Disney channels went dark on Sunday, a day ESPN showed the U.S. Open tennis tournament and ABC aired the LSU-USC college football game. “This dispute is not a run-of-the-mill dispute," said DirecTV CFO Ray Carpenter on Tuesday. "This is not the kind of dispute where we’re haggling over percentage points on a rate. This is really about changing the model in a way that gives everyone confidence that this industry can survive." Carpenter said the satellite TV company is pushing for “skinny, genre-based” packages, where customers can choose the kind of content they want to pay for.

Disney to make tonight's ABC News' Kamala Harris-Donald Trump debate available to DirecTV customers amid blackout

"Although we have yet to reach an agreement, we are providing a three-hour feed of ABC News coverage to all impacted DirecTV customers at no cost because we want all Americans to be able to view tonight’s debate at this important moment in our history," Disney said in a statement. "We remain at the table negotiating with DirecTV and the restoration of our programming to their subscribers is completely within their control.” UPDATE: DirecTV rejected Disney’s offer. ALSO: Disney-DirecTV dispute may take a while to resolve since an agreement wasn't reached before Monday Night Football's premiere.
