurred.

The article says 37 years ago but it's an old article. lol It's funny how you can find anything on the internet.

That's awful. :( I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like to live through that. Reading the article, it's a miracle that not many lives were lost. I'm sure it took it's toll mentally and physically though on many people such as Diane's parents. So sad. :(

Yea it was awful.. :( I guess I was lucky. I didn't understand all that was going on and we were safe from the damage. All I remember from that day was relatives ( some of whom I barely knew) staying at my Grandma's place because their homes were under water. It was one birthday I never forgot.

I'm starting to get concerned after last Wednesday's episode. I won't spoil anything but when you watch episode 9, you'll know what I mean. :lol: Maybe it was just a bad episode. Hopefully next week's season finale will be good although the previews didn't look good. That's the one thing I worried about when they announced the new Dallas... Larry's health. He's been through a lot. It looks like he's going to be ok, so that's good. :)

I can't believe I lasted this long with watching. :lol: Well hopefully Larry's alright and he can contribute more next year. At this point why not? They've seemed to have thrown logic out the window. :lol: The cliffhanger was interesting, but at the same time didn't make much sense. I think the biggest problem with the new show is everything is happening so fast. Of course with 10 episodes things can't be drawn out like in the old series, but it's still a roller coaster. :lol:

Yeah, the old JR is back. He's still the highlight of the show even if he doesn't appear as much. He's had some great lines. :lol:

I don't know about you, Sonny, but Larry Hagmans death kinda freaked me out. Last night I finished watching an episode of the Incredible Hulk and decided to watch an episode of Dallas afterwards since I never had the pleasure of watching both shows together on a Friday when they originally aired. :lol: Whenever I watch my tv dvds it's usually in order and sometimes I take a break so the episode I watched was the one where they find out that Jock is dead. :eek: And to top it all off, I had this weird dream that JR and Bobby were arguing and I was in the background watching. Weird. :eek: I must have been the last person to know Larry passed away because I didn't find out until this afternoon.

Yeah it said he was uncredited so it must have been brief. I'll have to look for him the next time I watch it. :lol: It's too bad. He definitely had the presence and the ability to be a lead in a show or a movie. I think most or all of the episodes of Wanted are available on youtube. :cool: I bought the complete series at amazon a few years ago for around $10 and it took me until this year to actually sit down and watch all the episodes. :lol: I've never been a fan of tv westerns, but McQueen is my favorite actor so I had to get it and I was surprised at how good it is. I also like that he uses a sawed off shotgun as a weapon. :lol:

I do know that my 3rd grade teacher died. I mentioned this in Random a few years ago. The whole school was closed the day of her funeral. She was a good teacher too. A real tragedy. :(

On the discussion of classmates/teachers who have died...

- I never ACTUALLY had him as a teacher, but I had him a few times as a sub teacher during the 3 years he was in retirement... He retired in the spring of 1999 (when I finished eighth grade) and then was diagnosed with kidney cancer right around the time of 9/11. It was fast-moving and he succumbed to it in April of 2002 (towards end of my junior year in HS).

- There was a guy who had retired from teaching in 1988... but he pretty much made another career out of sub teaching for 20+ years afterwards. I had him a whole bunch of times in junior high/high school... I know he died maybe a couple years back, he was fairly up there in age at the time I was graduating (and that was 10 years ago now!). -- out of curiosity, I googled, and I now remember that he actually died last year, at 84. So, a guy who lived a pretty long and fulfilling life enjoying what he did. :)

- My eighth grade history teacher died of a heart attack when he was driving to school one day in the middle of the 2006-2007 school year (my last year of college). March 2007, if memory serves. They had to find a sub and have that sub finish out the last quarter of the school year in his stead. :(

- Just very recently (March, so three months ago), my second grade teacher died. If memory serves, she had mast cell lymphoma... She decided to retire when she was 55 so she retired fairly young (this was 16 years ago). So she was 70 at the time of her death... Still had at least a couple years to sub-teach if she wanted to (if her health hadn't intervened), to just enjoy retirement in general. I wanted to go to her funeral but that was the weekend the whole state got a bad storm so I couldn't make it. :(

I think at least 5 classmates have died. One was while we were still in school (happened the summer between our sophomore and junior years so this was right before 9/11). One died when I was still in college (late 2006 I think it was). One died in late 2009. I'll have to take a look at my senior year yearbook and see if I can think of anyone else.

