Can ABC bring back TGIF Retro Nites? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

ABC has attempted a couple times to bring back TGIF with New TGIF. My thought is they need to just should have it as a Retro block.

ABC airing TGIF Every Friday Nite
8:00pm-10:00pm

September & December & March
1989 1st Friday of the month
1990 2nd Friday of the month
1991 3rd Friday of the month
1992 4th Friday of the month

October & January & April
1993 1st Friday of the month
1994 2nd Friday of the month
1995 3rd Friday of the month
1996 4th Friday of the month

November & February & May
1997 1st Friday of the month
1998 2nd Friday of the month
1999 3rd Friday of the month
2000 4th Friday of the month

June & July & August TGIF before it became TGIF
8pm Perfect Strangers
8:30pm Full House
9pm Mr. Belvedere
9:30pm Just The 10 Of Us

Of course, it should be a great idea because It should bring back memories of what TGIF block was interesting during its both heyday and peak.

ABC gave up on Fridays when they made 20/20 permanently 2 hours every week.

20/20 Should move to the ABC 24 Hour news channel.

Whenever a channel brings back old programming, it tends to do poorly in the ratings.

It would be hard to bump off Shark Tank. Many of the original TGIF shows could easily run on Saturday mornings. Most of Saturday morning programing morphed from cartoon to kid/teen based sitcoms before E/I and local news took over.

They can move Shark Tank to 10:00pm. Moving 20/20 to a different nigh or Have there 24 hour ABC News Channel air 20/20.

That doesn't help the idea of reviving TGIF.

I recently stumbled upon this podcast called Acid Washed Memories that has an episode discussing the history of ABC's TGIF.
