The Golden Girls definitely has its plot holes but I think most enduring sitcoms do. Mamas Family has such plot holes because if you take the show from the Carol Burnett show, Mama's children (numbers and names) keeps changing. When the show went to syndication Vint's 2 children are forgotten and Vint keeps talking about being a father for the first time with Naomi.
The Golden Girls has more plot holes than just the children and grand children. In the Empty Nest episode Dorothy talks about the neighbor throwing up in their swimming pool. The Golden Girls did not have a pool and even one episode Sophia says they are the only house on the block without a pool.