My 10 year reunion is scheduled for the weekend before my birthday in August... I haven't decided if I'm going yet. :lol:

It was headline news across the state for a while because of the fact she was a HOH teacher teaching at a deaf school. And I'd seen/spoken to her in person with my own two eyes 12 hours before she met her horrible fate. I had such a tough time with that one for a long time. Luckily justice in that town is swift... Her murderer had his sentencing hearing less than a year after he murdered her and has now been in jail for 4 years.

That's awful. :( My gym teacher in Kindergarten and 1st grade passed away right before I entered 2nd grade. He was in his mid to late 60's. I never knew his first name, we always knew him as Mr. Marks. He was pretty tough and he looked like he was about 7 feet tall back then.

I still remember my 1st grade teacher Mrs. Howe. She was around for maybe a few weeks or a month and then we had this substitute teacher for most of the year. All I really knew was that she was sick and had this cast on her arm. I later found out that she had cancer. She survived and lived another 10-12 years before the cancer returned. :(

There was a kid who had a heart problem when I was in school too... Forgot what exactly it was, but it was genetic and I guess a very rare type? I think basically he had a hole in his heart (not like John Ritter though). If I remember right, he had to go in for open-heart surgery every year or so. He couldn't play sports because of this defect. He was two grades ahead of me and EVERYBODY who knew him, loved him... Great kid, stayed out of trouble. Myself, I didn't know him at all. He was a senior when I was a sophomore... February of my sophomore year, he had to leave school for another one of his surgeries and was expecting to be back to school in time for graduation. I guess he had some complications with that surgery and never recovered from it. Died May 1, 2001... Graduation was going to be three weeks later. The whole school was in disbelief when that happened. :(

The river drowning... OMG I would be freaked too!! I don't blame you at all. To have that happen pretty much literally in your backyard... :eek: This makes me think so much of my murdered teacher. When I realized I'd just spoken to her 12 hours earlier, that freaked the hell out of me. There was a kid who had a heart problem when I was in school too... Forgot what exactly it was, but it was genetic and I guess a very rare type? I think basically he had a hole in his heart (not like John Ritter though). If I remember right, he had to go in for open-heart surgery every year or so. He couldn't play sports because of this defect. He was two grades ahead of me and EVERYBODY who knew him, loved him... Great kid, stayed out of trouble. Myself, I didn't know him at all. He was a senior when I was a sophomore... February of my sophomore year, he had to leave school for another one of his surgeries and was expecting to be back to school in time for graduation. I guess he had some complications with that surgery and never recovered from it. Died May 1, 2001... Graduation was going to be three weeks later. The whole school was in disbelief when that happened. :(

No death penalty in ND/MN either, which really complicated matters when Dru Sjodin was murdered back in 2003. She was living/attending university in Grand Forks (a border town on the ND side), and her body was found outside of Crookston, MN about 5 months later. When that discovery was made, it then became an inter-state homicide case, requiring the feds to become involved. :( Her murderer was finally sentenced to death but is still wallowing around in jail. Ew. (similar deal with the Sherry Arnold case - she was abducted from Sidney, MT and her body was found in Williston... MT has the death penalty, again complicating things for the feds!)

If our taxpayer money is being used to keep murderers and rapists (of any kind) behind bars, I say we as citizens should decide how scum like them should die!! :D Vigilante justice, yeah! :lol:

The biggest shocker to me was seeing Meredith Baxter in an episode playing against type as a thief who attempts to get revenge after Mike Stone shoots her husband. :eek: On the other set there was an episode with Jim Davis and he beat the crap out of his son who was accused of murdering another son. :lol:

The one with Jim Davis is on Season 2 Volume 2. The other episodes are all on the Season 4 Volume 1 set. I hate the way they release them in volumes and they're not cheap so I got them from a trade in program. I still need 3 more volumes before I'm finished. I don't think I'll bother with Season 5 since Michael Douglas was no longer on the show. :lol:

Thanks Allison. :) That hospital was awful. My Dad has to watch what he eats. They were feeding him everything. When he was released his legs were fat.They fill up with water. They do that when he doesn't eat right and they were thin when he went there....Mainly because he hadn't eating solid food in a week. Shannon told me last week that she and Amy met a lady up in Johnson City at a Walmart. They were shopping for some clothes for my Dad to come home in. She told them to transfer him to another hospital as soon as they could or they'd kill him. I guess she had been a patient in that hospital and they almost killed her. I can believe it. There were other things that were going on up there that makes you syh. I don't think they knew what they were doing. :ohno: Just glad we got him to Hershey. When we got him there, the staff couldn't believe that he had been released from Wilson a few hours before.

