Comedian Conan O'Brien will host the 2025 Oscar awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced. This is O'Brien's first time hosting the biggest night on the US entertainment calendar, following two consecutive years of late-night television star Jimmy Kimmel in the role.

Oscars telecast was down 7%

Viewership for the telecast of this year's Oscars ceremony was down 7% from 2024, according to figures from Nielsen. After three consecutive years of growth, viewership slipped to just over 18m in the US, across network ABC and the Oscars' new online partner, Hulu – whose stream was dogged by problems.
