I have never figured out why The Olympics are still a big deal during the winter and summer but I can't figure out how they manage to score ratings when they are on? Is it because people think The Olympics are a big affair in sports between the Super Bowl and The World Series? Because every time when either the Winter Olympics or Summer Olympics begin they treat it like March Madness the Super Bowl or The Indianapolis 500. And now that the 2026 Winter Olympics have officially begun I think NBC will make the Winter Olympics have strong ratings than the Super Bowl and that will make NBC number one in sports programming

The Olympics, between winter and summer games, bring together athletes from over 200 countries, promoting a sense of global unity.

The main reason I think the Olympics continue to be popular is because each year that they have either the Summer or Winter Olympics it seems to score giant ratings and the main things that give the Olympics huge ratings are the opening and closing ceremonies and I also think the Olympics get so much commercial advertising even before they begin and I think the ratings for this year's Winter Olympics will go sky high when they end

Actual the Olympics have been around a long, long, time. The first Olympics was first played in 776 BC.
The modern Olympics began on April 6, 1896, in Athens, Greece. Then began the games, winter and summer games, in the same year, but ever four years. The Olympic Games began alternating between Summer and Winter editions in 1994, when the Winter Olympics were held two years after the Summer Olympics, which took place in 1992. This change established a four-year cycle for each type of Games, occurring every two years. I think that the games are still popular because mainly they are a TRADITIONS .... they have even been played during "war times" with the countries that were at war with each other competing in the games. |

Take a drink everytime Hawkee mentions the word "ratings".
That being said, it's because it's a sports competition that happens every 4 years for both. If they happened every summer and winter, they wouldn't be as special or as entertaining. |
