Wow - that's an amazing story about Bob Hope and Jerry Mathers. According to this account Hope really did save his life, allowing him to go on to star in LITB. I don't know how many people here read these MeTV posts, but I encourage everyone to read this one.

Yes, I agree, MeTV and all these clickbait TV/pop culture sites do have misinformation, or at best, exaggerations. Not saying that's the case with this one.
