Before Nick at Nite turned “classic TV” into a brand, retro programming was already happening—messy, regional, and weird in the best way. In this video, we break down the strange early days of retro TV blocks: when reruns were cheap filler, UHF stations built “time machines” out of whatever they owned, superstations made local schedules feel national, and late-night TV had the wildest tonal whiplash imaginable.

Very interesting.

I guess The Monkees chose me. I remember them airing at my aunts apartment. Than watching it at home at my parents house on NICK at NITE.

Things I still remember The Monkees on NICK at NITE at 1:30AM. The Donna Reed Show on NICK at NITE at 12:00AM & 4:00AM.

The Brady Bunch airing on TBS at 4:35pm. Than moving to NICK at NITE airing at 9:00pm followed by The Wonder Years at 9:30pm.

TVLand airing The Andy Griffith Show at 10:00pm & Leave It To Beaver at 10:30pm.


I remember as a kid this airing all Summer Friday nights than aired in Season line up
8:00pm Perfect Strangers
8:30pm Full House
9:00pm Mr.Belvedere
9:30pm Just The Ten Of Us


Unfortunately currently that seems to be a problem now that you got to find comfort shows. You can’t stay in one place like NICK at NITE and watch it All NITE & EVERY NITE! Like now I tune into Andy Griffith WeekNights on Me TV from 8:00pm-9:00pm than after 9:00pm it’s about binge watching or locating programming.


Over on Pluto TV Classic Families they have Great Programming but they don’t show those “COMFORT CLASSIC FAMILIES” at NITE like NICK at NITE did when they showed Dennis the Menace My Three Sons The Donna Reed Show The Patty Duke Show The Danny Thomas The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Brady Bunch and more!!
