Spielberg's landmark blockbuster thriller film, which premiered on June 20, 1975, will air on NBC on June 20, 2025. The NBC screening and Spielberg’s introduction are just some of the plans NBC Universal has to mark the anniversary. Peacock, for instance, will show all four Jaws films.

Jaws turns 50: Watch Steven Spielberg react on TV in real time to his Oscars snub for best director.

To mark the 50th anniversary of "Jaws," a video of Steven Spielberg reacting to his Oscar snub for Best Director at the 1976 Academy Awards has resurfaced. The footage, filmed by Spielberg himself, captures his live reaction to the nominations announcement, where he was visibly surprised and disappointed at not being nominated. Despite the snub, "Jaws" went on to win three Oscars, and Spielberg, of course, became one of the most acclaimed directors of all time.

During the 70's thrillers and disaster themed movies were in style and they seemed to be a successful genre. But in 1975 Steven Spelberg's Jaws changed all that because when Steven Spelberg saw how a thriller with a shark would work fans went wild. When Jaws opened in theaters it indeed became a monster hit and to this day if you ask anybody what Steven Spelberg's best thriller is they will most likely say Jaws. Because it is full of action suspense and horror and adventure and that's why it became an iconic classic. But why Jaws 2 was created i'll never have an answer to because in my eyes Jaws should've been left alone and never had a sequel. But it's easy to see why Jaws remains a classic thriller because it defines the real goodness of thrillers