I was impressed by the defense in the first half of the opening game. I didn't realize at the time that the Giants just suck now. :lol: The offense needs a lot of work.

Hi Allison?! Yeah, I remember thinking it would be forever before I'm in my 20s and now I'm here. It's scary and exciting how time is flying. I "met" a lot of great people on this site and it was nice to find people I could relate to. I remember you shared my fondness for accuracy and remembering dates. I always though I was the only one who put the dates on my toiletries. :lol:

Sonny is correct, I did delete a lot of posts. HOWEVER I had TJ merge my two usernames together - I don't know if you guys remember, but I had joined for a 2nd time by accident in May of 2003, not realizing I'd already joined in 2002. Also had him reset my post count back to what it should be. So, now my post count is accurate. :lol: And yes, Jack is the one with the most posts... And for putting dates on stuff, I also put the date of purchase on my pillow tags with one of these battery-operated Dymo label makers. It's actually a very useful idea -- pillows typically should be used for 3 years and then replaced. After so long with your pillow, it's gonna be full of dead skin, bacteria, dust mite corpses, etc. And that's just gross! :eek: :lol: I used to wash my pillows too - don't know why I stopped. :lol: But that reminds me, it's time to replace my body pillow - I bought it in July of 2011, according to the label I put on it. :eek:

Not turning 30 til next year, but my dad has blessed my sis and me with his bad knees. (Funny thing, that - my dad just recently had his 2nd total knee replacement done...) Mine isn't too bad - YET - but my sis's is getting there, and she had to have acupuncture and adjustments done to her knees when she went to the chiro recently - apparently they were both pretty out of whack! Me, I have issues sitting in chairs where I can't stretch out my legs - if I sit with my knees bent at a 90-degree angle, I *WILL* sound like popcorn and Rice Krispies when I get up, lol. I hope that's not an indication of things to come... :eek:

It's going to be a pain in the ass trying to record some of those movies though. :lol: Normally when they have a Star of the Month tribute it's one day a week for a month, but because it's the 20th anniversary of TCM they're showing his movies for 4 or 5 days in a row nonstop. :crazy:

Well other than a month and a half two years ago working at a gas station, I havent been a nighthawk since the end of 2008. Job wise that is.

Nowadays Sunday-Thursday its early to bed for work. Fridays and Saturdays I can be a nighthawk.

It really is a huge year for TV DVD. You've got Kotter, WKRP, Batman and Wonder Years coming out. 10 years ago I would have bought all of them. Times have changed. Earlier this year thinking Wonder Years was never going to be on DVD, I watched the whole series on netflix. I saw a few eps of Batman on YT a while back and couldn't get into it again. I might buy season 1 sometime because I did love the show as a kid. I got a bootleg set of Kotter a few years ago and most of the eps are 24 mins long so there isn't a lot that's missing. WKRP, even with a few music substitutions is a must buy for me. I have all the eps with all the music on my computer so it's not a big deal.

I paid crazy money to get the entire collection of the A-Team. I've only watch the whole show twice since I've gotten it. :lol: I still haven't gotten all of Dallas. I have it up to the end of the 1986-87 season. That was the last great year. Of course I still have the show on VHS when I originally taped it so I do have the entire series. One day I"ll get it all. Are you watching the TNT version of Dallas? I haven't seen season 3 yet because I wanted to watch it all at once. I've seen a lot of people hate it though. I don't think the show as a whole stands up to the original. I'm glad they brought closure to Pam though. That's probably the best thing they've done.

I bought most seasons of Dukes at amazon for about $10 each about 4 years ago. I haven't been to Big Lots in a couple of years. The closest one is about 30 miles away and all they had was a few seasons of Walker: Texas Ranger and Samantha Who. :lol:

To be honest, the thought of spending a lot of money, especially over a hundred bucks on a TV-DVD set, does not appeal to me; since I rather spend that kind of dough on concert tickets.

I only got past Season 9, that was only the 2nd time I've watched that season. :lol: I used to skip over it and watch Season 10 after I watched Season 8. I'd keep those tapes because I heard that a few of the episodes have been edited due to music rights. I know one of the Barbecue episodes is missing a scene because it's several minutes shorter than normal.

