In today's video, we will be discussing the topic of tween entertainment and where it stands in our lives today. From my research, it seems like we have lost the conventional tween era and replaced it with nothing..leaving the younger generation with only what is popular on their phones. I explore when I believe this decline happened and mentioned some key players the contributed to a change. I hope you enjoy my commentary on this video

During the 80's it was the time of teen stars and from sitcoms to movies and even drama shows it truly was the decade of the teen idols. And in the 80's music started having their teen idols too and so with stars like Debbie Gibson who made her debut with her album Out Of The Blue Debbie released hit after hit from that album and soon became a teen sensation. Also debuting in 1987 was Tiffany and when her cover of Tommy James And The Shondells hit I Think Were Alone Now became a smash hit Tiffany herself was achieving success and she like Debbie Gibson became an international sensation. In boy bands we saw the success of teen bands like Menudo and New Kids On The Block and when New Kids On The Block came out in 1986 they began as one-hit wonders but it was actually the 1988 album Hanging Tough that made New Kids On The Block mega teen stars and when Menudo debuted their first English language album with their first English hit Hold Me Menudo became superstars and introduced us to a young Ricky Martin. Speaking of teen artists we saw teen oriented groups like New Edition that introduced us to Bobby Brown and Bobby Brown went solo in 1986 but his debut album King Of Stage was weak but it was actually the Don't Be Cruel album that made Bobby Brown a big household name. And doing things like this for teen stars it meant that it was the beginning of a long career. And as the 80's ended and the 90's began the teen pop genre became popular with new teen stars and groups such as rap group Another Bad Creation and Immature making their marks in teen music and while Debbie Gibson and Tiffany released albums in the 90's they were starting to wane in the music charts. But we saw the debuts of boy bands like Nelson and new male singers such as Dino and Jeremy Jordan and even Joey Lawrence had a singing career too. But once R&B music became popular teen stars like the late Aaliyah and Monica dominated the airwaves and when Brandy made her debut she became a star too. But once Backstreet Boys and NSYNC made their debuts the boy band genre took off like a rocket. And when Britney Spears debuted in 1999 she was originally known as a positive role model and then when Christina Aguilera debuted Christina was a different type of teen artist. But these days it's hard to find good teen music because with artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce it's hard to find good teen music today because once artists like Hillary Duff grew up they focused on their mature adult image
