Thanks to the hashtag #RIPCartoonNetwork, fans of the beloved animation studio are concerned it's shutting down for good. Here's what's happening.

Cartoon Network was once considered by many to be the best cartoon channel out of the bunch, with many of their shows being considered classics and are adored by fans across the world to this day. However, with the recent shake-ups at Warner Brothers following their recent merger with Discovery, Cartoon Network has been struggling throughout the 2020s. Today, I wanted to go over all the reasons that have contributed to the steep decline of Cartoon Network as a channel and as a brand, and why the rest of the animation industry could succumb to the same fate.

Cartoon Network is officially in a brand new dark age as the end of Craig of the Creek marks the end of Cartoon Network Studios originals has a whole, with everything in production being spin-offs or adaptations of existing shows and media. (Adventure Time Side Quests, Fionna and Cake, BMO, Regular Show the Lost Tapes, Gumball, etc.) As if that wasn't bad enough, there are a ton of shorts/pilots for shows that will NEVER be released, as Warner Bros Discovery seems to have turned their back on the Cartoon Cartoons shorts program, despite marketing it heavily in the early 2020s. Can Cartoon Network be saved from these dark ages? Can these shorts ever be released? Let's talk about it!
