I still find it bizarre that MTV still has their annual Video Music Awards every year. But yet, they still don't play music videos on their network anymore. In fact, they haven't played music videos since Hips Don't Lie by Shakira.

Kind of makes you wonder what the "M" in "MTV" stands for now doesn't it folks?

The broadcast network, airing the awards for the first time, fueled a 42 percent increase in viewers for the VMAs. Sunday's show, which also aired on MTV and streamed on Paramount+, delivered 5.5 million viewers, according to Nielsen's earliest-available numbers (that include out-of-home viewing).
