Default Larry King DISRESPECTS John Ritter

It is an ABSOLUTE INSULT that Larry King Live on CNN only had 18 minutes of time for John Ritter's Death on Friday and then a pathetic 7 minutes on Monday!!

The reason I want John on this show so badly is because it is the only TV show where we fans can call in and give comments, condolences, and questions to the guests!! THE FANS OF JOHNNY CASH GOT TO CALL IN AND GIVE THEIR CONDOLENCES AND SO SHOULD WE!!

How the hell can that old walking corpse Larry King do this???

He gave Johnny Cash a full hour yet he was old and sick with diabetes and his death would not be that suprising.

But John Ritter was MUCH YOUNGER than Cash and showed no signs of sickness and YET HE DIED TOTALLY UNEXPECTEDLY!!

And yet all he has for John Ritter is a measley 18 minutes on Friday and then a paltry 7 minutes on Monday!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!

WE ALL KNOW that John Ritter deserves AT LEAST a full hour on Larry King Live where CALLERS CAN CALL IN AND ASK QUESTIONS OR GIVE COMMENTS ABOUT JOHN RITTER!!! Johnny Cash got the full hour and John Ritter deserves the same!!

Everyone please call CNN at 404-827-1500 and request to have Ritter on for the full hour on Larry King Live. Ask for the Larry King Live show and then they will transfer you to someone.

THANKS A LOT FELLOW RITTER FANS

I agree 100%! This is so rude! Johnny Cash's death was very sad, but he was old! John Ritter was young and had a 5 year old daughter, and many other kids, and a wife. This is ridiculous! MSN posted news about Johnn'y Cash's death, but nothing about John Ritter!

Very repectful indeed.

Thumbs up Here! Here!

I absolutely agree Mr. Roper!! I've been complaining about the
unfair balance in coverage for days and everyone says the same thing, that it's because of Johnny's age. Well, isn't that exactly
why John Ritter should get more coverage? I was going to do this
in another post, but I feel I need to get it out now. My best friend
passed away unexpectedly about six months ago due to respiratory problems that no one thought were that bad.
She had spina biffida, but that isn't terminal. We were a year
and six days apart. She would have turned 33 in January. Sorry,
I didn't mean to start rambling, but two-thirds of your life is a
LONG time for a best friendship. Anyway, I think John Ritter
deserves at least a three hour retrospective, because when
someone who is still fairly young dies so unexpectedly, it
really hurts for a long time.

Hi all,
Reading this thread, one would gather that only a person's age and their health at the time of their death determine how much time Larry King devotes to him or her on his show. Are those really the sole deciding factors?

For those of you who don't know, Johnny Cash was not just a sick old man -- he was a musical legend, whose work influenced *generations* of country music, rock 'n' roll, folk and gospel music artists, and who was in show business for nearly as long as John Ritter was alive.

I've been a fan of John Ritter's for decades and am quite saddened by his death. But, I knew Johnny Cash's work (though my father) *years* before I'd ever even heard of John Ritter!

Would you happen to know, Big3sCompanyFan, exactly how many minutes Larry King devoted to Bob Hope when he died? It must've been a lot more than an hour. After all, he was a lot *older* than Johnny Cash was, and according to you, that's the yardstick.

Have any of you who seem to think that age and health determines the factor in time in which you give someone on air is a factor please stop and consider that with most if not all famous icons, obits and news specials are readily repaired before the death of a celebrity. For instance, I work in a news office and we have obits for the likes of Cash and many other top celebs that are aging fast and/or have deteriating health so that if the sudden death of them happens we do not have to spend countless hours trying to get a whole career memorialized in a matter of minutes and the tribute can be and will be respective of the person and not just some crap thrown together.
Larry King probably had more information, interviews, and since he is a talk person on a news channel he probably had more access to Johnny Cash readily available, but that does not mean that he disrepected John Ritter in any way, CAN YOU PREDICT WHAT HIS STAFF MAY BE DOING OR WILL DO IN THE FUTURE as far as trying to gather material and persons for an hour long show on John Ritter. His death was unexpected and so NO ONE knew to be prepaired with a on hand memorial for him, unlike Cash who was suck and IT WAS REPORTED about his health a few weeks ago so many new that Cash would not be around for much longer so the work was already in progress for his tribute.!!!!!!!
GROW UP YOU PEOPLE YOU ALL ACT LIKE JOHN RITTER WAS YOUR BEST FRIEND HIS FAMILY FOR CHRIST SAKE IS NOT MAKING AS MUCH STINK ABOUT AIR TIME AS YOU ALL ARE, and have you thought that maybe his family and/or friends just want their privacy and do not want all the publicity made wiht his death since he di i fact have YOUNG children (child - 5). Cash's kid is grown!

Oh and FYI....
I hav eheard more about John Ritter on Entertainment Tonight than I have about Cash so does that mean that they are disrespecting Cash by not showing as much on him? It works both ways people.
And if you think that its disrepectful to not show a whole hour on one person and a whole hour on another, then you have to much time on your hands especially if you are (and you know who you are) a person that counts minutes of airtime on Larry King. The status of the two people are very different. I didnt know they had a time limit on respect and/or a time limit on a tribute. I was not aware that you were disrepectful for only showing (i think you said 7 minutes) a few minutes on a persons death. Its not a competition its a person life and you cannot put a time limit on the person such as 7 minutes or 60 minutes. Its up to you to remember the person not another person to do tha for you. Why call CNN, have yo uthought about the fact that some stations own rights to interviews, movie or song clips tha tothers cannot play since they do not have the rights? Are you also aware that CNN has sponsers and that maybe the people that were on Larry King for John Ritter did not have a whole hour to stay or that some could or would not speak on camera at that very moment and later they will when they have time to mourn...GET OVER IT JOHN RITTER WAS NOT THE ONLY CELEB TO PASS AWAY, as it was sad we cannot stop all airings or other things and stop the world just for him. As much of a fan of his I am/was I still have other peole I enjoy hearing about and enjoy watching on TV and refuse to devout my entire tv viewing to one person. A lot ofyou people act like the only person you ever watched was the character of Paul or Jack Tripper, c'mon tell the truth if 3's company or 8 simple rules was not on you watched other TV shows, is that going to stop cause they dont write in their show a tribute to John Ritter, cause that would be disrepectful wouldnt it? I DONT THINK SO

Montanya427,
Well said -- both times.

Here's a question to ponder: How many people do you suppose will call ABC to complain about their having done a one-hour tribute to John Ritter last night but, so far, nothing like that for Johnny Cash?

No, Art. One of the reasons John should've gotten a full hour is because HE WAS VISIBLY HEALTHY AND DIED SO SHOCKINGLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY AT SUCH A YOUNG AGE while on the other hand Johnny Cash and Bob Hope WERE BOTH MUCH OLDER AND SICK so it was not as suprising when they died.

Art, Ritter was a HUGE star for 2 hit ABC shows but Johnny Cash didn't have any direct connection to ABC. Plus Johnn Cash has gotten the better coverage overall since he got a whole hour on Larry King plus he's on the cover of Time magazine.

SO ALL MY FELLOW RITTER FANS DON'T FORGET TO CALL CNN AT 404-827-1500 and ask for the Larry King Live show and request to have Ritter on for the whole hour and give the reasons we've discussed.

Thanks