I'm still watching it, but it's not the same without JR. I just don't care too much about these characters. One minute they're good and the next they're bad. I do like Pamela Rebecca and John Ross and that crazy Emma, but the rest of the new characters aren't interesting. The last episode before the break is probably the best episode since JR was on the show. I think they go overboard most of the time and so much happens in such a short time it's hard to process. The original Dallas never had that problem. I was surprised they even mentioned Pamela since the writing has been off the wall at times. :lol:

I was a fan of Knots Landing too and this Dallas isn't even close to KL. :lol:

Have to admit I havent really caught much of the new Dallas. I see its still holding up after Hagman's death, but the show must go on I guess.

I still can't believe Robin Williams is dead. For me it's the most shocking/sad celebrity death since John Ritter passed away. It's not just that he's dead, but the way he died. So sad. :( He gave so much to so many, laughter, helping out with sick children and charities. He had an unbelievable amount of energy. The role of Mork fit him like a glove because his comedy was out of this world. Henry Winkler said it best the other night when he said Robin Williams was irreplaceable his shoes will be unfilled. There will never be another like him ever again.

I still can't believe Robin Williams is dead. For me it's the most shocking/sad celebrity death since John Ritter passed away. It's not just that he's dead, but the way he died. So sad. :( He gave so much to so many, laughter, helping out with sick children and charities. He had an unbelievable amount of energy. The role of Mork fit him like a glove because his comedy was out of this world. Henry Winkler said it best the other night when he said Robin Williams was irreplaceable his shoes will be unfilled. There will never be another like him ever again.

I know what you mean. That's exactly what it reminded me of. I was just in absolute shock when I heard about it. :( I remember watching that HD episode when it originally aired. He had me falling off the couch. I loved Mork & Mindy especially the first season. He had us kids imitating him in the schoolyard back then. I haven't really followed him too much the last decade or so. I might have to watch some of his latest movies that I missed. He did have some good ones in the 80's and 90's. I think Mrs. Doubfire and Good Morning Vietnam are my 2 favorites. As for the way he died, it's very sad. I've battled depression. It just hits you very deep.Sometimes it's hard to get out of it and he had a great support system in place. You look at Robin and you see how loved he was and it's hard to understand. He gave so much laughter to the world and he was so sad inside. It breaks your heart. :(

They interviewed Garry Marshall and he was talking about the first time he met Robin. He said that Robin came into his office and sat on his head and was drinking with his finger...you know the things he did on the show. He had him in stitches. He made everybody laugh. They were showing clips of that HD episode the other day and it was as funny now as it was then. Robin Williams was one of a kind. :(

Mork and Mindy is a great show. I don't think I ever saw an episode until 1998 when Fox Family aired it for a couple of months. I thought it was hilarious. I had a mini marathon of M&M the other night and it's still one of the funniest shows I've seen. I'm ashamed to say that I've only seen a handful of his movies. :( I've seen Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, Popeye, Dead Poets, The World According To Garp, Awakenings and Insomnia. Looking at his filmography I didn't realize he made so many movies. Seems like he made a bunch of comedies in the 80's I never heard of. :eek: Insomnia is a great film. Al Pacino is in it too. :cool: I need to watch Good Will Hunting, One Hour Photo and The Fisher King sometime. They say those were some of his best films.

I had a feeling there was more to his suicide than depression, like maybe he had a terminal cancer that wasn't made public. I never would have thought Parkinson's Disease. :(

I think I'm going to watch Insomnia this weekend. Haven't seen it in over 10 years. :eek: I'm really not a fan of modern movies in general and whenever I would look at an actors filmography like Robin Williams, I'd see stuff like Flubber and the other kids movies and not really bother with it.

I watched a couple of episodes of The Crazy Ones but lost interest. I guess I was expecting something else. I heard it got better when they added Brad Garrett, but I never really watched it after that except for the episode with Marilu Henner. I missed the Pam Dawber episode too. TMZ is now saying that he was depressed over The Crazy Ones being cancelled, not Parkinsons. I don't know what to believe anymore in the media.

Yeah, that was awful. :( I'm not surprised though because that crap happens all the time on social media sites like FB and twitter. Too much negativity. I think it's worse when you're a celebrity or relative of one because that opens the door for all the trolls.
