Following the Skydance-Paramount merger and the subsequent departure of Nina L. Diaz in August 2025, no single individual is leading MTV's programming development. Instead, the oversight of MTV and the broader cable network portfolio is handled by a team under a restructured leadership.

Key executives involved in the post-merger leadership include:

• George Cheeks: As chairman of TV Media, Cheeks oversees the company's cable TV networks, including MTV, Comedy Central, and BET.
• Jeff Shell: As president of the newly formed company, Shell oversees the day-to-day operations of the conglomerate's various media businesses.
• Cindy Holland: The former Netflix executive now leads the new Paramount's streaming businesses, including Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
• Dana Goldberg: As co-chair of Paramount Pictures, she also oversees Paramount Television Studios.

In this new structure, the portfolio of brands previously managed by Diaz is being split among these executives, replacing the former single-president role with a more decentralized team-based approach.
