After more than 50 years on CBS, Christmas classics Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman will have a new home for the holidays this year: NBC. |

Once NBCU acquired the Rankin/Bass catalog, I figured it was only a matter of waiting for the CBS contract to expire before “Rudolph” moved back to NBC. I didn’t see “Frosty’s” move coming, though, but it makes sense.

Quote:
Frosty and A Charlie Briwn Christmas are known for having key scenes playing over the end credits and that’s why CBS and Freeform NEVER crunched the end credits on Frosty and that’s why ABC and later PBS never crunched the end credits for A Charlie Brown Christmas (CBS DID do that in the late 90s and if social media existed back then, CBS would’ve been crucified for that.) |

NBC also has The Grinch. They should get Peanuts from Apple. And how about The Wizard of Oz coming back to broadcast TV (especially in the wake of Wicked)?

Just a reminder that the animated special is making it's 60 anniversary on NBC tonight. |

Knowing Hollywoods love for all things prequel, suprised a dumb executive hasn't pitch a movie on how King Moonracer became ruler of the Isle Of Misfit Toys.

When you get the general picture every December when it came to holiday specials CBS was the king of holiday specials and it was all because of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Frosty The Snowman and Frosty Returns that would grant CBS huge ratings in holiday programming. The way I see it why Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and Frosty The Snowman got moved to NBC was not because of expiration of contract but NBC thought it would be a cheaper deal to own the rights to both of those holiday specials so they mainly did it for money reasons. Because in all honesty these are holiday classics and NBC likes any holiday specials because they make NBC get huge ratings every year "Look at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade". But the holiday special I can't figure out why it became a hit or how it even was made was Frosty Returns. Because since it debuted in 1992 it granted CBS huge ratings and how could you make a sequel to Frosty The Snowman when Frosty melted away at the end of the special? I think CBS wanted to cash in on a sequel for Frosty The Snowman to see what happened to Frosty The Snowman. But I feel that the other Rankin-Bass holiday specials need to be seen on TV once again. But like when Apple TV got control of the Peanuts specials including A Charlie Brown Christmas this has got to be the worst mistake CBS has done in history

3 nearly forgotten Rankin Bass Christmas specials that can also be watched on other holidays. I can barely remember watching some of these holiday specials on network television and various family cable channels back in the 80's.
