However, it's clear earlier in the show's run, that both James and Florida are older than her.

The later suggestion that Florida and Willona were high school classmates is a significant continuity error within the series:

Florida’s Education Arc: In the Season 2 episode "Florida Goes to School," it is explicitly stated that Florida dropped out in the 10th grade. The episode centers on her struggle to finally get her high school equivalency diploma (GED), a goal James initially opposes.

The Retcon: Despite this established history, the writers in later seasons—particularly after Florida's return in Season 6—began referencing a shared childhood and high school years to explain their deep bond.
