Michael C. Hall Returning for New "Dexter" Series "Resurrection" & "Original Sin"

Showtime‘s "Dexter" returned to San Diego Comic-Con on Friday night with a very special guest in tow, Michael C. Hall.

Hall will serve as the narrator of the 90s-set series "Original Sin", or the voice within Dexter. It will premiere in December.

Additionally, Hall will star in "Dexter: Resurrection", a new series that is set in present day and a followup to the 2021 "Dexter: New Blood". It will launch in summer 2025.

A Dexter Resurrection fan theory would place Dexter in a predicament he has yet to encounter, creating a fresh & intriguing way to continue his story.

Michael C. Hall Says "Dexter" Prequel "Will Help Inform" his Experience on the New Sequel Series

Even though Michael C. Hall's titular killer didn't survive the series finale of "Dexter: New Blood", he's coming back in a big way.

First, Hall is narrating the upcoming prequel series, "Dexter: Original Sin", as Dexter's inner voice, and then he'll somehow bring the character back onscreen in the next — and appropriately-titled — sequel series, "Dexter: Resurrection", which is set in the present day (again, we ask ... how?!).

While the actor can't answer that question (or say much at all) about if/how Dexter comes back from the dead, he revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the prequel will definitely have an impact on the new sequel.

"The scripts they've executed are fantastic," Hall told EW during 2024 Comic-Con last month. "I can't wait, like as a fan, to watch it, and as an actor, to spend time seeing real footage of things that I've sort of tried to imagine for myself when I imagine what Dexter's early days [were like], now I'm going to have this technicolor version of his memories to refer to. And I think it will help inform my experience of whatever comes next in the other series, which I can only speak vaguely about at this point."
