Mike Rowe filed a lawsuit against Discovery Talent Services for at least $2.04 million in unpaid fees, alleging the network breached his "pay-or-play" narration contract for Deadliest Catch and its spinoffs. The complaint, filed by Rowe and his production company Lab Rat, centers on a 2020 agreement that secured his voiceover services for the franchise. According to the lawsuit, this deal stipulated Rowe would be paid $40,000 per episode for originally produced content. However, Rowe claims he was bypassed and unpaid for at least 51 episodes across spinoffs like Bloodline, The Viking Returns, and Northern Edge. Rowe's attorneys argue the contract's "pay-or-play" clause requires Discovery to compensate him regardless of whether they choose to use his narration. This recent lawsuit follows a previous complaint filed in June 2025, where Rowe sued Discovery over unpaid streaming residuals for Dirty Jobs. Discovery has historically disputed the allegations, stating they have fulfilled their contractual obligations. |
