I doubt that Peter Boyle (Frank) could've done another season. I once saw it said that his health started declining during the final season. Right me if I am wrong there. His passing was on December 12, 2006. The last episode was shown in May of the year before.

Yes, Peter did not look good in season 9.

Also, I disagree with the idea that it should have gone to season 10. I don't think they should have done season 9, although there were a few memorable episodes in that abbreviated season.

Another thing: the final episode was routine, other than the zoom out at the table, at the end. They could have maybe done another clip show.

Peter Boyle said that the decision to end Everybody Loves Raymond was made by Phil Rosenthal and Ray Romano

"They didn’t want us to keep the show going and run out of quality."

^^^ That's a fair statement and in my opinion, the show didn't end too early or too soon. Nine seasons is a good and thorough run.

I’m glad it ended when and how it did. I thought they landed that plane perfectly.

Plus, as mentioned above, I doubt Peter Boyle was in any condition to appear in a 10th season.
