British Version of Coupling is Better

So far, the British version is better.

I believe a single episode of the British version will air on Bravo, Tuesday October 7th at 11pm. Most likely a one time thing (it will be the episode Size Matters). I'm pretty sure it's the British version, at least it's what my TiVo guide and Yahoo TV search says.

The british version is much better, and it airs quite often on BBC America.

If anyone wants to watch, an encore of the US pilot will air on Bravo Tuesday September 30th at 11pm.

"Coupling": Witty Britcom fails to translate on NBC

Diane Werts says the "all-too-Americanized" remake has been pilfered so much it "lengthens the parade of bland, artificial and smugly smutty singles-coms that NBC continues to inflict upon 'mature' viewers." She says the British original's "keen gender observations, brisk repartee and pinpoint timing are sabotaged by ploddingly nondescript performers whose notion of emotional reaction is confined to sitcom 'takes' like whimpering and exaggeratedly raising eyebrows. They sell what should be subtle dialogue like infomercial barkers, declaiming as if from cue cards. Worst of all, they don't seem very smart."

"If you can't handle sex well, you shouldn't touch it at all," says Kay McFadden. She adds: "Even in an era of graphic groping and single-entendres, 'Coupling' stood out for its clumsy attempts to titillate and shock. You were embarrassed for it the way you are when your 13-year-old nephew discovers sex, minus the tolerant affection."

Is "Coupling" canceled?

NBC is replacing Thursday's episode with "Whoopi." But network executives insist "Coupling" isn't canceled, though they won't say when it will return, if it returns at all.
