Felix Solis (The Rookie, Ozark) is the latest to join the cast of NBC‘s "The Rockford Files" pilot, which also includes the previously announced cast led by David Boreanaz, and also includes Michaela McManus and Jacki Weaver.

He will play Rockford’s (Boreanaz) best friend, Nitty, who turned his life around and became a successful South L.A. defense attorney. He stayed in the neighborhood to help effect change.

With primetime slots on NBC being severely limited by all-season NBA Coast-2-Coast Tuesdays and two-hour Dateline on Fridays, not to mention the network being deadlocked into keeping the Law & Order and Chicago shows in first-run forever, I would not want to give a series order to the wrong shows/pilots (i.e. reboots of cancelled/concluded series). In fact, a reboot of The Rockford Files is the last thing I would want to waste a timeslot on because of this.

NBC has picked up two of its drama pilots to series for the 2026-27 broadcast season: a reboot of “The Rockford Files” and the law enforcement drama “Line of Fire”.

“The Rockford Files”, which will see David Boreanaz take over the role of James Rockford from the late James Garner, was seen as a strong contender for a series pickup from the time it was announced. Its chances only increased after it was screened for the network.



The official logline reads, “Newly paroled after doing time for a crime he didn’t commit, James Rockford (Boreanaz) returns to his life as a private investigator using his charm and wit to solve cases around Los Angeles.

It doesn’t take long for his quest for legitimacy to land him squarely in the crosshairs of both local police and organized crime.”
