"The White Lotus" Finds Its Primary Location for Season 4

"The White Lotus" will check into a 19th century chateau for its home base in season four. The HBO series, created by Mike White, will use the Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez, France, to double as part of a luxury hotel chain whose guests keep getting murdered.

The hotel, open seasonally from late April to mid-October, sits a little inland from the coastal French Riviera town of Saint-Tropez but offers views of of the sea and accommodations that will set you back about $1,300 per night in the smallest room on opening weekend.

According to the hotel’s website, the Château de la Messardière was built in the 19th century by a wealthy cognac merchant named Gabriel Dupuy d’Angeac, who then gave the chateau to his daughter Louise and her husband as a wedding gift.

Following her husband’s death, Louise converted the property to a hotel, which became a getaway for wealthy Parisians in the 1920s. The chateau later fell into disrepair but was restored in 1989; it’s now part of the Airelles group of luxury hotels.

Season four, which will also employ other locations in France, is slated to begin production in the spring.
