As a TV fanatic, I will absolutely die on the hill that shortening the average TV show season from 22 episodes to 9 has essentially destroyed television. Binge watching can definitely be fun, but in my opinion, the real art of character development — and, most importantly, getting your audience to actually care about your characters — rests in tension and buildup. AKA, it requires time. Cramming what used to be an entire calendar year's worth of storytelling into a single day's binge just breaks. |
