Peter Ostrum. Who played Charlie in the original movie version of Willie Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (the version in which Gene Wilder plays Willie Wonka). He never acted in anything else after that. While he said he enjoyed making the movie he knew even at that age he had no interest in becoming an actor. Peter Ostrum would go on to study veterinary medicine in college and worked happily as a veterinarian for several years in northern New York.
