Default The Elephant Show: It's Crazy Origin Story

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPWDLEkHBUs

Quote:
The Elephant Show wasn't just a kids' music program. It was a stealth music education disguised as pure joy, created by three Canadian folk singers who borrowed $22,000, had never performed together, and accidentally made one of the most successful children's shows in North American history.

In this deep dive, we break down how Sharon, Lois & Bram turned a borrowed recording budget into a cultural phenomenon that beat Sesame Street in national rankings, reached over 100 million viewers, and turned a 1910 Broadway show tune about a lovesick crocodile into the most recognizable sign-off in children's TV. We cover the unlikely origin story, the genius of a tuba-voiced elephant, the real musical sophistication hidden inside every episode, and why this show still matters decades later.

If you grew up watching The Elephant Show on Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., or CBC, this video is going to unlock memories you forgot you had. And if you've never heard of it — welcome to your new obsession.

What's the one show from your childhood that nobody else seems to remember? Drop it in the comments — we read every single one.

Just a few months shy of the premiere of Nick Jr, Nickelodeon imported their best preschool program yet. Join Sharon, Lois and Bram as they sing non-stop and let the whims decide where the episode is going to go.

Sharon Lois And Bram were easily one of the biggest groups in children's music second to Greg And Steve and children's singer Raffi but when they launched Sharon Lois And Bram's Elephant Show in Canada little did they know that this show would make them huge celebrities in children's music. And what better way to promote their albums with their own show with a cute elephant puppet. In a way the elephant puppet served as sort of their mascot because it made the show unique for attracting the 4-7 age group. But when Nick Jr. began airing Sharon Lois And Bram's Elephant Show reruns in America in the 90's it made Sharon Lois And Bram big stars in America by selling dozens of albums making appearances at children's elementary and preschools even starring in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 1992 and this show not only was a success for Nick Jr. but inspired children's music artists to launch their own show. Like they made celebrities out of The Laurie Berkner Band and many other up and coming children's music artists and when you appear on Nick Jr. if you were a new children's music artist they gave you a ticket to success which is what happened with Sharon Lois And Bram and if it wasn't for The Elephant Show they wouldn't have the chance to be bigger stars. My teacher had some Sharon Lois And Bram albums on cassette when I was in preschool and I thought their music was fun and upbeat and the way they turned nursery rhymes and children's songs into wonderful music really set Sharon Lois And Bram different from other children's music groups
