Sid Krofft, the visionary puppeteer and co-creator of psychedelic children's television classics, died of natural causes on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 96. According to his publicist, Adam Fenton, Krofft passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Los Angeles home of his friend and business partner, Kelly Killian. His death comes roughly three years after the passing of his younger brother and longtime collaborator, Marty Krofft, who died in November 2023. |

An appreciation of Sid Krofft
Marty Krofft integral to one of TV's most influential ...Sid Krofft (1929–2026) was a visionary puppeteer and television producer who revolutionized children's programming in the 1970s. Alongside his brother Marty, he created iconic, surreal live-action fantasy shows like H.R. Pufnstuf, Land of the Lost, and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, blending puppetry, vibrant sets, and psychedelic, imaginative storytelling. |

Definitely a sad day for fans of Saturday morning TV with the passing of Sid Krofft. He and his brother Marty created some of the most surreal kids shows of all time such as H.R. Pufnstuf, Lidsville, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters and Land of the Lost. Let's not overlook his variety show Donny & Marie, The Brady Bunch Variety Hour and Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters. May he rest in peace.
