The Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4 has come to an end, but unfortunately it was rather mixed. What went wrong with this phase of the MCU?

The recent leaks about Marvel being extremely unhappy with Phase 4's reception got me thinking about how and why this franchise went off the rails. So let's take a look, shall we?

MCU Phase 4 has come to an end and it was without question the most flawed Phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. The MCU experimented with various films, as well as shows on their Disney+ platform. Some of it worked and some of it absolutely failed. Bringing into question the integrity of the MCU and signs that it may well be past it's prime with Phases 1-3. Gone are the days of the highs of Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame, at least for now. Why did Phase 4 end up so disappointing? Marvel's Phase 4 is officially complete. While there were many missteps, especially in the last year, there were good things to say about it as well. The question is, will Phase 5 build off of what went right and fix what went wrong? Or will it all come crashing down?
