I think they closed down Abbey Road for the cover photo. You can tell that the cover photo for Paul Is Live wasn't taken at Abbey Road, but is a doctored version of the original Abbey Road cover.
There are a lot of cool pictures from the Abbey Road cover photo sessions in the Beatles Anthology book.

I saw that earlier, and I hid under my bed for a while. I came back up 2 hours later, and it was still like that, so I assumed everything would be o.k.
