TMC Member Forum Idol Join Date: Jan 09, 2001 Posts: 124,436	Was Mary Tyler Moore actually too young for the part she was playing The Korean War ended when Mary Tyler Moore was 17. So if Laura knew Rob during his Korean war-era service, wouldn't that mean that she would have been 15 or 16? Or was Mary simply supposed to be close to Dick Van Dyke’s age in the show, not the 11 years younger she actually was?
