Question Was Bewitched as a sitcom, ahead of its time for 1969?

At least from the standpoint of jokes being presumably, approved by the censors.

For example, in the episode where Sam and Darrin hire Esmerelda, they have a quick interview with her first, with Endora present. Sam and Darrin are standing across from Esmerelda and Endora (both sitting on the sofa), and Sam asks: "Esmerelda, do you have any experience?" Esmerelda answers bashfully, "Not exactly...as a matter of fact, I've never even been married." A shocked Sam and Darrin blush. Darrin then, turns to walk away (before Sam stops him), and Endora has to explain, "They mean as a housekeeper." Esmerelda herself, blushes and then says she used to keep house for Henry the Eighth and all his wives.

And in few episodes after that, a pregnant Samantha has an appointment with her doctor, just a few weeks before her due date. They talk about her daily routine, and she tells him, "I still take my pill every day." He laughs and says, "Isn't it a little too late for that?" She laughs and says, "I meant my iron pill."

Thank you for taking my post directly from DataLounge and copying / pasting it here, without giving me credit. Very noble of you.

Thanks for this information. Too bad they allow this on the forum. It's frustrating to see this happen.

TMC isn't a bot. He's been a member for over 25 years.

Cloudflare blocks the bots and automated traffic. The only bot we have on here posts the birthday threads.

We can debate real person vs. bot, but one thing for sure is beyond debate, there's something odd about all this. An endless stream of links (an average of over 4,800 a year) with virtually no context. If TMC is a person has TMC looked at any of the things he provides links to, does he have any interest in the topics covered in these links to begin with. Doesn't appear so since he doesn't respond to comments. He just ripped off Durwood, that's a problem.

My suggestion, if TMC is not banned from the site give TMC an area in Chit Chat, he can post his links there. TMC is not creating proprietary content, why allow he/it to mix with people who are doing that.

I've had TMC respond directly to me on a very few occasions, in threads he has initiated. On the other hand, when I once pointed out to him (as the sole responder to his thread) that he erroneously linked to the wrong article, and corrected that by providing a valid link (I think it was a MeTV.com article), he had no reply.

One of the issues I think centers on quality vs. quantity. When hundreds of new threads are initiated, it's impossible for the O.P. to follow up on very many at all, while overwhelming visitors to the site. The other concerns plagiarism as Duster76 mentions.

There are now thousands of threads on this site initiated by TMC that have seen zero replies. This is more of an observation than an indictment. Perhaps more to the point, the vast majority of those likely will remain that way.
